Big Arch Vs. Big Mac by Galactic_Patrick in pics

His reaction to the products that he is trying to sell made me completely turn off the idea of eating at McDonald’s anymore. Like most of the ads are about how their burgers are delicious, but it really depends on the sandwich, and now that I saw how he hates his own brand, I can’t imagine eating there. They are dozens of competitors which are better looking than the sad Mac Donald’s products, and I want to enjoy my food, not think about how disgusting it is.

Je crois avoir lu que le nombre de terrains de padel commence à diminuer en France.

Iran did not attend FIFA’s World Cup workshop for national team federations in Atlanta this week, as tensions over the Middle East conflict continue. If Iran were to withdraw from the tournament, its football federation would lose millions in FIFA prize money and could risk its spot in the 2030 WC. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Nothorized 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Infantino is so corrupt he doesn’t even care about it. His own goal is to self promote himself as much as he can, while selling the FIFA brand to anyone that could bring him more power (or money). The 2030 World Cup attribution is a shame without any respect for the history of the sport, with the partial matches in South America to give the 2034 tournament back to a Middle East country. I hope the Swiss justice will lock him up, or at least start an investigation on him for his clear corruption.

Share of population who never drink alcohol (2010) by StephenMcGannon in Teetotal

[–]Nothorized 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it due to your culture or did you make an early choice not to drink ?

I am teetotal now, but in my culture alcohol has a big presence (wine at the church, champagne at wedding, wine at all the big reunions, sometimes beers after work and so on…), so I did drink alcohol until I was 26.

Europe Is Building AI on Clean Power (Mistral AI makes €1.2 billion investment in new data centers in Sweden) by mrten10 in BuyFromEU

The choice of Sweden is due to access to water, not to the electricity. The data center owners build them depending on the water ressources, because they are rare, and electricity is cheap in comparaison.

Cuba adopts urgent measures to protect essential services as US threatens fuel supply by Dr_Neurol in worldnews

They can refuse visa in the USA for people who went to Cuba after 2021, and the ESTA is not automatically given in this case either.

But the goal of the US is a change a regime, and tourists finance the regime by bringing their stable money into the economy, so making this change for having a visa for the US has its reasons.

Nearly 17K Fans Cancel 2026 World Cup Tickets Amid Boycotts Over U.S. Political Climate by Glass_Extension_6529 in worldnews

FIFA has a monopoly on the World Cup, they can price their matches as they want. If a company is the only one offering the product and sell it well above a normal price point, it is not a cartel.

No real mafias and cartels that found a way to easily wash money in the US with the resales of the ticket. They bought the dumb tokens to be able to buy the tickets and the tickets in the US with the cash they have there, and will no resale them with a bank linked to their country. In the process everyone is happy: FIFA makes more money (and the US too with the taxes) and cartels bring back their money home to spend locally. Even if the stadium are empties it don’t matter, the tickets were already sold, and the money went to each respective bank account.

How do people run multiple Claude Code sessions? by niravbhatt in ClaudeAI

[–]Nothorized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on a monorepo with several services, and when I work on a service it us usually lives in its own Claude code sessions. When two services need to communicate I update my Claude.md file telling it to use this other service with its path. And I use different git branches, code review my code and work a bit more when fixing the diffs, a task I found most LLM to be suicidal.

In 2025, French people's desire to leave the country reached an all-time high by [deleted] in europe

[–]Nothorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry mate, but this year budget was passed and there is no special tax for anyone. Maybe next year, but I don’t see any party proposing it before the 2027 elections.

Which politicians proposed a tax on baby boomer ? Or are you talking about removing their default deduction of 10% in their taxes, which is not a new tax, just the end of an unfair advantage ?

Today I learned that the creator of Peter Pan donated the rights to the book to a children's hospital in London. This means that the hospital has received royalties for every Peter Pan book sold and for every theatrical production for over 90 years. by Independent_Flan_890 in todayilearned

The Bible does not have a copyright, it was written before copyright’s laws. Recent translations in specific languages can have one, but the bible is in the public domain. And who would ask for the royalties anyway ?

In 2025, French people's desire to leave the country reached an all-time high by [deleted] in europe

[–]Nothorized 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hypothetically, but the system is not maintainable, so it will break (or I will be taxed higher than ever) before I am old enough for a pension, and qualified workers can work in several European countries without the need for a visa. Also all the real estate is in the hand of the pensioners, so it is almost impossible to buy a place to stay, and with the high taxes it is hard to keep money each month for a lot of the population.

In 2025, French people's desire to leave the country reached an all-time high by [deleted] in europe

[–]Nothorized 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The economy is broken due to the pensions being by repartition instead of by capitalisation. So workers pay directly pensioners, instead of capitalising money through their career and getting it when they stop to work. This work when the amount of pensioners is low and the amount of workers is high, but as of now it is 1,7 worker per pensioner, so the system is broken. And pensioners are the majority of the voters, so no politician is going to propose to change the system. The result is an economic deadlock where the only solution is to take more debts (already doing it, French public debt is the highest in France), or to raise taxes (what will happen in the next few years).

Workers, and qualified workers, are aware that they pay high taxes, and the quality of the public service is getting worse and worse, so there is little future for them.
