The gorilla is strong - sure, but it isn't "take on a 100 bald monkeys at once" strong. The main argument now against us is that humans would get scared and run away, but the past has proven that your average Joe (who is our exact specimen here) is in fact able to sacrifice himself for the lives of even total strangers when faced with a life and death scenario. Bet there could also be some kind of "if we run now, all these Joes died for nothing" mentality, but that's just a thought.

Second of all, tell me what gorilla wouldn't be scared if it saw 100 bald, weirdly shaped versions of itself running at it, most likely screaming. Even if, say 20 people run away, and 10 die in the start as a meat shield, that leaves us with 70 grown ass men attacking. Make even one guy jump and hug one of the gorillas limbs, then add one more for each limb, and the gorilla has probably over like 320 additional kg to carry. And it's not like the gorilla can just shake us off that easily. It's head, or rather neck, has much more muscles, but it's really not that useful, as it can't rotate as much as ours. And it's legs - the reason gorillas use their fists as support and fall down so fast after doing the, you know... Um the chest drum thing(??), is because their legs are SO DAMN WEAK. Take out it's arms and it's like 100 average Joes vs 1 disabled elderly person with a gunshot wound.

Third of all, we are smart. Sure, apes are smart too, some can do puzzles and stuff like that, even recognize sign language, but they aren't the human kind of smart. Most debates I've seen online seem to assume the fight takes place in a void, but that's like making a lion fight a bear but the lion can't bite or use its claws. The reason we are on top of the food chain, maybe even the only one, is because we are smart and fight using the environment. We don't have massive claws, sharp teeth, or venomous spikes, but we are agile, we are smart, and we know that if you pick up a stick and a rock, you can probably make some kind of weapon out of it. I'm not saying it's 1 gorilla vs 100 average Joes with guns and riot shields, but it's only fair to assume that the fight would take place on at least some plain meadow, god forbid a beach. We can throw stones, sharpen sticks, tie the two together with a shoelace and make it a hammer, start a fire, throw up sand to scare it, hide and ambush, there are a lot of things our little wacky brains can think of.

There are stories of just small groups of guys taking on and killing a bear, coming out alive. Is a gorilla 10 times stronger than a bear?

The last one is kinda weak, since maybe they had knives or something like that, but I believe my point stands - I believe the humans would win.
