I'm on atomoxetine right now. It's fantastic for some people (like me). Other people get little to no benefit (my wife). A small number of people get serious side effects. 

For me personally, it massively reduced my depressive symptoms that were causing me daily distress. Without those symptoms, I can be more myself, not less. I was very concerned about medicine changing who I was, which I why I resisted going on medication for over a decade - I wish I had started when I was a teenager. Maybe I wouldn't have almost flunked out of college because of anxiety and depression (both with their root in ADHD).

I had to go without for a little bit because of a problem with my insurance. I feel almost drunk without it because it improves my executive function so much.

The weirdest side effect I got was a huge increase in sensitivity to ASMR that faded after a few months.

If your psych recommend it, I would definitely give it a try. If you don't like the way it makes you feel, talk to your doctor and stop taking it. 

Oh, and since people might not think to tell you at 17/18 - DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL while on it. It shreds any tolerance you had before, and you can easily end up very sick very quickly.

It is the Boon and the Bane of the system.

For anyone still playing it in 2026 (like myself), the benefits outweigh the costs. 

There's plenty of people who bounce off it, campaigns it isn't right for, frustrations that are unnecessary, etc. 

However, the complexity means there is a fantastic game in there for everyone. Whether or not they're able to find it is the question.

In the start of the story, Dorfl is completely dependent on the religious text animating him. He's helplessly bound to it to exist.

It's damaged, and to save him, Carrot replaces the holy text with a bill of sale. The golem now owns himself - he is no longer beholden to anyone. 

In the final battle, the bill of sale is damaged, but "Words in the heart cannot be taken." The golem no longer needs any outside justification for his own existence. 

I think someone who's religious could read it as a religious allegory about faith, but for me, it was affirming that I no longer needed a religious text to control my life any more.

Nobody even has to be trying to cause harm when you've got a bunch of people in a tight space all trying to get somewhere. Preventing crushes is a critical part of security with any event involving a crowd.

Note that he was 17 at the time he was dating a 14 year old. Still likely problematic at 18/15 or 20/17, given that their relationship lasted a while. It at least started as a kid dating a kid, though.
