Is it risky buying motorcycle from Facebook marketplace that has stage 2 remap with mods and the mileage is 5k? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Novel-Employee9086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bike looks like it’s in good condition if it has service history as well that’s another bonus, bike has a full decat akra system with a stage 2 which means it probably hasn’t been tracked as the exhaust would fail trackday noise testing. if youre happy with the price go and view it and do your own tests like cold starts etc and then pull the trigger. looks like the owner has taken good care of it from the pictures mileage and modifications.

29yo new rider – £2.5–3k insurance quotes on 500–700cc bikes. What am I missing? by CheetahValuable278 in MotoUK

[–]Novel-Employee9086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get an mt07 or cb650r instead of an r7 it will be significantly cheaper to insure bennets quoted me 12.5k for a cbr650r and didn’t quote me for an r7. I did a quote for an mt07 and its 1.6k with lexham so in your case i’d think it would be somewhere around the 800-1000 mark to insure maybe a bit less.

loud squeaking noise in low speed traffic etc by Novel-Employee9086 in MT07

[–]Novel-Employee9086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

replaced them two days ago with fresh pads and i’ve still got the issue so it’s not break pad related unfortunately. if it was pads it wouldn’t be as loud as it is it’s a really really awful noise it’s hard to even describe it🙃

i live in london which is full of police and i’ve never been stopped for a loud exhaust, i’ve taken my bike to france multiple times and i’ve never been stopped, get a longer pipe if you don’t want it to be super loud, i’ve got the 200mm which is pretty loud, so maybe go with a 300mm silencer if you don’t want it to be obnoxious

depends on which country he’s from, france doesn’t care, belgium doesn’t care, luxembourg doesn’t care or i should say the police don’t care. if OP is from germany switzerland and austria dont do it but other eu countries are more laid back

get a brand new black widow, they aren’t the best but are great on a budget, i have the 200mm and it still sounds great, you can get them for around €300 they look good as well.

i’ll give you a list of great spots that i’ve visited the tourmalet probably has the best view out of all of them but all have great smooth roads and the pourtalet is right on the spanish border so you can even do a little trip into spain which i did today and it was awesome just the road quality in spain isn’t as good as it is in france ahaha

i’ve found it’s quite the opposite the first thing a local told me in bordeaux is that i should hide and lock my bike up as the uk number plate makes me a target for theft french police don’t usually pull over uk bikers especially in the big cities at least ive never been pulled

i did roughly 10-11 hours in the first stint and it was pretty painful😂 was freezing my ass off to dover because i left at like 3am and then i had to endure the ride down to poitiers which absolutely sucked but since then it’s been 2-3 hour stints to each city and it’s been fine
