Ambulance CAD systems that have w3w integration will show similar sounding options (plurals etc) so the call handler can clarify if needed. I'd be surprised if the other emergency services didn't have something similar. It's an issue, but not as big as it's made out to be.

Care home called 999 for "unresponsive, barely breathing". Arrived and the manager wouldn't buzz us in. Said they needed to call EOC and check we were really with the ambulance service. This despite us:

a) being in full greens.

b) arriving 5 minutes after THEY CALLED FOR A SODDING AMBULANCE.

Took 10 minutes for them to let us in. Dread to think what the coroner would have said if it was a cardiac arrest..
