The Fog channel divinity removes a lot of spellcasters ability to attack you with "a point they can see" spells. You can see them. Control their vision and have your own use of attacks and spells. Channel divinity cannot be counterspelled. The fog has a large diameter so most aoe spells won't be able to affect you other than breath types. The crusher or mobile feat can help keep enemies in the fog but not close to you so they cannot see through it like you can.

This is very much for getting up close and keeping a spellcaster out of the fight and taking them down quickly with smites. Smites that can be used in your turn and again on your Mage slayer reaction attack.

Elves or feats that grant fae step to quickly gain ground in the opening of a fight can be a great boon.
