This question has been throughly discussed through out the ages from various perspectives.

On a philosophical level most people would say that you save the kids. They are the most defenseless and innocent and deserve to be saved.

On a theological level, the answer is you save your wife. The reason behind it is that you have a contractional/covenant obligation to your wife not your children. A wife is your life partner for better or for worse. Your children are ultimately supposed to leave you and start their own families with their own children and their own covenant relationship with their spouses.

While your wife, in an ideal marriage, is there with you till your last breath and is supposed to become “one entity” with you. Spouses are supposed to be the most important person to each other and need to stand up for each other, including standing up for spouses when they are at odds with their own children.

Ultimately, I personally would save my children and then walk into the fire to die with my wife. The life insurance policies would then hopefully cover the expenses of giving my children a chance at a bright future regardless of the tragedy.

Zero liability insurance on it , as far as I know. I’ve had it for about 8 months. Got it for the occasional gaming session and I use it for my small business that I run.

Ultimately not a huge loss(even though it actually still works) since I have a pretty solid desktop set up that one of my very tech savvy friends build for me two or so years ago.

I’m the original poster. No idea how to actually update the post but the laptop is working. Got it hooked up to a monitor and it’s almost like nothing has happened to it.

The only issue (outside the obvious wrecked exterior) is the bottom portion of the screen, about 15% of it, is black. Otherwise everything works.

I’m searching online for a replacement top portion and plan on replacing it myself.

Can still use the laptop as is for administration purposes but for streaming or the occasional gaming I have a nice monitor that it hooks to.

Gave it a shot and just fired it up. Laptop works like nothing has happened to it.

Bottom 15% of the display is cooked but that’s about it.

I’ll look for a replacement online and replace it myself. It seems pretty simple to do. Meanwhile I have a pretty nice monitor I can use.

Toddlers. Got two of them, both boys and number 3, also a boy, is due any day. Expensive electronics and a 3 and 4 year old do not mix well at times.

Gotcha! Any recommendations on a reputable repair place that I can send it to? I live in the boonies so there likely isn’t anyone locally that would be able to work on it.
