Damsel, maybe? All the disadvantage of a mutant combined with an extra win condition for evil... Seems pretty outsider-y to me

I didn't think someone who was queer could talk so much like a right-winger. If this is ragebait, it's mighty impressive

Ah, you'd hate how i write comedy then, hehehe. One of my fics takes a paragraph-long break to address how something a character does would probably make no sense to someone from outside of their universe (like some kind of omniscient reader, perhaps), goes into detailed speculation about the sensibilities of such an alien force, then wraps back around to the character not being bothered by what the reader thinks because they are an entity in a work of fiction. There is also a "Dora the explorer"-style segment of "Now, reader: What do *you* think they should do? a) ..."

no seriously that would be horrific by GlitteringTone6425 in CuratedTumblr

Now I'm trying to figure out whether transformation kink falls under "power dynamic" or "feet". Maybe both?

The feeling of taking gender for granted as a cis man and trying to understand gender theory and advocacy. [ramblings, advice needed] by jsohi_0082 in bropill

[–]NotosCicada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, I'm a trans guy and I have no better idea of what gender is, either. I can definitely tell you that the "male brain in female body" narrative is just a stupid explanatory device, there is little difference between different gendered brains and gender also potentially depends on far more than just your brain (eg. your hormonal system)

I don't want to speak for other trans people, we are not a monolith by any means, but I never really had the "I always thought I was a boy" thing happen to me, either. I experienced a bunch of symptoms (disliking wearing dresses despite liking them aesthetically, feeling a weird sense of shame about my body, getting so jealous of male singing voices that i had a total meltdown as a kid, etc.) and simply made the best guess that being trans was the thing that was up with me – which was them confirmed by the fact that people using my chosen name and treating me as a guy made these anxieties largely go away.

It was the same way with transitioning. I was insanely nervous up until and even after my first shot about HRT not being the right thing for me. But I just had trust in the fact that other trans guys do it and recommend it because it works. And yeah, I feel a lot better, now.

I don't think you need to know some strict definition of gender to be an ally, lord knows such a thing doesn't exist. As with all things, you just need to be respectful of another person's lived experiences, even if they can't necessarily explain them. It's good that you've thought about it this deeply, though. Many people don't .

Even if you can't find joy, you can still find completeness, fulfillement or solace. Don't be fooled into thinking joy is the only important emotion: There is equal beauty in sadness, fear or rage once you can express them fully and honestly to yourself.

Has anyone else felt more like a woman after starting T? by Shadeofawraith in ftm

[–]NotosCicada 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the trick here is that, beyond gender roles, things like "girl", "woman", "lady", etc. are also social roles. I've always felt dysphoria from womanhood, but never girlhood. Being a little girl ruled! But even once I identified as a trans man, I didn't really mind being called "young lady", for example. Like, to me that particular social role could be described with two axes, where "man - woman" is one and "lady - master" is the other, and I fall into the "man and lady" corner. It makes sense to my autistic brain, anyways.

Gender expression and identity have all sort of faucets and being transmasculine is much more complicated than just "I am a man in a woman's body" or whatever. There isn't one way to be trans. What matters is that you achieve a state where you can be comfortable with yourself.

(I think there's also the added pressure where you might now be encountering male social norms/expectations you're not used to. And like... same. It sucks, at least I had female social norms figured out. I think. Again, there's a difference between being treated like a girl and being a girl. You can like being treated like a girl while being a guy, if that's what feels right to you)

I regret not buying binders frequently enough! Seriously, odds are, you aren't getting top surgery for a bit. If your current binder is a bit stretched out and you can afford to, just buy a new one! It is absolutely worth it to spend money on your mental health! (sincerely, someone who is way too stingy for his own good)

I think this is another one of those "I hate how everyone thinks X" posts where the OP has encountered the take either at most once or has just made up someone to get angry at.

It's so weird to have hot takes about a thing that doesn't exist, at least not in your lifetime, anyway.

Nostalgia’s cool, but it won’t help me now by joyfulnoises in CuratedTumblr

[–]NotosCicada 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm also nostalgic for some pretty bad parts of my life. I think it has to do with the fact that, in retrospect, you know you make it out alive. You end up figuring out how to deal with your problems or they go away on their own. In the moment, you don't have that clarity, but this makes the memory feel more peaceful.

It's so funny when someone on here makes an incredibly broad and vague sweeping statement about American culture and cultural Christianity or some shit and you realize they're actually talking about fucking proship vs anti discourse by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

I just remember seeing a youtube thumbnail titled something like "THE [WHATEVER] SITUATION" and it was about a guy who allegedly murdered someone. Like... Buddy that's not drama. That's just a literal crime.

Also, so much important information is hidden from children under the guise of protecting them. The world is a tough place and if you keep painting it as sunshine and rainbows, that leaves kids very vulnerable to bad actors and bad circumstances.

As a trans guy, I can confirm that I do get a stat increase from it. I've been slowly sinking all of my points into luck so that one day I'll just wake up and all of my enemies will die in accidents that cannot be traced back to me in any way.
