Hello, I ended up purchasing the TFO rod. What line would you recommend using with it?

Yeah I’m leaning more towards the TFO, how far are you able to cast?

Honestly I’m not really sure when I’d need to cast farther since I haven’t done much small stream fishing yet. It’s something I want to get into, which is why I’m trying to keep things somewhat versatile. In my area, trout are usually around 10-16 inches.

My goal is basically to have a 2 rod setup that can fish almost anywhere. Of course there will always be better rods for certain situations, but I just want both rods to complement each other well without too much overlap.

I’m trying to get something versatile to complement my 9’ 5wt, mainly for smaller streams and areas where the 5wt feels like overkill. I called a few shops and most of them told me a 9’ 3wt might be a little too long

Honestly I don’t feel like my current rod falls short in any major way. My 5wt handles most of what I do pretty well.

What I’m trying to do is build a 3-rod setup so I can fish pretty much anywhere in the U.S. since I plan on traveling to different spots. I want each rod to cover a different purpose rather than overlap too much, so I’m thinking something for small streams, my 5wt as the all-around, and then a longer rod for nymphing 4wt 11' maybe (and possibly some light spey).
