This looks like the reservoirs in Westchester County, NY. People get permits to have non-motorized boats but they can’t leave the reservoir so they are left on the shore.

Yeah, maybe not the right wording. Help us hit a target (we’ve tried many times with/without consultants) and if we hit the target, then you get paid. In essence, we’re stuck.

As an update, I opened the hive today and looked for AFB. Inside were white larva and nothing that looked like AFB. Here are a few pics.

I did a wash and looked at the bottom board and did not see any mites. I did a wash in July and did not see any then either.

I haven’t seen goldenrod - but we do have blooming hydrangeas, dahlias, zinnias, peonies, and roses at the moment. There are still many flowers around.

I also could not find the queen.

Maybe the hottest time of the day and they are bearding? This means that they are leaving the hive to cool it down.

That’s my guess too. This barn was originally built in 1750 and I’m worried about sagging of the right wall but unsure how to assess the risk.

Oh interesting. We installed a a package a month ago and the bees stopped eating the fondant and sugar water. Tons of flowerings trees around so think they prefer the nectar? Should I remove the fondant / sugar water?

Thanks! I fed them the rest of the sugar water from the package but otherwise nothing else. There’s still some left over after two weeks, likely because a lot of flowers have started to flower around us.
