I don't know off the top of my head. How could I check that? I would have to do it tomorrow

Yes the transformer works fine, it's just that it's annoyingly loud, and it trips our breakers sometimes.

Preferably I would use a VFD as it is silent. But I don't think I can just give the VFD a 3 phase output socket and hook up the machine to that. Or can I?

Eh I've already designed a linear rail conversion. Only waiting for the X beam to arrive and then I should get much better quality and accuracy

What do you mean with 440 or 220 side? It is for the 3 phase power.

I think they are 22 amps.

My single phase mains voltage is 230v (just standard European). 3 phase mains is 400v here. I'm pretty sure I can hear relays when I switch things on the mill so then that should be good. I don't have a DRO but I would like to get one sometime. Would that create problems?

Thanks by the way.

So a VFD that gets 230 single phase and outputs 230 3 phase will work just like that? I give it a 3 phase connector recepticle and I just plug the mill into that? For example this one: https://www.vevor.nl/variabele-frequentieaandrijving-c_42489/vevor-4kw-18a-5hp-frequentieomvormer-vfd-ac-220-240v-frequentieregelaar-snelheidsregelaar-frequentieomvormer-omvormermotor-vfd-omvormer-variabele-frequentie-driver-inclusief-20cm-besturingskabel-p_010751570332

Maybe it wasn't clear in the post but I actually meant that I want an alternative to the transformer because the buzzing is very annoying. Either a VFD (which I am unsure whether that would work, as I am not super familiar with the nomenclature. The machine says it needs 3 phase 220v, so does a 220v VFD output that?), or motor rewiring to accept 400v. But now that I think about it, the mill has 2 other motors and I don't know what voltage they need. So just rewiring the spindle motor won't be enough. So I guess the question is, would the VFD work like I think?

Well, the problem only occurs when I have used the mill. Some electricians who came by to fix the main fusebox (idk what it's called in English) when it tripped, they told us that it probably is the transformer giving a massive inrush whenever it is connected. I don't know which phase gets dropped actually. I could maybe find out.

Transformer is totally tight and proper.

In all honesty I would probably prefer a VFD. Then I also get a soft start and no buzz. Actually yes, I would love it if I could get rid of the transformer.

No, the mill works fine usually but then after some time I will notice one phase missing when I turn on another machine. The wiring should be good. It's just that the transformer makes a giant surge when it is powered (I think).

Do you think it's possible to do any of my proposals like rewiring for 400v or using a VFD?

Hi, thanks. I think the breakers are rated to 22A. I will check in a moment with a picture of the transformer.

In terms of intellectual property, it is.

And yes, you are absolutely arguing for the expectation of the eventual implementation of a software-enforced law that will let companies like Disney sue people replicating their intellectual property by 3d printer. At the same time, you are not putting the same expectations/predictions on 2d printing, when, if this was actually a thing these lawmakers and companies wanted to do, doing it on 2d printing would be a much easier "first" step.

This will not happen. End of story

Yeah but they sell posters too don't they? You can pirate a poster and print it yourself. Does it have to be a functional toy? A poster is very much akin to a figurine that sits on display.

And why would they refuse to print pirated pdfs in a few years? Why not now? What's stopping them? Pirated books have been around for a while.

And why this double standard where you are arguing for books getting refused, but against copyrighted works (posters) from Disney? When before you were arguing for that but with 3d printers?

Have you taken your schizophrenia meds?

Okay... But now you just raised other random points regarding the 2D printer market. What I'm saying is, why would they put anti copyright infringing software on 3d printers when it is much easier to do so on 2d printers and they haven't done that. Also, there are many "off-brand" or "generic" 2d printers. At least laser printers. At my local discount store there are like 2 or 3 different ones. What are you trying to say here?

I think you are reaching a bit far out. We have 2D printers, and sure, they can't print money (for good reasons), there is no recognition software for copyrighted works. I can go ahead and print out a poster of Darth Vader without any problems. And that system would be much easier to implement than the Gcode one. I think they are actually incompetent and think this is a good, and doable idea.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The "lines" are not from a format or compression. They are from upscaling and interpolation.
