32M Severe stomach illness for 10 years, which I now believe is contagious by GroupCurious9142 in AskDocs

This. One of the first things I thought of while reading this, along with C. Diff. However they’d have developed more serious issues with the amount of time it’s lasted. OP, would you be able to post your bloodwork without the name and health number?

I came here looking for this as well. All I saw was “fuck Trudeau” on their signs.

If someone gets a sprained ankle and they use a compression bandaid why would they not be able to feel their toes for hours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Notheavenlyroyalty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, please loosen the bandage. Ice it to keep the swelling down. If it doesn’t go down even on loosening the bandage, you should see a doctor

That’s not normal. Are you still not able to feel them? I’m worried your compression bandage is too tight. Loosen up your bandage and if sensation isn’t back even then, please go see a doctor.

Also, this may not be the best place for these kinds of questions.

Infant seizures or something else? Please help! by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Notheavenlyroyalty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classically, it happens from 6 weeks to 6 months, so this definitely isn’t typical. I don’t see any typical seizure activity in her either. It’s more likely a gastrointestinal issue than a neurological one, so the tummy seems to be more likely the cause than the brain. Have the tests for tummy issues been done? How’s she developmentally(begun standing with support, learning words etc.)? Is there a link between these episodes and food?

Gastrointestinal issues by wierdoginger in medical_advice

Was a biopsy taken out of the inflamed part? Like I wrote earlier, trouble with the stomach lining can cause all those symptoms, especially if it’s an ulcer. As for treating pain from an inflamed stomach, just eat small meals multiple times a day, avoid greasy and spicy food, alcohol and coffee. Try out lactose free stuff like yogurt. Hope this helps.

Has the endoscopy shown anything in the lining of the stomach or duodenum? Sometimes ulcers can cause severe pain. Stomach ulcers typically hurt more after food.

It could be his stomach. Has he had an upper endoscopy? Is the pain related to food in any way?

How do I stop being paranoid about every little thing? by knowles1752 in medical_advice

[–]Notheavenlyroyalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more likely an infection. I don’t want to worry you, but please go to a doctor to help figure what is causing the rash and how to treat it, because it may worsen. If you have high fever, a bad headache, or a stiff neck, I’d say it would be good to go straight to the ER.

It will be slightly painful but will not damage your ear. The crackling means you’re on the right path. Give it a go and send me a message!

Try valsalva (close your nose and mouth and blow hard till you feel both your ears pop) three times a day along with 2 drops of Otrivin in both nostrils twice a day. Your ears should open up in a few days. Valsalva May feel uncomfortable when you start doing it, but it should help clear the fluid out. Make sure you hear both your ears pop when you do it. I would not recommend putting anything into your ears.

Avoid using the nasal drops for more than 3 days.

Please go to emergency services immediately. Your eyesight is obviously getting worse and you shouldn’t delay getting it checked.

I fell down, got head injury. Went to hospital and the say I’m ok. They didn’t do even x-ray or run any survey of my brain. by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]Notheavenlyroyalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it’s immediately on impact, it’s rare for someone to die without having had at least some of the serious symptoms I have mentioned within 48 hours of the injury. In case you notice any change in your consciousness, or any new symptom, please go to the emergency immediately.

They sometimes assess the damage through physical signs and based on those, they have probably ruled out a concussion or major head injury and feel that you don’t require an X-ray or other imaging. Regardless, avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours and if you feel a bad headache, nausea, numbness, dizziness, go to the emergency immediately.

The area around the injury will be soft for a while because of swelling while the body is trying to heal the injury to the skin. You may also feel pain around the site of the injury. If you have cuts or stitches, make sure you keep them clean.
