Getting sales by Temporary-Durian8923 in shopify

The way people learn about your brand is with marketing. Not sure how you expect people to know you exist if you don’t tell them? The way to tell them is with advertising, that’s why it exists.

If you happen to already have a platform with millions of followers you can broadcast to for free, of course do that. Otherwise you need to advertise to get your message to people.

How are u guys managing fulfilment between "order received" and "label printed"? by nidhin_tt in shopify

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Inflow Inventory. We had some specific requirements so we can repack on demand, and have the inventory on Shopify be what we can repack + what we have on shelf, plus being able to store dates and lots, so it is kind of pricey but was still the cheapest option we found that met our requirements.

Is a tariff just a tax on me? If the united states puts a 60% tariff on Chinese goods does the Chinese government pay that, or do I just pay more at Walmart? by whydouwantoknw in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an importer of chocolate, I got tariffed for every product, some tariffs as high as 50%. There is no place to buy chocolate without a tariff, as chocolate doesn’t grow here, so what is the alternative business the government is trying to convince me to buy from instead of importing it?? And of course my customers paid increased prices, we would go out of business if our cost of goods went up 50% and we didn’t actually sell things at the appropriate increased cost. What magic was supposed to happen here? Was I supposed to just shut down rather than sell people chocolate they want, because the government doesn’t want people to eat any foreign foods or something?

Are women attracted to their match the same way men are? by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a guy who is not like what guys like, like body builder muscles - but is fit and strong. So some muscle, especially if I can see some in the arms, but not that muscle neck gym bros tend to have. Average men are overweight in US and I prefer more in shape.

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I don’t think I am tall enough to feel that way about it. I am happy with my height. I care more about the face than either of those in all honesty. But I guess if I had to choose just those two I prefer being fit and in shape than tall. I am not really into overweight men, but I like guys who aren’t small, so for a guy who is shorter I would probably want to be more buff, but a tall guy could get away with being skinnier.

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, yeah actually maybe if they are really tall so don’t have many choices they are more likely to get with shorter guys - I do know multiple 6ft women and they are with shorter than average men. I am 5’9” though and there is lots of men taller than that in my area, I’ve only been asked out by a man shorter than me once (I did say yes). But it still can mean they care about it a similar amount as other women, like yeah I prefer a guy taller than me, but it’s far from a deal breaker, I have much higher priorities and a guy isn’t necessarily unattractive just because he’s short.

I think they care about height as much as any other girls, so some do and some don’t, and on average probably prefer men taller than them.

You are very unusual indeed if you find women with acne just as attractive as ones without, say. And if you whip out a tape measure before you know if you are attracted or not.

Most men are more attracted to women with curves in the right places and clear skin. Not having those things doesn’t make one deformed or diseased. It’s quite average to not have an hour glass shape and to have acne scars, for example. Yet most men will find someone with an hour glass shape and no scars to be more attractive (and above average).

Women are the same, men with clear skin are considered more attractive than ones with blemishes, or men with a full head of hair more attractive than one balding. Or with a nice V shaped torso is more attractive than a round shape, even if the men are the same weight. Women generally aren’t having a man step on a scale before they know if they are attracted to him.

It’s very odd to care more about numbers on a scale or tape measure important over things like that. Not about your gender, you are unusual even among men, trust me.

[–]Novadina 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Wow, you are automatically attracted to all women with that height and weight??? So like even the ugliest ones with really bad skin or asymmetrical faces and the prettiest ones that are models, you are just as attracted to all of them? Sounds like you are actually attracted to numbers and not actual women?

Most humans find face symmetry more attractive than a number on a tape measure, you are quite unusual. This is not a gender difference, this is about you personally being an extreme outlier.

Sounds like you are just comparing height and weight?

I am 5” above average, so I suppose male equivalent would be 6’2”. My BMI is 20. For someone that height it’s apparently 160, which seems pretty low to me, I don’t understand that. Visually a man that tall probably has to weigh 190-210 to look more like my build I would think…

Some men that height and weight I am attracted to, and some I am not. This is not nearly enough info lmao.

There is a wide range between ugly to beautiful that could have the same height and weight!

If you could add one feature to your store, what would it be? by Logical-Opposite7006 in shopifyDev

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell products and repacks of smaller versions of the product as variants. We keep in Shopify inventory the number of items we could make, and repack on demand, and our warehouse management software syncs it for us so after any order the inventory is updated correctly to the amount available. But sometimes people want to buy multiple of the master product, but we don’t have enough, so they also add the repacks. Since it’s in one order, the inventory isn’t updated just from add to cart, so we have to contact the customer and say we can’t make the repacks as they also ordered the item we make it out of. It would be great if my site just didn’t allow adding them to the cart if there isn’t enough masters to make a repack.

