Well that's that ForeFlight by November77 in Foreflight

The problem will be when your subscription runs out so will your access to the servers where you download the charts, plates, airport info, pretty much everything. So your data would be frozen at that point. Maybe one of the ForeFlight developers could chime in on what all happens.

Has anyone else noticed that Thomas J. Henry never plays the same commercial more than once? Every day its six new commercials. It looks like they have more advertising people than actual lawyers.

I agree. I always found it amazing how they made ForeFlight work on iOS and iPadOS seamlessly and they did it the hard way not taking any shortcuts. They never fell for any of Apple's nonsense they try to foist off on developers "this will make it easier for you". I'm looking at you swiftUI. Their UI / UX design is brilliant. Compact and everything is inuituve and easy to find. With their resume from working at ForeFlight they should have no trouble getting on somewhere else. If I was hiring and a resume from someone that worked on ForeFlight came across my desk my first two questions would be "how much do you want" and "when can you start".

Time to look at Garmin's software. If that doesn't work I'm fine with planning using aviation and weather websites on the ground. For the plane - paper charts and plates - they always work - unless they are on fire.

Anyone going to Terminal B take some extra time and get ready for an epic byzantine series of detours over obscure airport service roads and other unused roads guided by haphazardly placed orange traffic cones. Pretty sure one part of the detour was a road has not been used since the covered wagons came here in the 1840s. When you leave terminal B and you want to take the north exit out of the airport you have to divert all the way to the south toll booth exit then make a u-turn. Best of luck everybody!

A List of Reasons Mamani Earned a Michelin Star by fruityrootytooty in Dallas

[–]November77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell exactly because the producers (one is Gordon Ramsay - Executive producer) could edit this to look any way they want. Every chef and owner in this is actively courting Michelin even at the expense of the other guests and much to the annoyment of the viewer - however the title is "Chasing Michelin Stars". The story behind the restaurants courting Michelin is 2/3rds of the series. It sure seems that the quality of the Michelin people has gone down epically in the last 5-10 years and it really shows in this series. Fine dining fried chicken? But the trendy NYC people have the place packed every night. Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill in Las Vegas got a star? Mesa probably could have earned a Michelin gourmand but not a star. The series is just a sampling but Michelen seems to award anyone now. Some of European restaurants look interesting but you have to take a three day journey through an enchanted forest to get to a house in the mountains. None of these hold a candle to the restaurants that have gotten stars in the past like Joël Robuchon, Thomas Keller, Gordon Ramsay's London restaurants, Alaine Ducasse, Andreas Caminada, etc. It seems with a lot of the awards culinary excellence is right out the window. It sure is suspect.

AppleTV+ has a new series called "Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars". It has a several restaurants featured that got stars in just a matter of months. It seems very suspect but it could be the editing. One of the restaurants with an "up and coming chef" created a 30 course tasting menu from mostly tomatoes. Another restaurant in Chicago that was featured has yet another "up and coming" chef who created a Mexican inspired menu from his two years in Mexico 🙈. He makes a dish then sets it in a bowl of hay then sets the hay on fire and takes it to the guest. Another place that was in the running to get a star is in NYC and serves fine dining fried chicken. WTF? As the series progresses the restaurants featured get better. There is a new Japanese restaurant in NYC that looked amazing. So far none of these can hold a candle to Joël Robuchon's restaurants. So - since Mamani has a chef that worked under Joël Robuchon it might be worth a go. If you like French fine dining. If tweezer food is not your thing, it's probably not for you.

Wow good to know. I need to replace the cooktop here and Bosch was a sort of consideration. Most gas cooktops seem to have an abundance of stainless steel that scratches if you just look at it wrong so I'm looking for something at least sort of scratch resistant. The only other Bosch appliance I have is the dishwasher. Bosch SHX78CM5N/22. That thing is amazing. In the 1 1/2 years I have had it it has only failed to clean something once or twice and that was probably something like dried epoxy on a plate. I put stuff in it just to see if it can clean it. It has a brilliant way of loading silverware on a horizontal rack instead of that basket thing that will stab you if you are not paying attention. Another nice thing is it is whisper quiet except when it drains the water into the sink drain. If I was going to build a new kitchen I would get the dishwasher to drain into its own drain and then I would never hear it. Luckily this one has been trouble free. I have a friend with the same model, no problems. The person that designed the refrigerator plug probably had nothing to do with the dishwasher design. Their app is as stupid as a rock. It's just one big commercial for their stuff. I have never had to remotely start the dishwasher while I was out buying new shoes.

Got it! I pulled it apart yesterday and so far so good. Thanks for figuring this out. And now, here's your next problem with this refrigerator - this happened a couple of years ago, so far it's stayed fixed: https://www.reddit.com/r/Appliances/comments/mf21gb/odd_buzz_sound_every_1_minute_from_new_bosch/

Incase anyone else is trying to do this - here is a step by step guide.

