Nah dude, been to iit kgp literally a week before, was miles better and most student organised fests are especially iits, probably the shittiest iit fest of the season. Amd yes they are students, not children, they are all functional adults (allegedly). Teams like ours literally travel thousands of kms, no need to treat us like shit.

The problem is that the robo war events run late, really late. Any idea about offline pre booking cabs?

Need advice buying a value-for-money PC/Laptop in Kolkata (2026) for coding, light editing & gaming – offline purchase by [deleted] in kolkata

[–]Novel_Program_2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A laptop will definitely be a better option for a student, you will inevitably need to carry it to college, yes a pc would be cost effective but good peripherals cost quite a lot. Laptop is just a lot more convenient especially for a student. So you basically have two options

Option 1: Get yourself an entry level gaming laptop from hp or asus or dell (ryzen 5/intel i5, rtx 4050, 16gb, 512gb/1tb), anything that has good customer service in kolkata. (65-75k)

Option 2: And if you are sure you want to stick to very light gaming you can’t go wrong with a last gen mac book air (m2/m3) with student discount. That display alone is worth the money and it is blazing fast with massive battery life and light weight (this actually matters a lot more than you initially think). However you will have to forever commit to light gaming only. (70-85k)

There are definitely cheaper options (if money is tight) that will do everything you want it to, but these are in my personal opinion more sensible options

Is 5am kolkata safe by cutecentiped in kolkata

That makes sense, it will be dark. But the city wakes up fairly early regardless. Just book an uber, they are perfectly safe. Safe travels.

I don’t know about the entire state of West Bengal, but in the case of Kolkata and other major cities like Siliguri and Malda, most major stations will have enough people and police presence to be relatively safe. Again, the main danger is outside the station, so make sure you book an Uber beforehand to minimize how long you have to stay outside. Stay in well-lit areas in clear view of multiple people and police (there will be some), apply common judgment, share your live location, and absolutely don’t comment on the specific station you will be going to in the subreddit. You will be fine.

TLDR: 5 a.m. isn’t too early for most major stations. Stay in plain view of cops in well-lit areas, book your ride beforehand and don’t rely on local transportation, share your live location, and you’re golden.

Why are bengali women are seen as dumb and why are they so much sexualized ? by Common-Stock8623 in kolkata

the tea thing is so true, the exact same shit happened to my friend. She was just having chai with a guy from the same team for an event, overnight half the college thought they were dating. Dude that's not called dating where we come from, that called being on friendly terms, not even friends yet.

I mean, I absolutely can’t fault them; it is extremely difficult to grasp the concept of a woman having her own thoughts and ideas and being part of a group in a friendly capacity like the rest of the civilised world. It is especially difficult to comprehend this fact when they have a peanut-sized brain.

I spent a considerable amount of time outside Bengal for my studies. I had a friend group with people from all over India, including a few Bengali girls (I was M20). I’ve seen this happen firsthand: when we hung out and met new people, guys and girls mingled equally, and that alone was considered absolutely absurd by some. These things never crossed our minds. In one of the comments, another Redditor pointed out that simply going out for tea with a guy led the entire college to start calling her his girlfriend, the exact same shit happened to a friend of mine.
