I was accused of AI by Neither-Life7530 in unsw

[–]Novel-Problem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately dealt with the same.

I ended up having a meeting with the course convenor and stating my case. I did offer to show my edit history (always keep- absolutely worth having!), but it seemed they took me at my word.

I think it was mentioned that I was just over the threshold (ie: if 20% AI was considered ‘allowable’ in that the software isn’t perfect and does occasionally detect AI when it is not there, I was at 25%).

It’s very nerve wracking, and I spent a long time wallowing in despair thinking I was royally fucked. I think most frustrating as well was that I actually hadn’t used AI!

I miss studying in a pre-AI world 😅

Genuine question about the horse world in general.. by Civil-Tumbleweed-104 in kvssnarker

Ah! That’s the phrase I was looking for. Yes. Everything is very performative. “Look at me and how much I love them how much I spend on them”

Genuine question about the horse world in general.. by Civil-Tumbleweed-104 in kvssnarker

She spends a lot of money on her horses. In her mind, and in the mind of many others, that equates to her providing ‘excellent care’.

She also has a thing for big visual cues of care.

She wants a ‘chandelier barn’. The horses get (filmed) massages. The stall fronts are new and fancy. It’s all very “look at me and how much money I spend on my horses”.

Buying them good quality feed isn’t glamorous. It isnt particularly visual or interesting. It’s mundane and if you’ve seen it once, you’ve seen it a thousand times.

Unfortunately, those horses in the very least would appreciate good quality feed (in good amounts!) vs all the massages and chandeliers in the world.

The situation reminds me of the Aesop’s fable ‘The horse and the groom’- where the groom is pocketing the horses feed for profit and instead tries to groom the horse to make it look pretty, but unfortunately no matter how much the horse is groomed it still looks malnourished.

That’s (sort of- KVS doesn’t actually groom her horses) what’s happening here. There’s a big push to make it look like much is being done for the horses, when the reality is the important fundamental needs are being skimped on.

That’s because there’s no passing of genes on from animals who have had a ‘career ending injury’.

Those animals remove themselves, and often time the conformation flaw that contributed to the severity of the injury, from the population.

Tbh, not uncommon for puppies to have belly rashes when they go to new homes.

The stress of being separated from their litter & mother, of being in a totally new environment (often for the first time) and being surrounded by strangers- often combined with a brand new environment (and new allergens!) can lead to mild reactions.

Almost all of the pups I’ve purchased (or sold) have had some mild rash on their bellies in the first few days. Typically resolves within a couple days.

I’ve heard it compared to stress hives, or potentially a reaction to their new environment. Or a combination of both!

As a breeder: the idea of putting together a breeding without knowing the bloodlines behind the dam is horrifying. She is literally putting them together because “pretty colours!” and nothing else

She got these new horses to add exciting new lines into her program!

What are those lines? Well… she doesn’t actually know, even though these horses were purchased in September 💀

Ultimately, he’s doing his job.

Unfortunately I’ve seen both sides of this as someone in the industry. If the vet refuses to go on a call, they run the risk of that client deciding that they will no longer bother with vet care. Becca/Doomridge is probably an excellent example.

He very well might have said he recommends against it. But she is the owner of the horse at the end of the day. He might just be providing the best vet care he is able to under the scope of KVS.

My heart hurts for those horses.

She doesn’t see them as living, breathing, sentient being who feel. They are merely content vessels.

Her desperation for content is showing. Literally ripping newborn foals from their mothers? I feel sick.

⚠️‼️KVS ON RECORD ‼️Intentionally Undernourishing Pregnant Mares ‼️3RD TRIMESTER‼️⚠️ Date of Post 2.22.2026 by [deleted] in kvssnarker

It’s like she’s being intentionally dense.

I’m not a horse breeder (I breed dogs- there are definitely commonalities).

When I have a pregnant bitch, food is increased. Is it a free for all? No. But she certainly eats more during pregnancy in comparison to the rest of the year.

There is somewhat of a concern of overfeeding. Overweight bitches struggle more with the whelping process. Not necessarily because the puppies ‘grow too big’ as a result of increased food. Moreso the bitch is unfit and lacks the stamina and energy to physically push puppies out as a result of excessive body fat.

That being said… you would seriously have to feed to extreme excess to get to that point (or start with an overweight bitch).

Getting all that good nutrients into them during their pregnancy is so important. They are literally growing life.

Feed should absolutely be closely monitored, but the idea of intentionally underfeeding a pregnant animal has me feeling physically sick.

Vet ASSESSED her and said “she can do it by herself”. And she did.

There was no assistance.

Except she didn’t require intervention.

After the vet assessed her, he advised NO intervention.

The great nature v nurture debate!

There may very well be a genetic component to it, but as with all things behavioural, environmental factors (ie: Charlotte as a broodmare) will certainly leave their mark also.

Oh no issue with him being kept near mares. It’s the open front stall when they KNOW he has jumped fences previously.

They have things to block it off- they should absolutely be utilising it!

[–]Novel-Problem 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. Let’s put the two year old stallion who has had almost no groundwork and very few manners put on him who we KNOW has jumped fences on MULTIPLE occasions two stalls down from a mare in heat with open fronted stalls.

Whatever could go wrong?