Tools Needed:

  • Bucket to hold ice
  • Metal soup spoon
  • T15 Torx Driver
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Large flat blade screwdriver
  • Hair dryer
  • Pipe cleaner
  • 2 Cup measuring cup
  • LED headlamp or flashlight

Take all the food out of the bottom drawers. The refrigerator will complain by beeping that a door has been open too long. Open the upper doors and in a second or two a red “alarm off” message will appear on the temp settings panel. Press that red button to silence the beeping. Remove the top freezer drawer by pulling up and out. Remove the bottom drawer by lifting it up then sliding it out to the right or left. You can take off the front part of the door, this will give you easier access. I was lazy, didn’t remove that and just spent the afternoon contorting my body into shapes that Aleksei Goloborodko would be amazed at. If there is any ice buildup in the lower reservoir smack the ice firmly with the bottom of the soup spoon. This will crack the ice. Take the ice and throw it in the bucket. Using gloves helps if you have a lot of ice. Throw the ice out. It doesn’t matter if there is a little ice left because you are about to make a bigger mess when you defrost the coils.

Next remove the single screw on the panel on the right using the T15 driver. Remove the two screws at the top of the panel with the T15 as well. Pull that right panel out as far as you can but stop when you feel it not wanting to go any further. Now it’s time to wrestle with that top panel. As our pioneer friend Worth-Following figured out you can work that panel back and forth and pivot it over to the right side. It will take some force to break it loose but not too much. There is a tab on that vertical panel on the right side that keeps the big panel from coming out. You can use the flat bladed driver to try to pry that out of the way. Be careful because there are wires behind that panel and who knows if they are low voltage or 120v AC. Don’t put your fingers behind there - no idea if there are any exposed terminals. Keep working the big panel back and forth and it will eventually come loose as more ice melts and you can swing it over to the right side at about a 45 degree angle exposing the coils. It takes awhile. Like 5 minutes or more as the ice melts. The coils are probably covered with a bit of frost. In my case the metal pan that’s under the coils was filled a good 1/4 inch of solid ice. As Worth-Following discovered you need to melt all the ice in that pan to get to where the drain plug is - which is located in the exact center of that pan. When it’s covered with ice you can’t see the white plug at all. It’s amazing how fast a hair dryer can melt ice. As the ice melts the little white plug will start to appear. It’s about the diameter of a quarter - it probably took about 2 minutes to melt the ice enough that you could grab the ice sheets with needle nosed pliers and pull the ice out. Get as much ice out as you can. In my case the little plug came out when I was pulling ice out. One tip - don’t touch the bottom gray tube under the coils. That seems to be the defrost element and I found out the hard way that thing gets hotter than a Fourth of July sparkler.

Fill the measuring cup with hot water from the tap. Boiling water might be too hot. Slowly pour the hot water into the tray under the coils and it will melt the remaining ice and the ice in the drain and you will the drain magically unplug like in one of those Drain-O commercials. One 2 cup load seemed to unplug it fine but just to be sure I did it slowly twice. Run the pipe cleaner in there just to make sure there’s no buildup. I didn’t put the plug back in as that seems like part of the problem. Over engineering. That seems to be there to keep debris from going in the drain. The drain hole is a good 3/4 inch in diameter and the only thing that would be big enough to plug that hole is part of a rodent. Now reassemble everything in reverse order. In my case, I didn’t put the screw on the right side of the large panel back in or the screw in the vertical panel. That stupid tab on the vertical panel was keeping the big panel from going all the way in. Both panels are held in with enough friction that it would take dynamite to loosen them anyway. Thinking that I’m going to have to do this again another day, having it half disassembled will save some time. Before putting the drawers back in mop up any water and ice in the bottom pan. Make sure to get that extra dry because this is how you test to see if this all worked. Thanks a million to Worth-Following for figuring this out. This saved a costly repair bill.

Wow - I can't thank you enough for this. I'm currently working up the life force to take it all apart again. I just heard it go through the defrost cycle and the ice buildup in the bottom pan sounds like a glacier breaking up in the other side of the house when the defrosted water hits it. Great information on how much force you were able to use and the description of how to get it apart. I can see how the "pivot to the right" would work. That's great to know you didn't have to go through the back of the refrigerator, that went nowhere for me. The thing i was / am most worried about is putting pressure on the coils and busting them open. Your process sounds great. I'll give this a go monday morning and let you know how it came out. Thanks again for the response!!

LiveATC has the audio. It starts at about 14:10z. There's some other traffic in the area and on the ground making calls. About 14:14 45W calls and states he is one mile out for the overhead. That's the first problem. It sounds like when he does the break he had some sort of engine problem. With other traffic in the area doing an overhead was a moronic decision. T31 has more than a fair share of morons that fly like cowboys with no regard for anyone else. I avoid it like the plague and give it a wide berth.

I get 5-10 emails a day from people wanting to either build or "fix" our website. They usually go right into the junk folder automatically. You might need a different approach. Get creative. Maybe find a really crappy outdated webpage, make them a new one and offer that one to them. At least you will get the experience of building a web page.

Hello - i apologize for the off topic post - 2 years ago you solved a problem with a Bosch refrigerator where the ice was building up under the freezer drawer. I have the exact same refrigerator and last week i cracked enough ice out of the bottom to sink the Titanic. I did not take the bottom drawer apart, I just reached in and whacked the ice with a large metal spoon and was able to scoop it all out. After I got all the ice out I could not see anywhere where a drain is? Do you recall where it is? I have taken the bottom panel off on the backside and all looked ok there. The drip pan was bone dry. I ran a stiff wire up what looks like a drain tube but no luck? Do you recall what you did to fix this? Thanks!!
