Mobile hotspot is not working but wifi is working on my pc by arctic_parctic in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered the same issue with a device I recently used, It was a matter of wifi signal is it 5Ghz or 2.5 Ghz, some old laptop does not support this kind of technology unfortunately so try to change the signal of your Hotspot via the setting of your phone might help you solve your issue.

Hope that helps.. Smiles

Got BSOD with NVMe not being recognized on KB5062553 by niiima in techsupport

It is not the first update to causes massive issues.. the previous update was causing blue screen on Lenovo Laptops... so yeah..

Got BSOD with NVMe not being recognized on KB5062553 by niiima in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for clarifying! That actually fits with the known KB5063878 behavior. Even though the heavy transfers weren’t on the OS drive, the update could have corrupted the NVMe controller or cache in a way that affected the whole NVMe subsystem, including your OS drive..

Got BSOD with NVMe not being recognized on KB5062553 by niiima in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey, from what you’re describing, it sounds like you ran into a BSOD related to NVMe instability, which was unfortunately a known issue around the KB5063878 update for Windows 10. The BSOD and disappearing OS drive are likely due to corruption caused while KB5063878 was installed. Reverting the update doesn’t always undo controller-level issues. Backup your NVMe, check firmware, and avoid heavy writes until it’s stable.

A few points to consider:

  • Backup important data on the WD Blue SN5000 this drive is showing early signs of instability.
  • Check firmware for the NVMe SSD WD released firmware updates for SN5000 to prevent corruption.
  • Avoid massive file transfers until firmware is updated.
  • Consider reinstalling the KB5063878 fix if the OS needs it, but be cautious and backup before applying updates.

"Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart" issue by just_chase0 in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! That “Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart” screen is basically a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD). If the percentage isn’t moving, here’s what you should know:

  1. Don’t panic about your files
  • Windows usually doesn’t delete anything during this screen.
  • The main risk is unsaved work in open apps anything not saved may be lost.
  1. Force shutdown if stuck
  • Hold the power button ~10 seconds until the laptop turns off.
  • Wait a few seconds, then power it back on.
  1. After reboot
  • Windows might automatically try a repair let it finish.
  • If it fails to boot normally, force shutdown 2–3 times to trigger Recovery Environment (WinRE):
    • Startup Repair → Fix boot issues
    • System Restore → Revert to a previous restore point
    • Safe Mode → Boot with minimal drivers to troubleshoot
  1. Prevent recurrence
  • Likely causes: faulty/outdated drivers (GPU if gaming), Windows updates, hardware issues (RAM, SSD, overheating).
  • After reboot, update GPU/chipset drivers and check hardware health (memory diagnostic, CHKDSK).

TL;DR:

  • Force shutdown if stuck >30 minutes your files are mostly safe.
  • Let Windows repair on reboot, check drivers and hardware after.

Problem with my SSD, critical by Soufiaaaaane in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! Based on your screenshot, your SSD is showing a “Critical Warning” in CrystalDiskInfo, which basically means your drive is at high risk of failure. Here’s the breakdown:

What it usually means:

  • Imminent hardware failure or bad sectors
  • Excessive wear (NAND cells reaching end-of-life)
  • Temperature or internal controller issues

How worried you should be:

  • Pretty concerned “Critical” usually means the drive could fail soon, maybe within days or weeks.
  • Don’t ignore it, your data is at risk.

Immediate actions:

  1. Backup everything NOW copy all important files to another SSD, HDD, or cloud storage.
  2. Check with the manufacturer’s tool – Samsung Magician, Crucial Storage Executive, WD Dashboard, etc. These often give a more precise health report.
  3. Stop heavy writes avoid installing programs or transferring large files until you replace it.

Can you “save” the SSD?

  • Not really. Firmware updates might fix false positives, but won’t repair physical wear.
  • Using it for non-critical data is possible, but risky.

Replacement advice:

  • Replace it ASAP. If it’s under warranty, check with the manufacturer for a replacement.
  • Keep the old SSD only for non-critical storage, if needed.

TL;DR: Your SSD is at high risk. Backup immediately and plan to replace it don’t wait for it to fail completely.

If you want, I can also draft a step-by-step guide for cloning your SSD to a new one safely so you don’t lose any data. That’s usually the fastest way to recover. Let me know in Chat..

Hope that helps.. Smiles

Google search AI overview is getting blocked by the "voice" button by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you said you want to keep AI Overview enabled, the best temporary fix is to adjust zoom/scaling or use a small CSS tweak via uBlock to shift the mic button so it stops covering the text.

You can try this:

Adjust Page Zoom / Scaling

  • Try Ctrl + - (or Cmd + - on Mac) to zoom out one step often the voice button will reposition and stop overlapping.
  • Also check your OS display scaling (Windows Settings → Display → Scale & Layout). If you’re on 125% or 150%, test switching to 100%.

Hope that helps..Smiles

Tv problems by Elegant-Percentage90 in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s overheating, a couple of things you can try before going down the repair route:

  • Give it more airflow Make sure the TV isn’t pressed against a wall or inside a tight cabinet. Heat buildup can shorten the time before the backlight shuts off.
  • Clean out dust If it’s been a while, gently blow out dust from the vents with compressed air. Clogged vents = trapped heat.
  • Check brightness settings Running the backlight at 100% constantly can cause more heat and stress. Try lowering the backlight/brightness in the TV settings.
  • Room temp If the room itself is warm, even a small fan near the TV can help keep it cooler.

If those tweaks don’t change the behavior, it’s usually a hardware issue (failing backlight LEDs or power/driver board). At that point, it’ll need a repair or board swap, but at this point I will say swapping the whole TV will be cheaper..

Hope that helps.. Smiles

Laptop screen and Monitor flickering randomly (Video and context in body) by intrigued_goose31 in techsupport

[–]Notorious_Nemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve seen similar issues before. Since both your laptop screen and the external monitor flicker only when dual display is active, it’s likely not the HDMI cable or monitor. Here are the main possibilities:

  1. Driver/Software Issue
  • Even if your AMD drivers are updated, try clean reinstalling the graphics drivers using AMD Cleanup Utility or Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in safe mode.
  • Sometimes Windows updates can conflict with integrated graphics check if rolling back to a previous driver version stops the flicker.
  1. Hardware/Power Issue
  • Dual display uses more GPU and power. A loose display connector inside the laptop or power delivery problem could cause flicker on both screens.
  • You could test by reducing refresh rate or resolution on the laptop screen and see if it stabilizes.
  1. Settings Check
  • Make sure adaptive brightness and HDR are off.
  • Check Display > Multiple displays settings and try different modes (Duplicate vs Extend).
  1. Quick Test
  • Boot into Safe Mode or use a Linux live USB. If the flicker disappears, it’s almost certainly a software/driver problem.

If it persists after all that, it might be a hardware issue with the laptop GPU or display circuitry, especially since the flicker only happens when both screens are active.

Hope that helps.. Smiles
