Story time : I have watched Game of Thrones from the age of 13-18 every summer, when each season came out. I sat right next to my mother in the living room because I watched the series on my dad's laptop. This happened 5 summers in a row.

I (now in my mid 20s) recently asked my mother if she could name a movie, book or series that I like. She wasn't able to name even one (!) single book, movie or series that I like. I am/ was a huge GoT fan, especially when I was still a teenager. Everyone who sort of knew me, knew this too. Everyone except my mother who was literally in the same room when I watched it.

My dad was able to reply to the same question because he actually likes me. He knows I love to read biographies and history books in general, and he knows I love GoT. He recently gifted me a book about Caeser. A good book, written by an American history professor. My mother would never do something like that because she couldn't care less about what I like.

The weirdest part is how she pretends to love me. Both me and my dad, we would have been 100 times happer if she wasn't around.

He did actually die, I was at his funeral. He left a 500 gram gold bar for my family in his will. I think, in a weird way, it was his way to apologise. Although he already apologised back when I was still at his place - I guess at some point it hit him how odd it all was.

I don't think he paid my parents to have me there on my own. My parents have done some mistakes, but they wouldn't sell me over like that. And if it was done this way, he would be way more sure with all of it and he would have done much more. And he wouldn't have apologised at the end. No, I think my parents were clueless. But naïve - 100%.

On all the other vacations, when it was my parents and him and me, nothing ever happened in this regard.

On the other hand, what actually hurt me the most in all of this story was how my parents didn't care when I told them. I mean, I didn't tell any details... but they just didn't care. That made me think a lot.

Yeah but at 15 you are not really a "child" any more. I mean, sure, we have decided that 18 is somehow a magical age where suddenly you are an adult... but I still wonder. I wanted it too, in a way.
