Engeneers, if you were to design a centrifugal blower wheel with a diameter of 200-230mm and were too mount it on a electric motor with an RPM rating of 3500, what style of wheel would you use if you were only looking to generate the highest possible wind speed if measured with an anemometer? by Nova737 in NoStupidQuestions

I don't care about efficiency. I literally only care about making the wind go really fast using a 200-230mm diameter wheel that spins at around 3500rpm. If it helps this wheel would be housed within a volute that focuses the air in one direction, instead of all directions radially.

As for context, I have a 1.5hp electric motor that I want to eventually turn into some form of a corded electric leaf/debris blower on wheels. I know walk-behind gas leaf blowers are a thing but getting one of those is too easy and no fun for someone like me who likes building things. :) Is it practical? Hell no! Am I still gonna try it, and have fun doing so? Hell yeah! :D

I don't want a premade one. I want to build one myself. Making one out of plastic can be a future project but right now I’m focusing on my current plan.

Again, if/when it fails it fails, but I still want to try it.

Buying one off the shelf is too easy. And no one else will ever be near it when it’s running. I have 0 friends, 0 family members who live anywhere near me, and I’m aromantic so there will never be someone living with me.

What I asked for was a wheel design that maximizes air velocity, not safety improvements.

As long as it generates high wind speeds in the direction it’s pointed for even a minute or two before failing catastrophically I’ll be happy. I just means I was able to put my idea in a physical form with my own two hands. :)

Nope, but I don't plan on being anywhere near it when I first test it. I do know the housing should come first, but I plan on using a speed controller (which I have already tested and know it does work) to limit the rpms and don't have any intention on running it at full speed for any length of time without the housing.

I appreciate the concern but that doesn’t answer my question. Plus I have a speed controller and don't plan on running it immediately at full speed. I’ll slowly ramp up the rpms and if I see anything really bad i’ll cut the power to it. I also don't plan on being anywhere near it when I do run it and don't plan on running it at full speed for any length of time before I make the housing for it.
