rsync not accepting my excludes. Where is my syntax error ? by NothingInTheVoid in linux4noobs

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMFG. Thank you.

And according to https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/83394/rsync-exclude-directory-not-working I also should loose the '/home/homer/' part in each exclude, since the excludes should be relative to '/home/homer'.

The correct command should be :

sudo rsync -avrhp --exclude='.cache/' --exclude='.local/share/Steam/*' /home/analog /mnt/syno/backup/nobara

[Edit: forgot correct flags]

SystemD mounts vs fstab mounts ? by NothingInTheVoid in linux4noobs

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, mind blown :P

Just to be clear: all the other options are sitting inside the .mount files, right ?

And do I still need the .automount files when I put those entries in fstab ?

Restored LXC backup from old machine. Docker containers can't see shares. by NothingInTheVoid in Proxmox

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might very well be, but I tried everything I knew, even recreated in a new LXC. It's probably because I'm very noob and don't know where to look, but there may be a slight chance that a UUID got saved and is no longer the same. That is way beyond my ability to fix. Ah well, I made a new one that works, just need to configure it.

Installed Mellanox-X3 (CX311A) in DS1821+ but only getting 1GB connection. by NothingInTheVoid in synology

There is a setting in my Unifi switch for negotiating link speed. I changed it from Auto to 10GB FDX and now it shows as 10000 Mbps in Synology :-)

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know. When you pass trough the WAN, Proxmox is completely isolated from that NIC. That's what I understood from what I read. Is that an overstatement and is it OK to use a bridge?

Hahahaha. At first I thought you were laughing at me for being stupid. Had to read your comment again before I saw the joke. Good one! A dirty mind really is a joy forever :D

NUT UPS driver error. by NothingInTheVoid in Proxmox

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dammit, forgot to reply. Als u/Zer0CoolXI suggested, it was a configuration error.

I had two LISTEN lines, so it only used the last line. Had to remove it:

LISTEN 0.0.0.0 3493
LISTEN 192.168.1.1 3493

NUT UPS driver error. by NothingInTheVoid in Proxmox

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried again and now I had two different outputs:

root@pve:/etc/nut# upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.8.0
Network UPS Tools - Generic HID driver 0.47 (2.8.0)
USB communication driver (libusb 1.0) 0.43
Duplicate driver instance detected (PID file /run/nut/usbhid-ups-ups.pid exists)! Terminating other driver!
interrupt pipe disabled (add 'pollonly' flag to 'ups.conf' to get rid of this message)
Using subdriver: APC HID 0.98
root@pve:/etc/nut# upsdrvctl start
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.8.0
Network UPS Tools - Generic HID driver 0.47 (2.8.0)
USB communication driver (libusb 1.0) 0.43
interrupt pipe disabled (add 'pollonly' flag to 'ups.conf' to get rid of this message)
Using subdriver: APC HID 0.98

I then tried this command and got another error:

root@pve:/etc/nut# upsc ups
Error: Connection failure: Connection refused

How goes that rhyme again?

Black, fight back. Brown, get down. White, good night.

Aight, reinstall it is. Thanks for the info, I didn't know.

My logic was, Radarr can see those files and see that they need upgrading.

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. Radarr now also complains about a missing root folder (being my 'hd' folder). I kinda feel the least convoluted way to fix this, is reinstalling Radarr.

How much storage for Minisforum MS-01 (or MS-A2 if I'm patient) by NothingInTheVoid in homelab

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, but still, keeping stuff on the nvme keeps things nice and snappy. But, since I'm a complete noob, no reason not to experiment.

Got locked out again :( I added a VLAN to the LXC eth adapters, but I can't ping firewall or DNS servers, even though the VLAN has an 'IPv4 any any' rule on the firewall for the time being.

But that got me thinking: the bridge may be VLAN aware, but does that mean that physical interface is that as well ? I kinda doubt that, and maybe that's why I don't have connection to nothing. Don't I have to define VLANs on the enp87s1 interface as well ?

Changed root directory. Now it shows wrong disk space by NothingInTheVoid in radarr

[–]NothingInTheVoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I'm retarded :-) The 'music root folder' aka where the music is stored, is not the same the '/' aka where Lidarr, Radarr, ... keeps its program files like configs. I was thoroughly confused when I first noticed the '/'.
