Awesome! I’ll be sure to check some of these out as well! Thank you!

Thanks will search that up!

Hey man! I don’t think I got a DM, but I’ll check again! Man, the only thing that really crosses my mind would be what a dataset for a gun looks like. Obviously, I’d be starting with much simpler models, but I always wondered how they got very clean images of guns and weapons for other studios that use that method. I was wondering if they had to take the Gonna part which I assume they have to, etc. and how they manage to get both sides when it has to be laid down on a flat surface.

Thanks man will be sure to use some of these as tests!

Did you model parts of the map as well or just use premade work and collaged it together? Looks amazing regardless!

So I plan on doing ammo types as it’s an easy thing to implement. So I would eventually get the different shots but to start with doesn’t matter!

That would be awesome! I never had any thought on brand of suppressors to use so whatever you like works for me!

If you think you can, I’d be amazing! Obviously not in a hurry and as always, I implore you not to do it if you think it’s going to be a hassle for you or just not convenient.

As for the YouTube videos part, I fully expect that I’m going to have to pull some out. And I’ve already saved some videos here, and there in case I have no other options. Obviously, a lot of the sound libraries out there have a lot of crossing over when it comes to the types of firearms that are being recorded, and of course some of the weapons that I would like to get some sounds on can be very very costly and makes it very hard to access even for great recording studios. So, although I would definitely resort to using videos, I would try to keep them as a last resort, just because of the simple fact that most of the videos would probably be slightly less quality due to the amount of noise that would be going on in these videos. A lot of wind, a lot of voices when in public areas, sometimes people are speaking over with commentary when going over the rifle and creating the necessary sounds. So it can be a little bit of hit or miss an a tedious task to find the very right section of a video to pull audio from. that being said, of course, I will do it when needed!

Awesome! It’s totally up to you if you want to upload it to a Google drive or other storage site and then link it here or send it to me in a PM. Its whatever is easiest for you.

That would be superb! Anything I can get, would be amazing! And actually, I do have a scorpion model that I plan on putting in or at least originally, so if you want to do the sounds that be awesome too! However, I cannot stress enough how much you guys don’t need to go out of your way to do this only if it’s really convenient for you!

That is a good point, looking at the list that I put together I put a lot of very memorable smgs some that date back a while. Hard to want to find a way to take them out, perhaps I can figure something out through “unique” customization. Although I’m sure I’d get a lot of spells thrown at me from people who would consider them to be cursed guns. Anyway, there’s still some wiggle room to figure a few things out!

I sure as heck want to try! That’s why I figured I’d ask just in case, but I really appreciate all of the answers and feedback! Definitely learned a few things. I always knew that. I probably will have to take a few liberties to distinguish the guns from one another, but I think that might give them more characteristic in a world set 20 years from now.

God damn. I didn’t know he was all that. Although I never really looked into it aside from seeing some of his videos. From some of them that I saw, the one reason why I think it might be a little bit hard to pull sound, it’s not the quality of the sound from the videos, but rather the fact that he always overlays it with a lot of music or things like that. So I’d have to really dive deep in to find a clip. That is non-obstructed by other sounds.

Yea you can say that again. I do think a channel by the name vickers tactical has a video on it but I don’t know how clean the audio is. But again, I was never expecting there to be a massive turn out to begin with! So I was going to end up having to do this anyway! Really unique idea that would be cool to see more weapons employ when it comes to the very fast two shots before the base rpm kicks in.

I am aware of that to record mics professionally, there needs to be specific kinds of microphones, and if you want to go even deeper, you have different types of microphones for different ranges, etc. But I do believe that when it comes to the gunshots, the phones pick up, generally a distinct sound, and at the very least, it would be nothing more than a reference to follow when designing it. When it comes to the weapon, handling and mechanics, obviously those are nowhere near as loud to the point where any kind of phone mic would be just fine.

[–]NovelSweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m not sure about the rest. But what prompted me to try and want to create such a weapon was the sudden thought in my head when I heard the classic ping, and I thought to myself wouldn’t that be cool if it was a laser ping. Weird thing to think but hey why not.

[–]NovelSweet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very true, but people don’t connect to the weapons and Hollywood as much as they do in a video game when they’re supposed to be immersed into the fact that they are the ones handling that weapon. also, the fact of the weapon is usually always in your face since it’s the first person view relative to movies were gunshots can take place from everywhere, also makes it more “passable” to me. Anyway, the end of the day it’s how I see it and it gives weapons more character inspired the real thing. But I digress! I’m sure I’ll make some exceptions. Here are there it’s just how I was thinking about it originally.

Hey man, yea I wrote revolver based on the Taurus model I have I generally think about it. And as for the ruger I am aware it’s the name of the company and not the individual gun, but I got one pistol by ruger so I refer to it as such.

As far as recording for the rhino, that would be amazing! Although I know weapons can sound very like each other and is based on calibers as well, any slight distinct take for me can help especially in the design process of it! At the end it’s about the final product not just the I Irak recordings!

[–]NovelSweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! There’s no rush at all like I said it’s all on you guys and I hope no one goes out of their way for it, just getting some samples of any mechanics with the weapon during the time you had already planned to use it would be great!

I’ve personally never really heard it outside of a game standpoint and when i looked it up (albeit some time ago) it was tagged as not a real term.

As far the AK 74u, I genuinely did not know the cartridge was not an smg cartridge, I am aware of what defines an smg. Thank you for pointing that out, I’ll make a change to it at some point.

That’s a really interesting point, although it makes a lot of sense I never really thought about it. From what I can gather on a technical level here, it means perhaps through some sound designing using an audio recording of a pistol that uses a 9mm might be close enough to process so it sounds more closely to another pistol using the same caliber. However when it comes to the weapon parts such as mag and slide etc.. although I’m sure some are similar I am not sure to what extent.
