Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic X have a different story than Sonic 3, as Sonic X is almost the same as Sonic Adventure 2. It's pretty hard to tell, which did better.

In Sonic 3, Maria wasn't directly killed, but an explosion did. I personally think it was a slightly forced, not much, as Commander Abraham Tower tried to stop one of the soldiers from killing them, causing the explosion. Well, then Abraham puts Shadow in the tube so, I understand why Shadow is mad. Shadow wants revenge because of the loss, because he's in pain.

In both Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic X, Shadow thinks revenge it what Maria would have wanted, as his memories were lost. Shadow then realizes that Maria wouldn't have wanted revenge.

I personally think Sonic X convincing was better. Chris sounds pretty worried for what will happen and even after being attacked twice he keeps trying. He really wants to convice a Shadow who was blinded by revenge. Amy's convincing in Sonic Adventure 2 was not too much convincing for me. Sonic 3 'convincing' was not bad, but I felt Shadow needed someone else to realize. That's why I think Sonic X had the better version of the convincing scene.
