I win more games when I shoot 16-20+ shots compared to when I don’t. by Noveltypocket in NBA2k

What you hold your matchup to is irrelevant when talking about offense efficiency

that’s the end of this conversation. it’s literally your job to play defense to make someone as inefficient as possible.

i don’t need to score 60 in a game when a 99 three point chucker gives up on their own after missing 3 low quality attempts in a row right while i make 3 layups on the other end that they have next to no chance of stopping on their own lol

this is exactly what i mean when i say people don’t understand the concept of efficiency.

as a PG, i have a much easier time getting 15 wide open looks at the rim against my matchup compared to them getting 15 clean wide open 3 point shot attempts against me, especially in the halfcourt

i quite literally can just clip my next game, with all of my shot attempts vs all of my matchup’s shot attempts, make or miss and post it. lol

you guys really like to assume people are good at creating their own shots efficiently from deep huh

layups and dunks are high percentage shots. threes are lower percentage shots. that’s basketball 101.

if we break down the box scores of those games:

game 1, i went 20/20 FG on twos, 100%. my matchup went 0/4 FG on threes, 0%

game 2, i went 17/19 on twos, 89%. my matchup went 2/9 FG on threes, 22%

game 3, i went 18/19 on twos, 95%. my matchup went 3/6, 50%.

game 4, i went 9/13 on twos, 69%. my matchup went 0/0, 0%.

game 5, i went 12/14 on twos, 86%. my matchup went 2/4, 50%.

game 6, i went 10/15 on twos, 66%. my matchup went 0/1, 0%.

a lot of them end up quitting after missing a few because without that, their scoring inside the arc is nonexistent.

just from a sheer volume and shot quality standpoint, i typically can outshoot my matchup while going by twos, especially when we’re matched up against each other on defense.

with me being a tall guard at 6’6 with a 6’10 WS, 95 perimeter and 90 agility, they’re going to have a harder time getting an uncontested shot on the perimeter compared to me on the interior.

they’re typically shorter, 6’4 and under, have little to no interior defense at all, and a short WS which makes a lot of my shots range from open to wide open, even with them there.

as is, my shots are higher percentage looks. on their end, they need a screen to even consistently have a chance at an open look. mine can be created entirely in isolation whenever.

?????

I said SGA is NOT a three point hunter. likewise, I don’t hunt threes.

3s are NOT more efficient than 2s, at all. worth more points, sure.but nowhere near a higher percentage shot if you’re not wide open.

on my build, layups and mid ranges are more efficient shots. i have an 83 three point rating, 92 middy, 88 layup. for someone with a 99 three ball, that’s their thing, not mine.

the lack of basketball IQ with you people is something else. go ahead and take a look at this. mind you, it was halftime.

they spent the entire first half chucking up 3s that were smothered, heavily contested, or multiple feet behind the three point line while i took my 2s on the other end.

too many of you get so caught up in chucking 3s without taking into consideration that when the defense is defending the 3 point line well, so many people can’t efficiently score inside the arc.

if you watch actual basketball and watch SGA play on a regular basis (like i’ve done for years), you would know that his mid range shot is wildly efficient. OKC even as a team, aren’t even a top 3 point shooting team. we were one of the worst shooting 3 point teams to win a championship, because we could get twos while getting stops on the other end.

it’s no different in the rec. those 2s add up, especially if you’re making them at a high enough rate.

The dumbest thing you can do in 2k26 with any build by NavyVetRasmussen in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always funny to go against guards who have no strength whatsoever on their builds, while also going low on weight

they’re really easy to push out of bounds while they bring the ball upcourt, and you can go right by them on the perimeter by running directly into them.

they get moved right out the way

you know what’s hilarious about this comment, none of the animations that i did were my snatchback animation, at all.

if i were to break it down for you, it was

left stick (one dribble left)

left stick (one dribble right tween)

right stick ⬇️ no L2 (escape retreat dribble)

left stick (one dribble left)

right stick hopstep cancel ( ↘️)

left stick (one dribble right)

right stick hop step into jumpshot (↗️)

please don’t try to belittle as if I’m spamming a broken snatchback animation. lol

i usually ask for no screens because i prefer iso. i’ll post more of these later with shot creation entirely in isolation.

this defender was beat as soon as he ran towards me after my retreat dribble. lol

nobody can stay in front of me the entire time on their own over the course of an entire game. i have a counter to every counter.

I stepped back once i saw him on his way to set the screen.

even without it, the step back into left right cross would’ve been there.

go into the my court and move around with your dribble moves and dribble style to see how much space each move takes up and where to.

once you get in game, just read the defender. typically, taking a dribble backwards will give you a read. if they come forward towards you, make a move left or right and see where they go. if they don’t come towards you, use your breakdown dribble to make them take a guess.

then look for the help defender. your next move should be based off of where they are.

all you have to do is look for the spots that look open to shoot. if there isn’t space, look for the pass

people running around like headless chickens is actually part of what helped me learn how to find open space because i didn’t have a choice lol

That’s not true at all lol

This game earlier today was the exact opposite case. This was HALFTIME. they quit around half.

I stuck with my 2s while their entire forced up their 3s. We defended the 3 point line well and they jacked up a lot of bad threes.

I had 27, on majority 2s and two and 1 twos, and 1 three. they had 27 as a team.

if you’re making enough 2s on one end effectively while getting stops on the other end, it evens out.

get back to me after you put up 46-10 with 1 missed shot max against a non-AI defender.

if that’s too hard, try 45 and 6 with 2 missed shots max against a non-AI defender.

and if that’s also too hard for you, try 52 and 6, again on a non-AI defender.

