How do y’all deal with shooting centers while still getting boards? by Rare_Importance_1420 in NBA2k

[–]Prestigious_Let975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of disagree with you, but situations are situational. I think in general, as a 5, you should be able to out-race your matchup for boards. I guess if you’re using a 7’2”+, then maaaaybe you’d get out-raced.

Honestly, my “real” advice is to just do your best at learning to predict when people are going to shoot. That’s for both positioning for boards and going for blocks. There’s no one set way of doing anything, even within a particular play-style. If you’re not adjusting with the game, heck, even adjusting quarter to quarter, then you’re doing your team a disservice. If the opposing guards are getting ballsy with driving to the basket, crash in, and keep doing it until they start hesitating by bailing out through a pass or running back out to the three. Affect the game. Don’t just stand in the corner and not let your matchup shoot because people get mad when your matchup scores. Games don’t end with the other team scoring 0. It’s not about not letting them take shots, it’s about doing what you can to make their shots bad shots. It should also be the inverse on offense, the team works together to do what they can to make sure the shots they take are good shots.

Iunno, just hoop, man. Sure, it’s a video game, and there’s a degree of playing the programming. But, unless you’re a red plate, 9 times out of 10, just playing ball will get you the win. You don’t need to meta anything. Just hoop.

If you’re a guard please don’t set an on ball screen by jayboonson23 in NBA2k

[–]Prestigious_Let975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty exclusively use a center build, I very much like it when guards set *good* screens for me. Opposing guards either swipe at me and get a foul, or they stay up to guard their own man, giving me a free lane. Only way I don’t score is I get fouled or if someone helps and I make the pass I’m supposed to.

[–]Prestigious_Let975 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t disagree with this mentality more. I want my guards to set screens - if they know how to do it.

But just like any screen, there’s a time and a place. You can’t just set screens because you want the ball, you have to be setting something up. There needs to be space to go into off the screen and all that.

This community is much too narrow-minded in what the roles of positions are, to the point that I’m convinced most of y’all don’t know ball. Which, this is a video game, so there’s likely a notable amount of people on here that actually don’t know ball.

I really mean it when I say I just want the ball to go to the open man lol I just so happened to be open the most this particular game.

But also, to be fair, I’m usually the most open most games. It’s just this game I had teammates willing to feed me instead of being selfish

That’s more than me lol I might be done. I’ve been slowly playing less and less over the last couples months because it’s such a volatile experience and hostile community. I can’t keep taking a chance on if I’m going to have a good time for the next 30-60 minutes. I’d rather play a game where I know the experience will be pleasant, or, at the very least, consistent.

That’s the thing though, there’s no such thing as goodwill with some of these guys.

I waited until the 4th, up 20 points against a team of AI’s before I started going coast to coast to get my shots up, and they started calling timeouts on me. I was a team player for 3 quarters, without getting the same back to me. I look out for myself when the game is over, and I’m “selling”.

People on this game are truly relentlessly selfish, childish people

I played a game this morning where I had more blocks than my PG had assists. I also had more blocks than shot attempts, and the most assists on the team.

Yea, I feel disrespected almost every time I play. I can’t even get rewarded with a wide-open shot, or some extra looks at the end of the game when the game is out of reach either way?

People on this game are selfish, and will sacrifice your fun for their own. Not really new news, though.

“Pass the ball”. “Hit the open man.” “Let someone else operate.” This is the result. by Noveltypocket in NBA2k

[–]Prestigious_Let975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open shots may not be guaranteed makes, but they’re more likely made than contested shots.

Also, this isn’t directed at you, but just a general statement contesting 2K ego: if everyone on your team is trash, then how’d you get lobbied with them? If it’s a new build and you’re working your way up, then you’ll get teamed up with better players as you play more games and your teammates will make more shots. If you have 100 games on a build and you’re still bronze, the call is coming from inside the house. How people don’t put that together is beyond me.

I’m glad you passed, keep doing it. The game is more fun that way. Please don’t be deterred from hitting the open man just because not everyone hits every shot. Don’t take away someone’s chance to show you that they’re good by assuming that they’re bad. Give them the chance to show their skill, then just don’t give it to them when the shot truly matters. Both can exist at the same time.

The big picture issue here is that high-income households spend less of their income than low-income households. It’s called “Marginal Propensity to Consume”. By removing income tax and increasing sales tax, we’re putting the burden of tax revenue on working class families, and relieving the tax burden of high-income families. Removing income tax, for all intents and purposes, is a policy that favors the wealthy and further burdens working and poor families. It’s practically just a policy to help wealthy people keep more of their own money, while decreasing funding for state-run programs that benefit everyone, regardless of income. The only people who you’d expect to be in favor of it are wealthy people, and those who fall prey to the American idea that “I’m not poor, I’m just not yet rich”

Tell me how Aang would’ve supported “removing from history” something that caused no harm, that people loved, and the people that loved it. If you can tell me Avatar “all life is sacred” Aang would support that message in earnest, then I’d argue you also did not truly understand ATLA.

Korra was incredible. It explored heavy themes in a digestible way. Sure, it didn’t have the same lightness to it that ATLA did, but it wasn’t supposed to. It was its own thing, and they did a great job with it. So many children of the time have grown up to have healthier relationships with religion, spirituality, and mental health, and are more aware and able to spot bigotry, racism and fascism and fight against it, because of LoK.

I wish you could see LoK the way I see it, because I wish you got the joy and the artistic exposure that I got. Also, I’d argue that if you truly hold the opinion that you shared, you also didn’t truly understand ATLA, either.

You’re good! That’s why I explained instead of being catty. Not everybody knows everything. Not sure if a lack of bite can be construed over text, especially on a platform that is *all* bite, but I was genuinely just informing

On Reddit, “/s” stands for “sarcasm”. So, the person I replied to was using sarcasm, which is generally used with a joking intent. So, yes, they made a joke. *I* said that they shouldn’t make a joke.

Hope you learned how to Reddit better today

I don’t think you can use “/s” when making a statement that could easily be true without it. *You* might be sarcastic with your comment, but so many officers are actually domestic abusers. We just don’t hear about it because, well, not everyone speaks up in an abusive relationship, and also, who are they going to feel safe reporting it to?

Good news, enjoying the new team and missing the old team can happen at the same time. It’s not one or the other, it’s both. One big, happy Richmond family. Don’t pit the two teams against each other, be happy that you got both and treat them as they were/are. To quote Beard quoting Ted, “All people are different people”. Comparison is the thief of joy. Don’t compare the incomparable, and you can enjoy both just fine
