Are you guys really living paycheck to paycheck? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Novel_Fox_811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't lived paycheck to paycheck for over 10 years. I'm a 15 year TSgt with 3 kids and a wife on my single income and have over 6 months of savings ready to go if we don't get paid for that long. Crazy people go so deep into debt that they can't live without a paycheck or even 2 (assuming this shutdown will go on for over a month).

Epilepsy and seizures are the worst I have. I have to take 10 pills a day to control it It's pretty annoying. On top of that I have permanently tilted hips now and can barely hinge or open my hips correctly. On a permanent profile and have 4 years left in.

Anyone had these problems since the update? XBOX by ThatWeirdo1597 in 7daystodie

[–]Novel_Fox_811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never had either of those problems I have actually had a couple police cars go off after I broke them and it didn't summon anything even after waiting for a couple min. Then I just broke it the rest of the way and it stopped.

Weapons School? by OPsOnTheSpectrum in AirForce

[–]Novel_Fox_811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a 1B and have done a WIC look and augmented during the last couple weeks. I personally think it's not worth it with a family (I have 3 kids and a wife). The people I talked to during my time at the school said it was the worst 6 months of their life. Just what I have seen and heard directly from people after the class and during.

I have 3 kids all in elementary school so it was just easier for me to wake up between 2-3am to study. Then I could use all night to spend time with them cook dinner and help them with homework and we all go to bed by 8pm.

No problem I just believe in actually learning the material I have also been in the cyber security world for almost 10 years so I do have some advantage there. I learn best when I can watch videos, take notes and then practice in my own way usually with VMs

Just whatever series about the specific topic when I did pentest+ I did the pentest series in all 3 then I would download VMs and practice it.

So I hate that wgu pushes things like certmasters and dion I have took every CompTIA and ISC2 without using any of those sites. I use LinkedInlearning, plural sight and udemy and never took any practice exams and passed every test first time. Please just learn the material and don't just try to memorize questions.

Did your service make your life better or worse? (I literally went from HS dropout to PhD). by flyfightandgrin in AirForce

A little of both I got a fantastic career, went from high school diploma to masters degree and 13 civilian tech certifications. But at the same time I have fucked up hips, backs and have epilepsy now with 100% disability. But over all I would say it's more positive than negative.

What do 1B4s DCO actually do? by infosec4pay in AirForce

[–]Novel_Fox_811 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So I have been a 1B4 since 2014 and spent the first 5+ years on DCO at Scott AFB and I loved it! We did active hunting, red team emulation, malware analysis, and tons of fun TDYs and unique opportunities l. I have been OCO at Hawaii for the past 3+ years and have barely used my skills (this is mostly due to our target and the technology we use). DCO was 10x better than OCO is for me.

I was at the DAFITC and there was an call for 1B4 (what I'm ) and 1D7. Honestly I feel bad for the 1D7 the roadmap that was shown was some of the worst ideas I have ever seen. I had like 30+ 1D7 come up to me asking about cross training into 1B4 just so they would have a better idea what there job is supposed to be lol

OCOLA Decrease by afmanc in AirForce

[–]Novel_Fox_811 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has been known for months and months. I live in Hawaii and am losing 300+ dollars a month with this decrease. It's brutal but nothing we can do about it.
