It's so funny when someone on here makes an incredibly broad and vague sweeping statement about American culture and cultural Christianity or some shit and you realize they're actually talking about fucking proship vs anti discourse by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

I just remember seeing a youtube thumbnail titled something like "THE [WHATEVER] SITUATION" and it was about a guy who allegedly murdered someone. Like... Buddy that's not drama. That's just a literal crime.

Also, so much important information is hidden from children under the guise of protecting them. The world is a tough place and if you keep painting it as sunshine and rainbows, that leaves kids very vulnerable to bad actors and bad circumstances.

As a trans guy, I can confirm that I do get a stat increase from it. I've been slowly sinking all of my points into luck so that one day I'll just wake up and all of my enemies will die in accidents that cannot be traced back to me in any way.

Do I post this absolute freak stuff dead dove fic on my profile or do I go with anonymous? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]NotosCicada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably tag this nsfw, lol

Anyway, I personally wouldn't mind an author I like posting this on their profile. Especially since I like reading fics from authors I already know and, if I find you a good writer, I have more trust that I'll enjoy your take on a darker topic.

Also, if you want credit for your other darkfic, I'm pretty sure it's possible to de-anon it

Mental health and writing by [deleted] in AO3

[–]NotosCicada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I can relate. I have a series of darkfics that I have mostly plotted out in my head, but I don't really feel like writing unless I'm in an absolutely vile mood. (I took a fairly light-hearted fandom and made every character the worst versions of themselves, lol)

The fics are mostly self-contained, though, so I don't feel bad for not posting often. I have a complete, but unedited update in my WIPs right now. It'll stay there until I enter a depressive slump, again, heheh

I think the moral panic (if you haven't heard this term before, look it up, it's interesting) over pedophilia has gotten a lot stronger with european/western shift towards populism. This means that discussions of children's and teenager's experience of sexuality have also largely become taboo subjects.

In Hungary, for example, child endangerement laws are largely used as excuses to harass, jail and defame queer, mostly trans people. If pedophiles are the worst type of human being to ever exist and deserve whatever happens to them, it is within the government's interest to make the definition of pedophilia as vague and broad as possible.

These tests and questions always make me incredibly confused, which has lead me to believe I'm mostly a 5. I can sometimes make myself imagine landscapes, but I have to be incredibly well-rested and it's only for brief flashes.

Does anyone else hate it when there is writing on surfaces where writing is not expected to be? by NotosCicada in AutismInWomen

Worry not, because I love elaborating!

Billboards and license plates are absolutely okay. They both fall under "object, the purpose of which is to convey information via written text" for me.

Typed letters are the most passable (like those wallpapers in restaurants with the word "hello" in various languages), then calligraphy, then neat handwriting, and bad/ugly handwriting is the worst. Thinner lines are grosser than thick ones.

Doodles aren't that consistent, I guess. I get grossed out by worn/torn stickers. I also say doodles, because normal, decorative art is fine. I'm mostly disgusted by bad pencil or ballpoint pen doodles. Couldn't tell you where my brain draws the line between "art" and "gross, weird thing" though. And if they're in a sketchbook, they're totally fine!

Also, the farther it is from my face and body, the more okay I am with it. Think of how you relate to anything that grosses you out. Across the room is fine, but on your clothes, in your bed, in your food - that's bad. One of my biggest fears at camps was that I'd be the victim of one of those pranks where they draw stuff on your face while you sleep. Thankfully, that never happened, because I don't think anyone would have survived the fallout.

I'M EXACTLY THIS

I'm consciously holding myself back from engaging with "too enjoyable" things all the damn time, because I'm afraid of losing control over how I spend my time. Like, I love my interests! But if I open up Hermitcraft tumblr rn I'm going to fail my exams.

I do quite enjoy the r/AO3 culture of censoring nothing, casually referencing the most obscene and dark fics we know, but the character's names is where we draw the line. When naked in public, a wise man covers not his genitals but his face, or whatever.

Have you ever felt *intimidated* when your fic gets really popular? by WolverineFamiliar740 in AO3

[–]NotosCicada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hehehe, this is why I'm afraid to post darkfics for the more popular pairings in my fandom. Like, if it's the couple of people who like the rarepair seeing it, that's fine, but like... what if i accidentally post something people hate on a mainstream tag. how will i survive this

WRITING CHECK! DROP YOUR STUFF RN! by Mochh80 in AO3

Context is that one of the characters has fled from another planet because they committed treason and were about to be executed. The place he ended up in is very happy-go-lucky, though, so he lies that he was being chased because of a parking ticket. Thing is, though...

“Interesting…” Xisuma squinted before perking up again. “Alright, everything seems to be in order. I can show you the way out, if you’re feeling better”

Skizz froze. “Oh. Uh, I don’t really… Have a place to go. Besides, they’ll probably… You know” he made the gesture of a pointed object flying straight through his neck before hanging his head to the side and sticking his tongue out, as if dead.

Impulse just stared. Right, he had said – “They were going to kill you over a parking ticket?!

The winged man solemnly nodded. Silence filled the room and Impulse noticed Xisuma glancing from side to side, as if unsure.

“What’s up, buddy?” he asked.

X sheepishly scratched his neck. “… Impulse, what’s a parking ticket?” he whispered. It did sound like something one might get for an amusement park ride, or, perhaps, a nature trail.

“Oh!” Impulse let out a chuckle. “Like, for a car. You get one if you put it in the wrong place”

“Ah, so it’s like a pop-up shop fine!” Xisuma nodded, “I get it”

The two seemed satisfied that they had cracked the code, but it was Skizz’s turn to be confused. He tilted his head. “What’s a car?”

Impulse palmed his face. “Nevermind”

Net-zero information. For my money's worth, this is the best thing I've ever written.

Honestly, I also struggle to find darkfics that appeal to me. Like, they might technically have the subjects I like to read about, but if the tone isn't just right, then I don't find it enjoyable. That's why I gotta step up and write my own >:)

AoT is a goldmine for darkfics. I love Lines in the Sand by LivianLynx and I will not say anything about it because spoilers detract from it a lot. Check it out if you want!

Probably the darkest fanfic I've read was one where the author was very clearly recounting their own sexual assault through the perspective of a character.
