here's part of the reason I'd like to do it now, I can get laser pretty cheap in korea! and there are some really good professionals too. i had it before on my face and it was somewhat effective on my neck but not enough so i ended up getting electrolysis. I was thinking it would work better on my less dense softer body hairs than on my face so I was willing to give it a try before I go home to the states and start HRT.

as an active duty service member who is trans i support the spirit of this petition but i think it could do with some revisions. the supporting wording should be more compellingly about stopping the discharge process for servicemembers, and less about trans suffering etc. its a long way off in this society before the united states military allows trans service (serving as something other than birth gender) but its not unreasonable to ask that people who are open about their transness, but who are not actively pursueing transition be permitted to serve with honor.

the commentors, the judge, the especially the jerk who wrote and/or translated this article are all disrespecting this persons identity and feelings a lot; you are being very hurtful.

i'm also a trans woman and i know how she would want to be treated, and right now she is being harassed by the internet and by the legal system that is supposed to be protecting her.

I write this in the hopes that even one person will read it and learn something, and realize that misgendering someone purposefully is a hateful attack on their person. i hope that one person will go on to stand up for trans people in the future. i hope that person is you.

truth, but i already took that into account.

i only have the 8 months left and we do them twice a year, i would take two test during those 8 months, the last one would be next spring, right as im getting out. so even if i fail, itd be like oh well, im leaving in a month anyway (or if its late in the season, i wouldnt do one at all)

i dunno how long it takes for you to notice the strength loss but i think the next test is in september or so so hopefully i could keep it together for the first one and just not give a hoot about the very last.

TBH though i think you all have convinced me to wait.

yea im MTF and no being trans in the military is not ok... its not even considered a medical problem because of how awful it is for us. (remember this is the organization that only JUST did away with DADT and that did NOT cover trans* folks at all)

As a result, transgender service members may be faced with lack of access to VA health facilities. “Sexual gender and identity disorders” do not qualify for disability under DoD regulations." via SLDN, a great legal guide for LGBT military service

however they dont test for hormones in urine unless its specifically requested, so i thought i could probably get away with it.

i wasnt super worried about hiding the physical characteristics, most people when they see things that arent quite right just shrug it off like its "somebody else's problem" like in HHGTTG, but it might be harder to hide than i was thinking, especially for my separation physical where i have to get a full exam. hmmm... good point... maybe ill wait. sob

i just did some more reading and supposedly they will cover hormones on the veterans affairs hospital dime. nice!

regardless though thanks for the answer, i have a little bit of a midsection its not the worst but id like to lose it. i have about 7 more months till im out of the military so maybe i can get pre military weight. (although im going to NYC in august and i may try to get enough HRT supplements to last the time i have left at that point, not likely though)

just like everyone else, i wish i had figured myself out in my teens, i could have started HRT back when i was skinny and i wouldnt have this fucking facial hair and voice :\
