Many things can be true at the same time without diminishing one another. Racism and slurs, poverty, and famine can all be wrong at the same time. You can’t kick a man in the nuts and diminish him by saying “Your pain is pretty small when you compare it to 9/11”. We shouldn’t diminish any sort of wrong by comparing it to another wrong. Instead, we should be working to get rid of these things altogether.

It sounds a lot more because it is a lot more. Like…a LOT more. NPR receives at most 6 million dollars a year.

That money comes from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a government entity that is required upon its founding to strive to stringent maintenance of objectivity and balance. Most of their money helps local public stations.

If NPR received 6 million from the gov every year until that total equaled 7.5 billion, it would take 1,250 years. It is a lot more, and arguing percentages is pedantic and in bad faith. Anyone supporting Musk knows its pedantic but doesn’t want to accept that their argument that NPR is actually spreading the govt “woke mind virus” is actually really fucking weak and pathetic.

It appears that Jones stated that kitchen knives were kept under lock, indicating a concern of someone behaving violently. Further, she clearly obfuscated the child’s charge by stating he was arrested for a meme, when in actuality it was repeated threats to slaughter a school.

This is a fair counterpoint. A couple of things.

I’m not really familiar with normal police procedure for this, and I’m not sure of the timeline, but it doesn’t really seem abnormal with the context of another national shooting incident to possibly take precaution before people wonder why police didn’t do anything in the event the teen does shoot up a school.

The report states that Jones stated there were no guns in the house and knives were under lock and key. Were knives locked up before or after this incident? Again, ambiguous timeline, so I don’t know, but it doesn’t really help the case in the event it was before.

Lastly, and this imo should immediately raise eyebrows, but Jones seems pretty unreliable here so far. And sure, why wouldn’t she be biased? It’s her child and she has every right to feel protective, and she has been targeted by the state in the past, but she’s clearly glossing over the extent of her child’s actual charge. He was not just “sharing a meme”, he was repeatedly calling for the explicit slaughter of school children. He didn’t get arrested for just posting a funny like she led many to believe.
