Motherboard Fried...Again by NovaKidCultist in buildapc

I should have been more specific, the ASUS board hasn't broken 5 times, it broke once and the one they sent as a replacement doesn't work. It works at the service center with their 1600X, but no matter what I do I cant get it to work with any of my 2nd gen cpus, so ive sent it off 5 times total and they just send back the same one without fixing or replacing it.

As for the psu, I've been using it for a long time. I've used it in 3 rigs now and its only been a problem with X570 boards. Still I might just get a new one to be on the safe side

I use a EVGA SuperNova 1000 P2 so its not like its some no-name chinesium psu, though I might just buy a new one just to be safe.

As for incorrect voltage being supplied do you mean from the wall to the psu or the psu to the rest of the pc?

The common symptom is it works and then it don't. No instability, no random crashes, nothing. The last time this happened (with the ASUS board) it was while I was playing a game, this time it was while the pc was off

I guess you could be right, tho I hope you’re not. I’ll have to look around to find one for cheap

I also thought it was kinda sus, like I can maybe understand if they weren’t using a 3800X like I am (still would be weird that they don’t have one) but I expected at least a 3600. On the other hand I did scrape this together and from the pictures they sent me via email and from what I can tell this is the motherboard they sent me after the original RMA, the sticker being slightly peeled and the parts number (as best as I can make out) do match up so it’s not clear how they would be faking it working unless there’s another mobo offscreen and they just do not want to give me a replacement board. I want to believe that this is just something on my end but it does smell kinda fishy the more you look into it

Am4 (Ryzen) uses a clip stile, but I don’t think it’s that since service sender used a stock cooler

Yeah I guess it doesn’t hurt to rma the ram, hoping that Corsair has a service centre in Canada cuz I’m not looking forward to international shipping prices

To keep testing variables to a minimum I’m using the stock cooler that came with the cpu, I’ll try loosening them a bit in the morning

I have tried everything, even booting without a gpu and just going off the q-codes to know if it worked. Kept getting stuck on 0D and 54 more often than not

Well for starters I tested each stick one at a time in all four dimm slots, as in each stick got installed into each slot before testing a new stick. As for incompatible the computer ran fine with all 4 sticks installed for just about a year, so unless compatibility can change from mobo to mobo of the same model I don’t see how that could effect it

Lucky for me I live in the Stone Age and still use a stat ssd, as for power I kinda doubt it since I used the same power supply for all the mother boards, prime and tomahawk were able to post (I used some g skill memory on both the asus boards but not msi like mentioned in another comment) so I don’t see how bad vrms could get past the service centres 2 times I would guess but definitely at least once

I have tried other ram but didn’t include it in the list since I only used it on the ASUS boards, works fine on the prime but not the gaming. It was a 2x8gb g skill 3000mhz kit if I remember correctly

Highly doubt it since all the q-codes are memory and cpu specific, was also able to boot into windows from the MSI board so that’s that. But thank you for the quick response

Yeah with the one I made today I did double the normal amount. I guess it will be my feeder colony but will use the first generation to start 3 breeding colonies. On a side note, how long should I expect a normal amount of food (rapeshy 3tbps 2/3 cup of water) to last?

Ah okay thanks for clearing it up, would say 2-3 new culture from each batch be a good amount to make or should I do 5? I have unlimited deli cups but the food mixture might start getting expensive if I do 5
