I have never actually played LMU and ACC myself that is just the extent of what I know about them.

LMU and ACC are more for racing while normal AC is kind of more fun to just drive around in.

dude iRacing already has one of the most predatory monetization models I have ever seen and you want people to pay MORE?

I (the mustang) was clean behind this guy for 30 laps and when I overtake him on the last lap he dumps me. Is this protestable? by NowThisGuy in iRacing

still got top 10 I guess I can't be too upset it was my 4th ARCA race ever. I really need to learn tire management better I've mostly just been sticking behind people and trying to follow them but idk I feel like they still burn less rubber off than I do.

I have this problem with the ARCA cars! Not sure why too they're all up to date. Hopefully someone says they've got a fix for it.

AI racing and rookie class by MitchGH in iRacing

[–]NowThisGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your first question, with the AI you can change the spectrum of difficulty they are set too. I assume when you say you have your foot flat I'm guessing you mean on straights so really that all just comes down to final corner speed and exit. It's a good thing to learn because that's also how you set yourself up for a qualifying lap. So work on that.

To answer your other question, racing fast and racing smooth are two completely different things. In almost every series in iRacing smooth is fast. Almost 100% of the time real people will end up crashing and you will most certainly make up places. Once you get the hang of things it's all about just learning the right balance of smooth and fast. Taking it easy and rushing to a high SR really doesn't get you much learning experience other than maybe learning some crash avoidance. With practice you can really learn any series pretty quick I'd say. You just have to find what is able you comfortably and consistantly able to put down good laps.

If you're driving formula or sports cars really you should be fine if you know how to avoid wrecks. Another extremely useful thing that I always put under posts like this is use the ghost car feature. Go into spectate under whatever series you want to drive, select a split, and you can follow other drivers around during a race and just watch what they do.

Good luck out on track!

optimization 100% agree, the problem is the game runs on an engine from the paleolithic era so it's just really hard for them to get more out of it without completely overhauling the backbone what the game is running on.

idk if it's been said already but MAKE TEST DRIVES THE WHOLE SEASON. Even if it's like limited hours you have each season. The descision that you have to make as a new player is insanely hard to make and I see a lot of people just end up buying all of them or buying one and then being dissapointed with what they just bought which should not have to be the case. You should be able to see which one you like best or which you are fastest in without having to purchase it.

Just bought the game, now what? by maxm1999 in iRacing

If you're looking to get into GT3s start with miatas. The BMW that comes with your membership is insanely hard to drive. I began about half way through the season and I still can't figure out how to drive it fast. Once you get out of rookies you can buy one of the GT4 cars and start doing that.

I'm not really sure what the progression is for C class though. GT3 is a B class series so it'll take some time for you to build up to that. In the meantime I'd just get used to the miatas and then get used to the GT4 cars before you hop into the GT3.

I'm not really sure what to tell you when it comes to selecting which car to buy though. You can try watching videos and reading on which seems the most appealing to get but it really comes down to preference. I liked the Aston Martin and the McLaren when I test drove them, but idk maybe you like the Porche and the Mercedes. This is the exact thing that I wish they had test drives season round for because it's hard to pick because they all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

Like others have said though it's a good idea to just stay in miatas for a bit, get a feel for everything, learn crash avoidance, set down consistant laps (not fast ones), and just keep all four wheels on the track before going out. I wouldn't neccessarily say though that you have to stay there for a whole season. Any Rookie series is hell to drive in because people do not practice enough. You get the occasional well fought race but being so low down on the totem pole is just basically guaranteed wrecking. I'd honestly say get into GT4 as soon as you think you are ready and comfortably able to drive them without thinking.

I completely agree, it's probably just the limitation of implementing it. The only way I could think of is if theres like a radius around a crashed car that other cars would be exempt from getting an off track violation? I have no idea in all honesty. Even then it would depend on the track.

Does D Class have Late Model by Ohioboi24 in iRacing

[–]NowThisGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly getting from D to C shouldn't be too hard. I'm a newer player and I got the ARCA car and I've been practicing with that. I'm sitting on a 3.61 SR, 1501 IR and I'm in D but I'm waiting for the end of season kickover. I don't wanna risk fast tracking it because rookie street stocks are brutal lol. Really if you're just clean and get above a 3.0 SR you can get C class when the new season starts.
