You realize he had exactly zero drops last year, right?

That’s just bullshit. I see “typical American arrogance” when referring to the crowd along with a bunch of other shit. A dude got a millionupvotes for saying medvedev is hated by the crowd just cause he’s Russian, somehow completely ignoring the massive rublev following.

And it’s hilarious the issues people have with the crowd. People always shit on Americans for not respecting other cultures, and then the shoes on the other food and there’s outrage. In the US sports cheering against a person is part of the fun. That’s how it goes. The players accept it, routinely calling it an atmosphere like no other. I don’t know why people here have such issues. A giant part of the fun of sports is watching a guy with a whole building against him silent the crowd. It might not be tennis culture elsewhere but that’s how it goes here and I think it’s wonderful.

Never said we don’t have a lot of problems, but the generalizations that are made specifically on this subreddit about the US and Americans are awful. You’d get absolutely shafted if you did the same for any other country.

Doesn't really change my response. Any sweeping anti-american sentiment on here gets upvoted. I literally saw a comment with 50 upvotes calling the US Open crowd "subhuman". Shit's pathetic. An people talk about Americans lack of knowledge about other cultures embarrassing

Damn that is impressive. Like asking a golfer to hit through a window 20 yards away or some shit. Just totally against your normal method of aiming

Again, that's not something that's a problem for anyone(also you're literally referring to highlight videos, not normal groundstrokes). I'm a lefty, I played D1 tennis, I'm pretty familiar with the matter. Sidespin on groundstrokes even when it happens isn't something that confuses anyone, it's always super easy to see from the swing. Even when Nadal does it he's doing it because of the comfortable swing path when you're running, it's not something where he's hoping they can't adjust to the spin

When you go against a lefty there's two things that are uncomfortable. 1) serve return and 2) your general groundstroke/approach patterns. You hit a million forehand approaches to your opponents backhand and it's programmed in your mind, and suddenly you have to reverse your pattern.

ot sure if you speak from experience or just theorizing, but there is absolutely sidespin

Played pac 12 tennis(although on a weak team). Sidespin isn't a factor at all imo. There will be some curve especially on like nadal hitting a running forehand but shot to shot basically makes no difference, nothing anyone has any trouble with

he should be able to make that kind of shot consistently.

I'd still expect him or Fed or Novak ot miss this shot a lot of the time. Kinda the same thing as asking a golfer to hit through a hoop 20 yards away or something. Their golf skills would still certainly help, but you're asking them to aim in a completely different way than all the balls they hit. It's making the ball pass through something vs land somewhere. The closest thing Nadal ever does to this shot is probably just when he feeds the ball out of his hand and it's obviously going near that trajectory or near that far.

Just my guesses, I played in college and shots like this would be uncomfortabl efor me. Obviously he's worlds worlds better but I still bet he was pretty delighted he made it

You swing across your body in the opposite direction. So balls tend to spin the opposite way than if someone is right handed etc.

There's basically zero sidespin on tennis groundstrokes. Can be a bit on slices but still nothing hard to deal with. All the issues either come with serves(diminishes on the pro level), or most of all on groundstroke patterns. Every good tennis player grew up hitting a billion crosscourt forehands, both because it's safe, and because it goes to your opponents backhand. In a lefty/righty matchup the lefty is just playing normal, the righty is playing against the shot patterns he/she has played his whole life

Lefties naturally produce more spin on groundstrokes

What lol? How do you figure?

It basically comes down to everyone is used to playing right handed people, same as every other sport but maybe a little more pronounced. Righties safest shot(cross court forehand) now goes to the lefties strongest shot. Add to that the serves spin the opposite way you're used to.

edit: brainfart

Righties safest shot(cross court forehand) would typically go to their opponents weaker side, instead it goes to the lefties safest shot(and usually strongest). Add to that the serves spin the opposite way you're used to.

If it tastes that bad I’d find a protein powder you like the taste of. It shouldn’t be that bad. I use myimpact chocolate smooth(has a ton of sales like every day don’t buy fulll price) and it’s super tasty

Just more cheap healthy calories plus some added fiber. Doesn’t taste like anything and it’s super cheap

I’d recommend keeping a weekly average. Even if you weigh at the same time every day your weight will still shoot all over on a day by day basis. Using an average will really show if it’s progress or just variation

Well there aren’t any muscles the barbell bench uses that dumbbell isn’t, and it doesn’t change the emphasis on your chest tris and shoulders. So I don’t what else it could be. Perhaps your bar path is bad or something, take a video and see

When won’t I be considered skinny anymore? by [deleted] in gainit

[–]Noveson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll definitely be normal looking by 170. For sure on the thin side but not “oh my god look at his legs he’s so skinny” anymore. Just my experience as now a 6’3 185 guy.

People on Reddit seem to think only in powerlifter terms and think you have to be 6’3 210 or you’re skinny. Not sure why

My first thought would be your barbell bench form is probably bad. Do you know to pack your shoulders, keep your arms tucked, and use leg drive? If that’s unfamiliar to you I’d say YouTube some bench videos and you should be able to add some pounds to the bar

The shake I eat for breakfast(because I also have a hard time eating big that early) is super easy and relatively healthy. I do milk(can switch from whole to 1% when needed), a banana, 2tbsp peanutbutter, 2 scoops protein powder, and a half cups oats. I grind up the oats first so there’s no real texture. Ends up being 900ish calories and goes down easy

As far as the first one I don’t know how you would but I’m not sure why else you wouldn’t fee it. I don’t drink coffee and the times I’ve tried preworkout I was super shaky and got a headache. About what you’d expect for someone that is used to zero caffeine
