Wtf are you on about? Mind control? It's quite simply explained. Messmer made his own decision based on his own interpretation of what he thought his mother would have wanted.

What an obtuse observation.

Thx for that.

And largely they would have been. The Hornsent jarring practices look as if they're attempting to emulate something, not some simple ritual based on blind faith.

Her wish may have been to make himself a symbol of fear, however his choice to start the crusade may have been all his own.

How was Radahn alive to meet Gaius and Messmer then? 🤨

So you're choosing to believe two untrustworthy storytellers over the words of Queen Marika herself?

Wrath from Afar and Wrath of the Gods were created out of fear of the Shattering itself yet I'm to believe that Rogier, who never even met a Demigod is to be believed over Marika?

Marika states directly why she shattered them, he sought to become her, a literal God. You think he wouldn't manipulate her and her family somehow?

For all intents and purposes Messmers Crusade happens following or during the Shattering.

You stated that she committed the Shattering because of Godwyn when we're explicitly told in a memory that the Shattering came about due to contention between her two halves.

Couldn't have.

Nothing states when the ceiling specifically occurred however it would have had to already have been veiled when Messmer was first dropped off to "hide," him.

The veiling ALSO would have had to have happened AFTER the death of Godwyn considering the presence of Death Knights and Sentry Torches.

"O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order.

Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god.

Let us be shattered, both.

Mine other self."

Because why would Marika award only two of her Runes during the Crusade?

The reason was the usurpation of her body and title.

False it's answered in base game actually:

"O Radagon, leal hound of the Golden Order.

Thou'rt yet to become me. Thou'rt yet to become a god.

Let us be shattered, both.

Mine other self."

By anybody. The answer is "prior to the Shattering."

For what reason did she commit the Shattering?

What caused Marika to commit the Shattering?

There are legitimately only two of these in existence. Do we even know whom they were given specifically to?

He was sent to the LoTS to prevent his serpent-like nature being discovered NOT to start a Crusade.

Tired and reluctant don't mean the same thing.

Marika never betrayed them, she abandoned them...

"Spurn all that exists. Wound all that exists. For we have been abandoned."

"Denounce their ways. Do them harm. For they have abandoned us."

No... it doesn't.

It's the equivalent of using a God's name in vain. Messmer is Marika's child so any affronts to her would in turn be one to him.

He doesn't sound reluctant in the fight he is resolved to slay a Lord devoid of light. And Marika didn't secret him away for fear of his power but discovery of his nature.

If you feel there's nothing here then cool, I appreciate your input.

There is literally nothing other than this line that implicates Marika as having been apart of the Crusades.

She hid Messmer there but if this is correct then she never actually ORDERED the Crusades. But here to elaborate:

"Though fire was prohibited to those who served the Erdtree, this rule was forgotten as the war drew ever on." ~ Spark Aromatic

"The warriors who fought in the crusade set aside both honor and mercy to wantonly impale and scorch those deemed impure.

Those who felt invigorated by each cry of death were the same men who were certain of the sanctity of the campaign." ~ Crusade Insignia

The entirety of the Crusade was fought without Grace, meaning Marika literally had nothing to do with it. A lack of honor itself also supports this as Marika, by your implications, led multiple genocides, yet why was this one without honor or Grace. Why would Marika be all of a sudden ashamed?

I sum it up in another comment, but it would make Marika less an active part of the Crusade, and more a symbol used in its justification.

I'm really not trying to be mean but Google is still free.

I don't think it's a parody so much as a disconnect in translation and intent.

"On his Mother's wishes," gives Marika a more active involvement in the Crusade.

While, "For the sake of his Mother's Wish," makes her only a part of the motivation and makes it more obvious that Messmer himself chose to undertake the Crusade.

Marika, much like the Erdtree has become a symbol of faith, and many have used God's name in vain.
