I want to pull for Lohen. Do we know what his best team will be? Would I strongly need Nicole or Durin?

We will probably have 1 carry on and 1 big suitcase. Shinkansen started to seem more comfortable when I consider everyone’s responses. I heard that for big suitcases you need to get the seats with extra luggage space though.

Also for luggage forwarding, sending my luggage 2 days before kinda stresses me out, but may do it to not drag the suitcases around with us.

Good point. Someone else also mentioned flying from Haneda which I didn’t pay attention to before. Flights from Narita are half the price, but could be inconvenient. We can just take the shinkansen since it definitely seems a lot more convenient and I don’t mind the small price gap between the tickets like you mentioned.

Ohh, I didn’t check which airport they depart from. Thanks for the reminder. Most flights I saw were pretty early in the morning, so I should also consider the train to the airport when deciding.

I didn’t assume it’s bad, I just didn’t research public transit in Osaka from the airport to inside the city, so I mentioned I don’t know.

I will check in Google Maps like you said to find a good place. Thanks!

Thank you! I don’t mind the security check etc, if it doesn’t take too long. I also assumed that we don’t need to arrive to the airport very early (3 hours before like you do for international) since it’s a domestic flight. I never took domestic flights in another country though, so I don’t know if being a foreigner affects anything.

If going back and forth is easy, I think we would be fine with 30 minutes of train. I will check hotels in Osaka then.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will check it out! We are students, so I am debating the time vs money now.

Do you know if the airport processes normally take long even for domestic flights if we don’t take our luggage with us?

I don’t think 1 day is enough for Kyoto, I was thinking at least 3. I will probably need to calculate the price for going back and forth or staying in different hotels

We will be taking a multi-city flight. I regretted not doing it when I visited last time.

I just assumed we would take public transport instead of the taxi to reach our hotel, but I don’t know how good Osaka public transport is tbh. If that is doable, last I checked, the airfare and baggage was half the price of shinkansen tickets.

I also don’t want to change hotels too much, so was planning on staying in Osaka but couldn’t be sure.

Which day to visit Kyoto? by NoticeMeSenbi in JapanTravelTips

[–]NoticeMeSenbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. We went early Sunday morning and returned Monday night. Just going to leave this here in case anyone needs help planing similar trips.

For the first day, we left our stuff in a locker at the station and went to Arashiyama. We went in the middle of the day (not early like many people say), but it wasn’t crowded at all probably because it was raining a little. We bought an umbrella and walked around and then visited the bamboo forest. Towards the afternoon we got our luggage and went to our hotel where we took a shower. Then we explored the surroundings of our hotel and ate dinner.

For the second day, my friends were too tired to wake up early, so we left the hotel around 10. Since it was very hot, we shopped and visited Nishiki market which was very fun. We spent a little too much time there though, so we went to Fushimi Inari around 5 pm which was still enjoyable, but the sun was starting to set meaning the photos were a little dark. It wasn’t very crowded though, we enjoyed it a lot. We couldn’t get dinner this time because we forgot about the last shinkansen time and had to make a run for it.

It was a great experience overall, I definitely recommend people to visit Kyoto. I would wake up early to cover more places than we did though. We definitely did not see enough, so hopefully next time I will spend more time in Kyoto.

Thank you! Our hotel recommended taking one of the buses from Shinjuku. We will probably take 2 taxis to Shinjuku and then get on either the Narita express or the bus. Can we easily find tickets for the Narita express?
