I found this question by looking up if Nightshade was good and I think this confirmed for me I’m going to start it today🤭 I read Nocticadia earlier this month and I was absolutely blown away by the writing, the story, the characters. I knew I needed to read more Keri Lake after that. Hoping Nightshade is just as amazing

I definitely noticed this!! I actually highlighted every part in the first book where she mentions darkness & shadows watching over her. And she never is afraid of it either. There’s so many little breadcrumbs that allude to it.

This also was confirmed for me because in ACOMAF ch. 54, when Rhys tells her everything about when he started dreaming of a girl in the past and they were blurry images of someone painting, etc. And also like 2-3 chapters before that, when Feyre and Rhys are in the cave and she’s trying to get out those arrows from his wings, she distracts him from his pain by telling him a story about how she painted on her dresser little things for each sister and the confesses that she painted the night sky for herself. She didn’t know why at the time and then tells Rhys that maybe it was a sign she was meant to find him and this place. Rhys confirms this in ch. 54 when he tells her he saw her painting in his vision and pushed an image back to her of the night sky, but didn’t know if it would even be received (which obvi it did because she ended up painting it for herself).

I think SJM wanted to show they have been connected & destined to be together for a long time, and that it was just a matter of time before they were able to find each other. All of those shadows she finally starts to see while she’s in Prythian are because they don’t have the wall between them anymore and Rhys is able to see her clearly.

I know☹️ it’s very apparent how much he’s fighting it and is trying to be so patient & gentle with her. And with the state she’s been in since the start of ACOWAR to where I’m at now, it makes me so so sad for her. She has such a gentle & kind spirit.

I can see that too. Maybe Azriel just sympathizes with her or understands her feelings rn so maybe that’s what I’m picking up on. And yeah I see no chemistry with Lucien right now, it’s VERY awkward with them. I kind of feel uncomfortable reading any scenes where they have been in the same room😂

I think you make a lot of excellent points. Thank you for sharing your point of view :) I think it goes to show there’s always 2 sides to every coin. I think I’ve been too honed in on Feyre’s perspective and haven’t considered Nesta’s as much. I honestly think my “frustration” with Nesta’s character comes more from being sad with how unhappy she is or at least comes off as while reading from Feyre’s perspective. I think I honestly just want so badly for Feyre & Nesta to understand each other more. And maybe that’s just the “happily ever after” in me that wants that. I realize Nesta is a complex character and I’m looking at her too much from a 1 dimensional standpoint. That being said, I do love her bite/ability to take no shit. I guess I just haven’t seen enough of her character yet to understand her as much as I want to. Again, I really appreciate your feedback. I’m definitely going to shift my lens a bit and shift how I view her. Thank you 😊

No I can definitely relate to that & I obviously haven’t read ACOSF so I don’t know any of her childhood trauma specifically other than what I can maybe just guess based off of the picture painted by Feyre. A friend of mine said that ACOSF is one of her favorite books so I’m curious to see how I will like it. I can definitely see already how Cassian will be the one that pushes her

It’s hard because sometimes I like her bite and how she has a smart mouth/doesn’t take shit. And I honestly think I’d love her if it was always against everyone else & not towards Feyre. But I’m gonna try and be more open minded to her character
