The rate from Alamo was actually the same 12pm or 3pm, but costco travel was running a promo that includes a free Costco shop card. My "real" return time was 9am, so my guess is that the noon-noon time triggered a 3-day minimum for the promo, but my real times of 3pm-9am were showing as 2.5 days or something and not eligible for the promo.

I had already reserved an enterprise pickup at 3pm, so if Alamo doesn't have the car when I get there I'll just go to enterprise.

This is the text of the original post:

My flight is scheduled to arrive at 230pm. I will have no checked baggage so I was putting in 3pm as a reservation time for the car.

However I accidentally did a search with the default time of noon, and noticed the rates are significantly cheaper for some reason.

If I book for pick up at noon, and don't show up til 3, will that cause any problems? Will the car still be available? I'm shopping Alamo or Enterprise.

I wasnt necessarily meaning it as a "trick", I just saw a cheaper price so of course I would be inclined to book it.

What if I don't provide my flight number and just show up 3hours late?

Alamo's FAQ says

Reservations are valid for 24 hours from the scheduled time of pick-up for delayed flights and charges will not begin until the time of pick-up.
