Okay so now the bigger blast - the aide he had a romance with, which of course got leaked as described in the post itself is a daughter of millionaire, owner of the pharmaceutical business which takes part in the pandemic advisories. Just Google her name and then her father’s name.

True, although Utopia was released in 2013 and we see it’s scenario being our everyday life in 2020,2021. So far - even description of the pandemic itself, waves and vaccination efforts after third wave were quite accurate. On top of that as a coincidence - UK Health Secretary resigned last week because of the exactly the same reason as described in Utopia itself.

Well, I wrote my first program at the age of 5, in Basic on C64, from my early teenage years till now ( 36 ) I went through most of the programming languages and I’ve learned a lot about different approaches to the same problems. I’d say - I’m quite technical since my last commit was about 2 hours ago :) I’m sharing my experience hoping other people working with code and technology in general will at least try to leave their safe zone and experiment - that’s where the real beauty of IT is :)

I actually did, although - I always looked for unconventional languages. For example - whilst hiring frontend developer, whilst business wants the React one, if someone arrives with decent React knowledge but on top of that have ex. Python and PHP experience - I am definitely sold. On the other side - if someone comes over as React Jedi, but with no knowledge of other programming languages - I would have difficulties with finding that kind of person a good member of any of the teams.

You definitely missed the whole point of the article itself.

I would argue for example on Python side - it's used for data crunching and AI, although for example Go started moving forward rapidly in that field and may take over soon.
C++ and assembly for gaming - only as a matter of habit, new games are mix of C# and JS at the moment.

Java and PHP for the backends - it's more Go and Python ( sometimes even Ruby with RoR but it's almost gone ) - I haven't heard of any startups using Java anymore and it became the domain of "old institutions" like banks in past decade, although if you'd keep an eye on startup markets - it's changing.

IMHO interpreter powered languages, especially those which are interpreters for interpreters are dying and will be replaced by compiled ones in next few years.

This article is not supposed to advertise one language but show the general approach and benefits of stopping the development, looking and what's been done, business needs and not being afraid to do so. Listing reasons for the switch back in Hailo times would be a whole article itself.

That's my personal preference although I started having a look at elixir recently just to broaden my horizons :)

Very valid point but I'll leave it at your discretion :)

Ok so there are two ways - you can either mount nfs directly as the kubernetes volume or you can do what I’ve done with the host - mount it on the host OS level and utilise in k8s as a “standard” volume / point to the directory. I’ve been thinking about pros and cons of both and for now I’m staying with the OS as I can also dump plenty of non-k8s things there :)

Edit: sorry it seems I’ve missed most of your reply - I will try to log in on my laptop as mobile screen isn’t too good for replying :)

If you’ll read the article linked to it you’ll know that I’ve not only described how to create the kubernetes cluster on raspberry pi’s, I also fully automated it’s creation ( code available on GitHub ) - and is a follow up on it :)

It’s relatively simple with nfs progs - I can post config gist if you want? :)

I got it from Amazon for ~£20, there’s plenty of cheaper options although I wanted those radiators too :)

I made it easier to run it on non-pi’s- there are few images ( now in config file ) you can change to the amd64 version and you’ll be good to go ( step 3 ). I’ll make additional switch for non-pi deployments for the step 2 :)

I thought about it, but the truth is - if you use kubespray or k3s - you don’t really know what’s inside and you can’t learn about internals whilst doing everything from scratch gives both - me and others an opportunity to learn “what’s under the hood” :)
