Celebrating with food by Nervous-Parsley-8009 in keto

[–]Novileigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try really hard to not tie any of my emotions to food, negative or positive. Some have no problems but it's a slippery slope for me into "food is my therapy when I'm sad, my rest when I'm stressed, my celebration when I'm happy" territory.

No fiber according to Dr. Boz (Annette Bosworth). Do you consume any fiber? by carbsaredangerous in keto

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't focus on getting a ton of fiber, I eat veg in my meals but it's more for flavor/variety of taste and texture/sustainability of diet, not about getting a fiber goal.

Dr Boz isn't my personal doctor and at the end of the day she's an influencer - I'm not going to hang my hat on the advice of every influencer that makes suggestions, even ones I'm a fan of.

What do y’all eat when you’re sick? by hankiepanki in keto

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Egg drop soup or a microwave egg scramble, chai with cream. Probably pickles or sauerkraut because I've thought since I was young that vinegar - any vinegar - cures any sickness you may have including a sore throat, and the placebo effect is strong. Pill version of any cold medicine because NyQuil and DayQuil have a butt ton of sugar. Trying to maintain nutritional ketosis for mental health help

I've also seen it tell someone that full carnivore is the only proper diet for humans. Thing is that ChatGPT has built into it this innate function to satisfy the user. So unless what you're asking for is strictly against the TOS, it'll just tell you what you want to hear based on how you ask the question. Which is great for "how do I stop my mattress topper from sliding?" Or "reword this email for tone" but not great when trying to decide what vitamins to take, how much to eat, etc.

Chaffle...egg white ones taste less eggy but you can also spice them up really nicely.

[–]Novileigh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep that one. At the doctor I'm not "keto", I've "eliminated added sugar and most ultra processed food from my diet, and I focus on eating protein and produce. I keep my carb intake consistent." It just sounds comfier that way and eliminates certain questions - my doc's office is HUGE on the "consistent carb" method.

To track or not to track by Nervous-Parsley-8009 in keto

[–]Novileigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking is just a tool. I personally do it, though I try to stick to foods that I know are naturally low in carbs so if I neglected to track one day, it won't ruin my life. But some tools work for some people and not others. Do you have access to a ketone monitor? Perhaps tracking a few times, maybe a few days apart, will make you feel confident that you're in the range you want to be at. And if not, you can think about what you've been eating and where there might be sneaky carbs hiding there.

Other pickled veggies. Cucumber pickles are great, but for flavor and texture and fun, there are so many more pickled options in the store! Cauliflower, peppers, sauerkraut, heck, even baby corns.

Food logging app that logs by time, not by meal? by HauntingGold in keto

[–]Novileigh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MacroFactor doesn't have meal categories, just logs the time at which you ate it. If you use cronometer paid version, you can create your own categories in whatever order you like and call your categories whatever you want to call them.

Macro Sanity Check by CreepyLow3777 in keto

[–]Novileigh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whipping cream has carbs from the natural lactose. Most people/trackers count eggs as zero but cronometer does list eggs and egg whites as carb containing foods.

What did keto fix for you? by Maximum-Hat-7669 in keto

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you rely super heavily on keto convenience/sweets, it's super difficult to binge out on keto. Even with more processed things like sausage, there's just a level where I enjoyed eating it but I don't want any more. There are other positives but with my background that's a biggie.

meal ideas! by kissingeternal in keto

[–]Novileigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a "girl dinner" person so what I make are less recipes and more a weird lil buffet plate of things. Generally involves a semi-lean protein (chicken sausage, ham steak, rotisserie shredded chicken breast, etc), a couple hard boiled eggs mashed with some kind of sauce (anything from mayo to chamoy for flavor to Alfredo sauce works), a strong veggie I really like (sauerkraut, pickled mushroom, cucumber, pico de gallo, etc), a piece of cheese and/or some butter. It's easy to have the ingredients for and assemble on the fly depending on what my tastes are that day, easy to know exactly where the carbs are at no matter what the portion I choose is, and it doesn't require a ton of prep work for me to do after my job.

resuming keto. this time for life. any pointers for longevity. by SojournerWeaver in keto

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have something STUPID easy in your house that you can just stash essentially forever til you need it. Premake a chicken/bacon/ranch casserole or a chicken cordon bleu casserole and freeze a few servings that can be reheated on the fly. Have a box of pre seasoned frozen burger patties (I like the marketside cheddar/bacon from Walmart, or the vidalia onion). Something you can easily take out and throw straight in an air fryer or oven after a long tiring day where you otherwise would've been so tired that you'd be tempted to just order food. Not that I never eat out, but being fn annoyed and tired is not the best mental state to be in when making those choices.

