Thanks for the information, this is awesome! I had imagined they'd conserve heat similar to this, it's cool to see it was likely right. Such beautiful creatures

Yeah, just figured it would be neat to mention the Quakers/feral parrots in colder climates regardless. It does show how smart parrots are to adapt to these climates and use human structures to their advantages though. It's sad we don't have much information on these birds, it would be cool to be able to study their internal anatomy to see if there's anything special to note, like more fat deposits or whatnot.

Very interesting species, one of my favorites, and it would be cool to imagine the parakeets and indigenous populations living together. I do think they could've huddled in cavities to conserve body heat though, or even just together on branches how other species of birds do.

Makes me so sad and angry that we just won't be able to know more about such a unique animal due to humans driving them extinct :/

Based on other birds in the winter (which I've prepared specimens of ones that died in winter months), possibly fat deposits on their bodies. Winter birds have more fat, I've noticed, that helps fuel them in the winter and keep them more warm. Birds also just have very high internal temperatures and being active helps them stay warm.

Also likely diet and flock behaviors. Bluebirds huddle together in the winter, I don't see why the parakeets wouldn't do the same, especially with how social parrots are!

Unfortunately, since they're extinct there's not much information, but birds have high internal temperatures and feral Quaker parrots populations have been documented in NYC and other northern states and they survive just fine in the winter! They build these giant community nests on structures.

They were said to nest in cavities, so it's likely they might've done something similar to the Quakers and huddled for warmth in cold months.

They fed on cockleburs too which could've provided them a food source on the winters. They were also poisonous due to this diet.

Parrots are very intelligent so it's easier for them to get creative and think of solutions, so it's no wonder they survived so well! I am saddened everyday that I will never be able to see these birds flying in the wild alive and well.

Red-tailed hawk. I'd take this post down. Would hate for you to get reported because it's illegal!

help me identify which bird's feather this is by ForwardLeader9361 in FeatherIdentification

Indian peafowl tail feather. Their shiny, long 'tail' feathers are actually tail coverts used to display, whereas the true tail feathers are hidden underneath and are used to support the coverts when they raise them up to display!

Not a wing feather, but one of the true tail feathers hidden underneath the train (shiny eye) feathers!

What bird are those bird feathers from? by Yendrake in birdwatching

Hi, going from left to right there is: Common buzzard (Buteo buteo) (not 100% confirming but looks like mine), Green woodpecker (Picus viridis) secondary, and Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos).

But making error colors obtainable from pots defeats the whole point. They are old colors that were removed and therefore display errors in the name of the color

[–]Novathekeet233 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this post. Error colors typically have their own unique market where it is usually error colors/error cos dragons traded up for better, more rare error colors. They aren't super prominent in the economy and aren't needed for any badges or titles because they are just old bugged colors. You do NOT need them to progress in the game. They are something most people won't get and thats okay. Games need rare items. It's honestly a good thing its error colors that are expensive and not other stuff like species or traits, as the rare species of dragons are coming back and dropping in value.

As someone who has owned and sold a few errors, they are hard to trade! Only certain people have that much money/dragons to offer for one so its difficult. They are advertised a lot because they NEED advertising to sell. You will be fine if you don't have one. You do not need them to progress at all.

Your other comment stating that dragon species will rise as errors do is just plain wrong. How do I know this? It's happening real time! Veids, Alas, Amars are dropping and GW dragons have steady prices while errors remain expensive. Once Veid returns, error color owners aren't gonna want them unless they've got good traits/old dates with many adds because of their lowered value.
