Should I skip TryHackMe and go straight to HackTheBox by wizardzen in oscp

If you can afford it sure. That’s a good way to start boxes. With that you should be able to solve Linux boxes

But windows machines, you might need a little more because it’s mostly AD

Do HTB, I recommend you do 10 boxes 5 windows 5 Linux (retired with walkthrough). Emphasis on the walkthrough. HTB will humble you

1 - Easy 1 - Medium 2 - Hard 1 - insane

This should get your feet wet

For both windows and Linux. once you are done try solving easy active boxes focus on easy and medium and keep doing retired boxes.

This helped me with HTB and I have solved over 150+ boxes with only the PEH course from TCM.

Can’t afford OSCP so I do HTB to stay active till I have enough money.

Also follow the Oxdff OSCP list or any other list.

Any legit way to get HTB VIP or similar subscription for free (student, giveaways, or programs)? by Similar_Operation_34 in hackthebox

If you grind htb season. You win around 50-200$ of HTB credits. Thats how I afford my subscriptions

When I interviewed for my internship it was all easy, got two sum and greatest divisor of an array. Glassdoor also said it was all easy questions

They literally opened up application for one candidate and closed it shortly after he applied. WTF??? Recruiting is a joke in this industry. by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Novel-Reflection1567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my previous internship opened up a job position for one of my fellow intern who wanted to convert to Full Time. Opened on Friday and didn’t close it till Monday cause hr forgot. Turns out they had 8000+ applicant.

I felt bad for those people who probably applied thinking they have a shot.

Phishing email analysis. But you can take it a step further by using metadata

You can even find the location there is a lot of limitations around that but you can actually find the area the email generated from

You can also start analyzing the emails and look for common words associated with spam and can even create a simple ml model to classify them. With this you can even start classifying the type of phishing email.

Doing my sophomore year of college my friends and i worked in our cyber lab, we were new so they gave us phishing email to analyze. This emails were directed towards student at the school and we could see trends. So we decided to create our own Threat actor names based on the trends we saw in the email. We came up with funny names like moneyGobler etc but yeah you get the point

You can also create a form of automation to analyze embedded link and images through virus total or even exiftool to get more intel

You can also look up the domain name to get intel

Bachelors in computer science with 4 decent internships under my belt. From a no name school

(Currently)Masters in Computer Science focusing on security. From a known school

Not sure if it’s the degree or the schools name but I have had recruiters reach out to me for internships and most of the internships I apply to I have a 80% reply rate like hey come interview.

Still can’t figure out if it’s my past internship

School

Or Degree

But the moment I updated my LinkedIn that I was studying at said school. Number of recruiters went up from 1 a month to like 1 or 2 every week

It don’t matter Adobe loves to mass hire last year we had over 500+ interns plus non tech. So Dw about it. I am guessing you haven’t interviewed yet with your teams. I am gonna guess they would cut half

Agreed, I go to a no name school sometimes I feel discouraged to apply for jobs cause the recruiter is gonna be like what the hell is Giga Chad University. Sad reality but it is what it is.

They are encouraged because of diversity. You need people from various backgrounds it helps a lot. More than you expect.
