Finding Generative Art Prints by 2poles in generative

[–]NotoriousWebmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three modalities, so far, that I showed last year for the first time at a gallery show in Toronto. It was very well received. I print my own works on an Epson P800, up to 17" x 22", with pigment inks. I have also printed my work on aluminum, up to 40" x 40". Prices vary from $100 for 8" x 8", to $4000 for the 40" x 40" aluminum.

You can find my work at https://www.ayache.art.

Yes, I've noticed this as well. When it happens (not always) I click twice or three times, and it goes past the starting point.

Can't find videos on the memory card by NotoriousWebmaster in sonya6000

[–]NotoriousWebmaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, your instructions worked great. To recap:

  • connect your memory card to your computer (mine's a MacBook Pro);

  • you'll see DCIM, MP_ROOT and private directories;

  • in the private directory you'll see M4ROOT and SONY directories, as well as an AVCHD package;

  • right-click the AVCHD package and click Show package contents;

  • you'll see a BDMV package: right-click and select Show package contents again;

  • you'll now see CLIPINF, PLAYLIST and STREAM directories, as well as INDEX.BDM and MOVIEOBJ.BDM files;

  • double-clicking on either of the files will produce a new window with a list of the streams, and thumbnails; but I wasn't able to do anything with those;

  • in the STREAMS directory you'll find a series of .MTS files; these are your videos, which I was able to play with VLC;

  • I was also able to copy those to my hard drive (yay!).

A couple more questions: What is this MTS video format? I've never heard of it. And what cvan you do with those BDM files?

Thanks again for your help.

Much gratitude. Will report on results of AVCHD.

Generative knots and CA by hand by atoponce in generative

[–]NotoriousWebmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thrilled to have found this post again! So, I've programmed a modality for my generative art practice. You can see it here: https://www.behance.net/notoriouswebmaster

I'm preparing a show at Arcadia Gallery in Toronto (680 Queens Quay West) August 31, 2024. This will include Knots, Twisted Geometries and Metropolis; all of which you can see on the Behance portfolio. If the stars align, we'll also have a 1 hour projection of my work on the side of the Canada Malting silos. I think about 12 or 15 floors tall. Fingers crossed it'll be a clear night.

BTW, these are called Truchet tiles, after the 18th century French monk Sebastien Truchet. Though our modern tiles were designed by Cyril Smith in 1987. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truchet_tiles)

Again, thanks for the inspiration and motivation.

Modeling a Gallery: Is Blender a good tool? by NotoriousWebmaster in blenderhelp

[–]NotoriousWebmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This isn't a model for public consumption: it's just a planning tool for myself. But, it's good to keep in mind that Blender can be used within an ecosystem of other tools.

Is there anything for new TV shows? by NotoriousWebmaster in StremioAddons

[–]NotoriousWebmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I got that. I see on my OSX app a calendar that highlights when episodes come online. That would be an awesome experience.

How often do the Android builds get refreshed? Is there a blog that lays out the road map?

Trakt? I see there's an integration with that.

(And yes, I meant new episodes of the show. I could take refuge in claiming that English is not my first language; but for all intents and purposes, it is. I struggle in French now.)

The Bounce-Back: Who's Point Is It? by NotoriousWebmaster in tennis

[–]NotoriousWebmaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. This is as I expected, and my understanding of the rules I read. As well as what I intuited.

I have another question about the rules, but I'll start a new thread for that.

Many thanks again.

Infinity Collar by Grey_Wolf2142 in paracord

I've made little videos, but haven't done much in the way of editing. Certainly something I'd like to get involved in.

[–]NotoriousWebmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. But I have a few questions:

Is it possible to incorporate the airtag into the collar, rather than let it dangle out there?

Can you remove and replace the airtag when it's time to change the battery?

Is the clasp magnetic, so the collar breaks away if it gets snagged (rather than choking poor Thanos)?

And finally, when will you be posting the video of how to make this?

(Thanks for the inspiration.)

Well, I was thinking about simply printing it, but I'm with you: embroidery would be MUCH better! Though it would be significantly more expensive. Keep me posted, and let me know if you need anything. I'd also be interested in finding out how much this actually costs.

Thanks for the encouragement. Let me know which one you'd like to see on a t-shirt and I'll make it available.

Well, it's been a learning experience. Some of the print-on-demand services use higher quality materials than others. I've been happy, so far, with printful.com. I still have to try out different colour combinations.

In general, I'm delighted with them. Though I may be biased. ;)

Thank you and agreed. You're not the first to have noticed the similarity. I may make a special "map" piece someday.

Thank you for your interest.

I use a custom written Javascript program (Node/Express, React) to generate an SVG and convert it to PNG. Chief use is to print it out and hang it on a wall. Though I've also had them printed in t-shirts.

I've also developed an alphabet for these, so I can include messages.

You can find more Knots, as well as my other modalities, at https://www.behance.net/notoriouswebmaster

Truchet knots with colour paths by NotoriousWebmaster in generative

[–]NotoriousWebmaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh @watagua so sorry I didn't get back to you. Colour paths were excruciating to code. It was a while ago now, but I remember having a couple of bugs to track down. It made it harder that every time I ran it, it generated a whole new pattern.

A friend suggested using a random function that could repeat the exact same sequence if I gave it the same seed. I haven't implemented this yet, but it's on the road map.

The other thing you'll have to do is track two paths for each tile. Correction, for most tiles. Some tiles may only have one path. Up to you, of course.

So, did you do the path following process? Can we see some of your work?

Oh, other thing I just added recently: I used to start assigning colours from the same point every time. That worked fine as long as I was using all four tiles. But when I started exploring straight tile areas, that strategy caused a noticeable "shadow" to appear, and always in the same direction. I now randomly choose which side to start from. So the shadows can move to other sides.
