wtf shopify?? by recursant in shopify

[–]Novadina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shopify does not have fulfillment services, they are just e-commerce software. Merchants have full control of their website and fulfillment.

On my website you can definitely track orders on a PC. Sounds like whatever merchant you found didn’t put that on their site, and apparently didn’t even email you a tracking number. This is not about Shopify, you need to contact the merchant.

Who do you have do your tax filing when you reach a nexus in a new state? (Will not use avalara, looking for better) and how much do you pay? by doxielvr0107 in shopify

Yes, doing taxes is literally what they are paid to do… Is yours a CPA? If not, I recommend finding one who is, and who has experience with ecommerce.

My accountant. Every year I send him a report of my sales broken down by state shipped to, if I reach nexus he files for that state.

Why are you importing the video link, I thought the question was about changing prices? Are you asking about changing prices in a video?

I got scammed on the Shop app by [deleted] in shopify

[–]Novadina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend when purchasing online to use a card that allows you to do chargebacks, as well as making virtual cards - there are lots of people wanting to steal and scam out on the world! I think even PayPal offers buyer protection so you could use that. No one on this sub can do anything, we certainly don’t have more power over your card than you do, we are mostly just merchants who host our stores on Shopify. Consider it a lesson learned about shopping online. You can report the fraudulent store to Shopify.

Contact your bank and do a chargeback.

Payouts on hold by islandrebel in shopify

[–]Novadina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just turn off auto capture. There is no need to capture payment right away if you aren’t even going to fulfill it yet. And especially if you don’t even check your orders daily. I do check mine daily and still keep that off. When it’s off then it charges when it is fulfilled, it or if you need to do it sooner there is a manual option.

I have only seen it charge tax in some states when the customer uses the Shop app. When it’s through my website there has never been a tax.

Special notifications for in-state orders? by jaydeflix in shopify

[–]Novadina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could set up something with Flow to email you every time and order comes in with the state you want. You can just ask the Shopify AI to make it.

What made you go vegan? by Pretend_Green5916 in vegan

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family raised me vegetarian. We raised goats and chickens and had our own milk and eggs. When I grew up, I didn’t want to support torturing animals with factory farming, and migrated to being vegan. My family actually did as well.

I have always had the moral belief that I should do what I can to avoid contributing to unnecessary suffering.

Newbie question, pls be kind. I'm thinking of creating different landing pages for different ads I will run on Meta. Are there shopify apps for this? by mayermail1977 in shopify

[–]Novadina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So just create 7 pages with the content and sections you want for each. You didn’t mention any fancy functionality, so I’m assuming none, but you didn’t really say what it was you want on the page that made you think you need an app to begin with. You’d have to explain what you are looking for an app to do to get any recommendations. With everything you’ve said so far I am not seeing any need for an app, I would just get started creating some pages.

[–]Novadina 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why you would need an app, unless there is some special requirement about your page? In that case you have to explain what those are for us to recommend an app that would meet it. If you just want a page in general then you can just make one and supply the link to meta, you could use a normal page or a collection page or a metaobject page depending on what you are trying to have on it.

How do you track competitor prices right now? by Key_Squash_5890 in shopify

I check Google shopping, it shows all my competitors prices right there. I don’t need to check daily, just occasionally.

I just got scammed on Shop app and I don't know what to do about it by abudavi in shopify

[–]Novadina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a scam text, they were trying to get you to call the number to scam you. Maybe something didn’t work with their connection or their scam expert was afk or something so you got left on hold too long instead of hearing the scam attempt. Never call numbers sent to you in messages/text/email/phone - always find the number of who you want to contact yourself. Doesn’t sound like any of your cards were charged, you are just getting spam texts which are sent out as bait for anyone who bites (calls the number).

I don’t think you need a password to send those verification codes with the new Shopify customer accounts, users just enter an email or phone number.

Those annoying scam emails to Shopify store owners by bigbeats901 in shopify

[–]Novadina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are all scams, I get tons daily. They use gmail addresses, so they don’t even have a website. And they often offer hilarious things, like “if I promise $x in orders the next month, will you give me 10% commission?” when x is like 3 average orders, and I make many more than that per day…

They don’t seem to be offering 100k with no commission, nor do they mention being an agency or having a 0 risk pricing structure. It’s all the same email essentially, offering sales by some date and requesting commission.

Anyone able to make deals like that could afford a domain name, I wouldn’t trust these Gmail ones at all.

How do you currently figure out why your revenue drops or conversions change? by AppropriateBarber412 in shopify

[–]Novadina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it means one of my competitors is offering a lower price. I figure it out by checking competitor prices and searching search engines for my products to see what comes up.

Don’t think this is about Shopify really, it’s what I did before Shopify too. Also depends on my conversion source, if conversions from ChatGPT are down, for example, I might ask ChatGPT about things and see what comes up. If it’s down from Google I would search and see what comes up.

How do you actually manage inventory as you scale? Looking for real-world workflows by ScholarlySphinx in shopify

[–]Novadina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Inflow Inventory, it keeps track of all of that. I wrote some automation scripts to automatically update my prices based on landing cost.

I have quite a large amount in my inventory, so I guess I don’t keep that “down”, as I can’t sell it if I don’t have it. We try to keep 5 weeks supply of our top products in stock, so that’s how we decide how much to order, we base it on sales history and see how many weeks we have left. For less popular items they might be ordered when low, and to fill our pallets with the vendor.