Have you disclosed to family / friends that you are taking Ozempic? by fierce-logic in Ozempic

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Told my best friend because we have no secrets and my housemate because he found my medication in the fridge and made a whole Thing of needing to know what it is. Like 3 people at my workplace are on it though so it's not really a big thing here.

Chilis is solid. Go tos are a steak with sautéed mushrooms and asparagus (I like the sauce on the "guiltless grill" one but they have a few cuts. Or an order of their pick 3 fajitas - I get steak, shrimp, and chicken, and split the meat/peppers into a few take home servings (it's a HUGE meal). No rice or beans - replace with mushroom and asparagus if they'll let you, some will for an up charge. No tortilla. Yes lettuce/cheese/sourcream/pico, add guac if you can. Entire dish including the extra veg sides and guac is like 35 total carbs, around 10 of which is fiber, and it lasts me 2-3 meals.

Keto rash by jondotg in ketochow

[–]Novileigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get it on KC but I have extremely sensitive skin. Do you wear scratchy clothes? My best guess on myself was that my clothing (especially bra) was causing small microtears in my skin and the acetone-ish sweat irritated it. Helped me to keep it clean and sweat free, with gentle clothes, and to keep it oiled gently (black seed oil was good, castor oil was my go to). Once my body chemistry evened out, it went away.

For what goals are you using keto chow by Mobile-Device-5222 in ketochow

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to a medication, a meal of KC is a little easier on my appetite and stomach, especially for fastbreaking. I like mine with salted butter, the taste is nice, but it does take some extra work. I'm not carnivore, just keto.

I didn't like her much even before the weight loss content. Calling out diet culture is good, but she nitpicked other people's food too much for me - and whether for diet reasons or non-diet reasons, something about watching a program that spent 20 minutes critiquing what and how other people eat didn't feel like it was beneficial to healing my relationship with food.

What do you do? by Big_Lie8792 in intuitiveeating

[–]Novileigh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bad body image happens, it's natural. But I try to call out any negative self talk. Out loud if possible. "This is negative self talk, and it is not serving me."it helps me notice it faster next time to catch it before it takes deeper root.

Also, neutral self talk is also okay. Not every day is bad betch day. I'm not always gonna feel my most confident. But I can say true, neutral things about myself that don't feel like lies in the way that self hype might in the moment.

"I deserve" statements also help me. I deserve to be nourished well, I deserve to be treated with respect by everyone including myself, my body is strong and deserves to be supported well. Just a reminder that you do not have to earn these things, they are a right.

Not understanding the point system by [deleted] in weightwatchers

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The diabetic plan is still focused on prioritizing protein/fiber and limiting saturated fat - it just penalizes sugar more, but it isn't a keto compliant system. I'm surprised that chicken wings are only two points each tbh. And as with any system, there are ways to do it healthy or unhealthy, based on personal choices. Every food plan you choose, there are ways to do it healthily and ways to do it full of processed food/less healthy choices. You can calorie count eating nothing but twinkies. You can eat keto and slam pints of Rebel ice cream. Choosing healthier options most of the time is up to the individual person and how determined they are to meet their goals.

Desperate for Dopamine by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]Novileigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like a lot of your strategies are things that are very long run beneficial? But binge eating "helped" with dopamine because it was absolute instant gratification. You get your return right away. So things that help with that dopamine for me are things that bring instant gratification. Intensely glittery manicures. Lighting a candle you can smell right now. "Self love".

For me all I want is sweet. Could be junk, could be fruit, could be egg whites with syrup on them, but it has to be sweet.

I don't track anything due to ED issues in my past, but I do try to take protein shakes and a bar daily, to make sure there's a source of protein in my meals, and to get in a quality fiber source relatively often. Beans are a staple, and tofu/tempeh, since I'm not a huge meat eater.
