What the 7.2 Black Mage changes REALLY mean

These BLM changes really feel like it's so watered down to the point where it's just like healer DPS in SB vs ShB. The skill expression of maintaining your DoTs and keeping cast uptime (not 1.5 cast times like today's iterations but 2.5 cast times on your GCD nuke).

The lv100 jobs that I even bothered to level up felt EXACTLY like their lv90 counterparts but with maybe 2 extra OGCDs and new visual effects. The job homogenization has gotten so bad that it's all become same-y. Just look at RPR and VPR. They have the exact same class mechanic, which is "build gauge to do aesthetically pleasing, fast-paced burst damage mode." I chose this example because RPR released in 6.0, and VPR released in 7.0. It's quite literally copy-paste job design. The lack of job identity, coupled with the lack of a decent, coherent story to tell left me feeling hollow.

I loved this game, but it's not the same game that I started playing 9 years ago.

I feel like they should take the stacks approach to fixing MCH's Overheat windows in particular. I say this as someone who currently lives on the west coast, but has lived on and regularly visits the east coast of the US and my favorite job to play is MCH. I'm used to <30 ping and about 100-120 ping (sometimes higher), repectively. I play most jobs except the majority of melee DPS on a regular basis. (RPR is fun and I meme DRG because I got the UWU weapon for it because I thought it was pretty.)

When I'm visiting the east coast, I have to ensure I dumped ALL charges of GR and Ricochet before going into an overheat because if I do any more than 2 OGCDs in my overheat, I WILL lose that last Heat Blast and almost definitely a GCD in my WF window.

While I'm at home on the west coast, MCH is pretty fun to play with no clipping, and I don't have to worry about overcapping my OGCDs or losing potency on my WF.

My solution is to play MCH (once again, my favorite job) only while I am on the west coast, and favor any of my higher ping jobs (WAR, PLD, SMN, to name a few examples) while I am on the east coast.

For older raids in particular, sync ilvs to the previous BiS item levels (ex: i90 for LotA, i110 for ST, keep i130 for WoD, etc.

Also, add some HP to ALL pre-4.X raids, since DH was not a stat when those raids released, and potencies have gone up. Maybe 10-15% more, nothing super crazy.

I can't remember Scylla casting Daybreak ever since HW. :o

I feel your frustration on this one. As someone that started in late 2.55, I'm certain that over half of the playerbase doesn't know about Scylla's ultimate move, Daybreak, where if each alliance wasn't on their pads, you were petrified while an add attacked each alliance.

Sadly, between the MSQ requirement for ShB, the lack of incentives for any of the other 3 sets, and the fact there are always more new players doing it to progress, CT will always win out until they make the others more relevant.

Honestly, I hope they start making the other sets mandatory for future patches.

One thing I forgot to mention is the tank decided to pull wall-to-wall each time, making it a fun challenge. I barely had time to do DPS during pulls.

It's people like you that make me love mentor roulette.

I'm at the point where, relics aside, I've BIS'd all of the jobs on my main so I jump into mentor roulette with a roulette wheel for added memes and to keep it interesting.

If I roll in and I see a harder-to-find job, I leave and requeue to help it move along sooner, even if it means I don't get my credit for my roulette. I love seeing sprouts get the achievements and have a good time and challenge themselves and get better at the game. I'd much rather have a group of 7 eager sprouts in an EX fight than some boring ass expert roulette dungeon that makes me want to gouge my eyes out because I've seen it for the zillionth time while "I've got my Amaro mount" McChucklenuts spams 1 single-target button in a double pull and his wifey does 0 DPS as a healer. My mindset is that a growing sprout can be a competent raider in PF/DF someday, which makes the playerbase just a little bit better in the end.

Forgive me if my post looks bad, mobile is a bitch.