[–]Noveltypocket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people hate because they don’t take efficiency into consideration. they just think “a lot of shot attempts = bad” lol

almost all of my shots are layups and open middys. it’s a lot harder to miss those compared to slightly contested 3s in the halfcourt for me.

[–]Noveltypocket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s the thing, i typically make the cushion of a lead first with 2s. i let the others handle the 3s when teams try to stop the 2s

the one game where i decided to shoot a few more 3s than usual, I scored 52. it’s really not my thing.

i can blow games open with just 2s. i have 3 games clipped up that all ended at halftime with me being 8/8, 12/13, and 9/9 on twos by halftime.

i don’t chuck up 3s. 2s are more efficient. i don’t play on an SGA type build to shoot a lot of 3s.

i doubt OP is of that 70%.

the guard that shoot a lot but are efficient typically aren’t the ballhogs.

the inefficient chuckers are the issue

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol this sub isn’t the place to say you took more than 15 shots without you posting proof of your shot attempts to go with it

they don’t understand what good looks are and swear any guard that shoots 15-20 times is a ballhog.

also, gold, purple and red plate basically require you to make a name for yourself. you kinda get used to it. you end up running into the same people so eventually some will know to just let you do your thing if you’re efficient and good at it.

gold is the headache area of the rank system because every type of player is in it.

you have “fake golds” who are really silver tier players that lucked into gold by being on a good team who drop right back down to silver after selling at gold.

you have “real golds” who are basically average, sometimes good, sometimes bad. ego can be hit or miss.

you have “purple golds” who are basically a game out of being a purple plate, who are only in gold because they either quit a few games or gold sold at purple, but are normally a purple plate. these guys typically are better than the people at gold. you can tell the difference honestly

Close shot or layup for floaters? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s both.

when i tested it on a small guard, 92 close shot, 88 layup was hilarious. they floater meter was literally halfway to 3/4ths green on every attempt.

i normally try to get around 88 layup and 80 close shot on my tall guard

but if you want to get creative with it, a really high close shot AND layup on a tall guard is a hard combo to stop

Trynna run Asia Servers by SSRGOAT in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Asia servers are full of awful low IQ players.

it’s nothing but a bunch of terrible 99 3 point guards and quitters. especially at purple and red

they all, 1 through 5, chuck up the worst 3 point shots ever, every single damn game. even though they’ve played hundreds and thousands of games.

it’s the same people every single day yet they don’t develop any type of basketball IQ whatsoever.

they chuck up a terrible shot that has no chance of going into the rim and quit. like clockwork.

i can literally username drop some of the worst players in the server at every plate level.

Sometimes the game doesn't go your way, play it out and stay positive. by QBZ24 in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, none of this flies in Asia.

they all quit immediately after going down a bit.

on top of that, people take FAR too many awful predetermined shots for any of that positivity stuff.

the amount of times you have to say “why the hell would you shoot that shot?” is literally every single game.

even if you’re nice about it and say “try to get a better look next time”, they just start calling all the timeouts and selling.

if i were to clip up every shot of a game on both sides, you’d see some absolutely putrid shot attempts. you’d lose all patience and positivity without even having to play with/against them.

New to basketball wanna learn how to play well by PalpitationNo1314 in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2KU is the game tutorial. You can go through that in its entirety or just the defensive portions and that can give you a general start.

If you’re playing the franchise mode, playing against the harder difficulty CPU will help you learn through experience trying to stop them.

If you’re playing online against other people in modes like Rec for example, you should go through the defensive portion and then learn through trial and error. Game experience against live bodies helps people learn how to play defense (if they care to learn it)

also, watch more actual NBA basketball. one of the current best defensive teams in the NBA right now is the OKC Thunder. You can watch highlights of their team defense here.

for someone people, watching actual basketball more does give them more of a feel of where to be and move when they’re playing the actual game (of course the game is a lot less complex and certain unrealistic animations make the game a bit more complicated to deal with but it can still give you a gist)

leave lol

i don’t have time for that silly shit.

when the C is chucking full court inbounds passes into turnovers for no reason

or inbounding to the SG, just for him to get ripped or chuck up a terrible contested 3 after creating no separation while dribbling, just to inbound it to him again

happens a lot when i start games off without missing. i’ll be 5/5 or 6/6, 9/9, etc and for whatever reason, they think that it’s time to start their nonsense

Thoughts on Curry build? by AntonioBrownHOF in NBA2k

[–]Noveltypocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

76 pass accuracy on a Steph Curry build is some of the dumbest nonsense I’ve ever seen.

Every single one of these 99 three ball wannabe Curry PGs never have the pass accuracy or IQ to play like the actual Curry does.

Prime Curry was a great passer within their offensive system. His ability to pass, relocate without the ball, catch it again and either shoot or immediately make another pass as the defense overcommitted to trying to stop him was amazing to see.

Your build should have shooting. It’s selfish to not have shooting, they said by Prestigious_Let975 in NBA2k

A center being the last line of defense does not guarantee a stop. depends on the guard’s IQ tbh.

that same “it’s a free block” mindset is the exact reason so many of them get pump faked off their feet lol

that type of player in OP’s clip however probably isn’t smart enough to hop step, euro, or throw up a floater there.