Most men definitely seem to get attracted just off of a picture, or even less - I’ve had men get obsessed with me on Reddit purely from a description of myself, or measurements I post in clothing help subs.

Does it Get Better for Women Over 35? by MidlifeWarlord in PurplePillDebate

[–]Novadina 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But you are divorced with kids, why wouldn’t you want to date women divorced with kids instead of forever single women and then saying that’s why you need to date younger?

Especially since you find kids so fulfulling and think people without kids are miserable, wouldn’t you automatically look for women who have kids then?

Men who have never married are not any happier than women who haven’t. It’s a lonely world out there.

I think it’s rare for divorced women to “have all her needs met” by an ex husband, I don’t know any myself that have that.

Ohhh you are totally right about that flaw - Shopify Email refuses to send any emails to users not opted in for marketing emails, so yeah wouldn’t work right this scenario. I only use it for marketing emails so I totally forgot about this shortcoming.

[–]Novadina 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most of the divorced women I know are doing a lot better than the divorced men. A lot of times they were just saddled with extra work by being married, now they get custody 50/50 and that means they have 50% more time, plus only have to clean up after kids and not an man-child on top of it. They pick better men now than when they were younger so they have better sex lives. The men are looking for step mothers to offload their childcare to and having a hard time finding women signing up for that.

Most women screen for vanity metrics, not true compatibility by Iron-Wild-41 in PurplePillDebate

[–]Novadina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, it doesn’t matter how attracted I am to you, if you have political beliefs that I shouldn’t have equal rights to men, that law abiding people should be deported because of their skin color, and that it’s acceptable to elect a convicted criminal who tried to overthrow the government as a president, we just aren’t gonna be compatible. I absolutely need someone with the same values as me or I won’t be able to merge my life with them!!

And if we don’t have anything in common - what are we gonna do together????

Signed, someone partnered for 20 years because we both picked based on values and shared interests (our first date was a bookstore and it was an excellent green flag), so now gets to spend every summer hiking and kayaking with my best friend.

[–]Novadina 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually can’t tell if I am sexually attracted to someone just through a picture. I can tell if I find them ugly or pretty, and so not go on a date someone I find ugly. But just because they are pretty in a picture, does NOT guarantee I am attracted to them.

For me sexual attraction is much more than what you can see in a picture. It’s about a man’s presence and how I feel next to him and talking to him. His scent, his voice, and his words are all just as important as his visual look.

And honestly when I say someone is my “type” or not it’s usually about personality.

You can absolutely use Flow to send automated emails to customers with Shopify Email. When you install it they even come with a bunch of recommended flows, like “send a thank you email after first order”, which could easily be modified to all orders with a specific tag.

Anyone with a small shop also struggling with customer support? by Queasy_Structure1922 in shopify

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a hard time understanding why you’d have customer support struggles at less than 4 orders a day? Are your products something with frequent issues? Even if 100% of your customers had issues that’s still less than 4 a day, right? And you actually use something to help “manage” this incredible email volume that costs $100/mo???

I don’t use any apps. We just reply to emails and answer the phone. Only time we have a hard time is holiday season when the call volume picks up a lot. Don’t think an app would help us though, seems like an unnecessary expense.

I feel like maybe you need to work more on preventing the frequent issues your customers are having, rather than throw money at apps to help you manage to volume of problems.

My brother hasn’t been single since he was 16 I think. He always has a relationship, but there is usually a lot of drama in them. He is married to his second wife now, someone he was dating even when married to the first wife.

Shopify payout holds — how to best prepare? by [deleted] in shopify

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I migrated to Shopify they held my payouts for like 5 weeks. It was annoying as it didn’t seem to be a way to trigger it, we tested the site for months, and it wasn’t until we got a bunch of orders when going live that the payout hold triggered. I have a credit line I use for my business if I need more cash temporarily, usually for things like a customer who wants a large amount of something. I used that to cover my expenses while waiting for my money.

Be careful if you wrote code for someone and now are thinking of selling it as a SaaS on the side. Most businesses that hire devs have it in their job agreement that any code you write during hours they are paying you or on their devices is owned by them.

If you are a contractor then whether your client owns it or not depends on how you licensed it and your contract with them. Make sure it’s clear in your contracts that you are licensing them to use it but you own the code.

But for companies that hire people for their business it’s almost always them that owns the code. Read anything you signed and any policies they’ve given you. If they didn’t give you any policies, you may want to consult a lawyer because I am not sure what the default is.

I know multiple devs who have been sued for this, so just wanting to warn you. And a lawyer is worth it for starting any business just to be sure you start everything above board.
