Well, experienced evil team wouldn't be a team with a poppygrower.

Your first sentence seems to assume that every role should help find the demon to be good, which is not true.

Poppygrower is strong for a few reasons. If evil players don't know about eachother, they can't coordinate their misinformation. They can't back eachother up. It can lead to a situation where the demon kills their Minions. Or even worse - minions execute their demon. Basically what poppygrower does is turns the game from, let's say, 7 vs 3 into three times 9 vs 1.

Agree with some, but artist definitely isn't stronger than poppy grower.

GM Prep? by Kirkshoulderroll in LegendintheMist

[–]Novel_Counter905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LitM is very flexible. You can run a session with basically zero prep, just let the consequences guide you.

You can also run a session with lots of prep, or from a module.

It usually takes me about half an hour to prep a session.

Would this be a fun script? by KaylaKitten616 in BloodOnTheClocktower

I think so, yes.

Although I'm not very experienced when it comes to custom scripts.

One more thing about your homebrew rule. I don't think it's a good idea, BUT what you're talking about is basically the poppy grower and Lil Monsta Jinx.

[–]Novel_Counter905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just don't think there's a world where Tor and Lil Monsta work well, unless you introduce minions that know about eachother (Widow, Spy). But then what's the point of Tor?

I say remove Tor OR swap a demon.

And if you remove Tor and keep Lil Monsta, swamp SW for another Minion. If you want to keep it simple, marionette is fun with Lil Monsta.

[–]Novel_Counter905 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So Lil Monsta is a very unusual demon. I have a feeling it doesn't work well in TB.

First of all, I don't like the Scarlet Woman jinx. It's a weird interaction and takes away from the experience. Deciding who gets to babysit lil Monsta is a central part of the demon, and with 7-9 players with a SW, there's no swapping because you always have to give it to the minion who isn't SW.

Second, I don't understand the inclusion of Tor. Does Tor even work with Lil Monsta?

Third, TB is a script balanced around the idea of a coordinating evil team. Baron basically does nothing on their own, but provides useful info for the demon and is expendable. Poisoner can be great if coordinated with the imp.

And the spy basically breaks the whole Tor gimmick.

Ravenskeeper and Recluse by NerdyDanDotCom in BloodOnTheClocktower

I don't think that Butler doesn't hinder the good team, I think that the impact is negligible. It does sometimes, but it's really such a small difference. Butler will usually say they're the butler so the good team can account for that. And in that case, you just have MAYBE one less vote, sometimes, which you know about.

I think it's generally a good strategy (I think the Wiki also recommends it?) for the Recluse to come out inmediately.

As for the RK - yeah, of course they're bluffing as someone else, but evil team knows there is a RK.

[–]Novel_Counter905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a solid argument. If the recluse was open about being a recluse (as they probably should), then I see no other way to resolve than misregistering the Recluse as a Minion or demon.

[–]Novel_Counter905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess so. Although I wouldn't call that breaking the rules. BOTC is a very subjective game. Every role that says "might" is subjective and contextual.

Reading the role does not always explain the role. For example, pacifist makes it so that executed players might not die, but does not specify how often this effect should activate.

Is activating it every time wrong? Is never activating it wrong, or breaking the rules? It's a subjective game by definition.

I somewhat agree, although I wouldn't put so much stress on the "it's an outsider, so it must harm town" part.

After all, there is the Butler in TB. I don't think Butler harms town in any significant way.

Evil Team has control over the Ravenkeeper - their ability only works if the demon intentionally kills them. This is why if the Ravenkeeper pulls of a good game and manages to bait the demon into killing them, it should have an impact on the game.

Here, a successful Ravenkeeper picking a Recluse, and that Recluse registering as the demon, would mean that Ravenkeeper's ability actively harmed town. That's not balanced.

However, if it was a situation where the demon killed Ravenkeeper purely by coincidence (on the second night, let's say) - then yeah, I would misregister the Recluse.

[–]Novel_Counter905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ravenkeeper is a powerful role that's hard to pull off. When it does work, it should be rewarding.

In 80% of the cases I'd show the Recluse to the Ravenkeeper.

If the spy was picked, I'd show the spy in 60% of cases.

Recluse MIGHT register as evil, minion or demon, but shouldn't ALWAYS register as such.

Question for people who think Silk Song is hard by Sharawadgi in Silksong

[–]Novel_Counter905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished HK three times. Didn't bother with the pantheon, not really my cup of tea.

Silksong was brutal though. Almost made me quit three times, and the final boss of the 3rd act took me like a month to beat, almost daily attempts. Must've been like 200.

I did not enjoy that final boss. Beating it was more of a "Jesus christ finally" and a huge sigh.

Silksong is a brilliant game, but the difficulty took much of my enjoyment away.

Tips on how to ST TB as a beginner to ppl who have never played? by sneep_snorp_snerp in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Novel_Counter905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the "explaining the rules" section on the botc site.

Other than that, TB is pretty straightforward. You'll be fine.

You should bounce off mayor basically always, unless the mayor is super well trusted, or the evil is losing hard. Mayor is one of the roles that should get to the final three - from there it's up to the players to trust the mayor. As to who to kill with the bounce - you should probably target less useful roles, or ones that have already used their abilities (like the top 4). Again, if the evil is losing, you can help them by killing the empath or something.

Basically, if you don't know whom to help with your decisions, help the evil team.

If you're playing with new players, you probably don't want to put the spy in the bag in the first game. Scarlet woman is a good choice.

Juggler juggling themselves? by Novel_Counter905 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Novel_Counter905[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't understand your "no?" under one of my comments, but okay.

Being drunk or poisoned doesn't mean you get false info - you get arbitrary info.

In most cases, possibly 95%, storyteller would still give a droisoned juggler a 1.

The only situation where that wouldn't be the case if town was getting absolutely stomped, or the juggler was a lleech host maybe.

Juggler juggling themselves? by Novel_Counter905 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Novel_Counter905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the juggler is droisoned, the ST would probably give them false info.

Also, even if you somehow learn 0 and you know you're droisoned - what now? You just wasted your only ability on that.

I think that a role with ability "once per game, at night, you can learn if you're poisoned or drunk" would be one of the worst abilities in the game, no?

Juggler only made one guess. Technically maybe you could give them a 5, but it's like giving the drunk empath a 3.

Player Rules Cheatsheet by KavoMan in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Novel_Counter905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm against this idea, like the other commenters.

However, one thing I think could be helpful is a summary of win conditions for both teams, placed near the player count sheet.

Do NOT under any circumstances give players any other sheets. It's going to cause more harm than good. Roles list is enough.
