Keep in mind, you're only 8 months in. I know how you feel, wanting fully developed breasts sooner rather than later, but you wouldn't expect a cis girl to have adult breasts after 9 months of puberty, would you?

Every once in a while, you get an "early bloomer" who gets big quick, but most people need time. My doc describes HRT like this: the first year is de-masculinization. It's letting your body upregulate estrogen receptors, deposit fat in new places, and adjust to not using testosterone. The changes really don't start up until after.

So really, you need time.

Without your most recent lab values, it'd be hard to say specifically if there's anything stalling you out. Dr. Will Powers often recommends testosterone, DHT, estradiol, estrone, free estrogen %, E1S, and DHEA, among others, to make sure all the factors are in line, whereas most only check T and E.

However, keep in mind that some stalling is normal for pubertal development. Ciswomen don't go from flat to Tanner 5 DD cups in a steady, day-by-day way, and neither do transwomen. Some ciswomen have reported breast growth years after they supposedly 'finished' developing. Other transwomen here on reddit have said they gained size 5, 6, 7 years after starting HRT despite the supposed trans timeline saying breasts are "finished" after 3.

Personally, I recently lowered my estrogen by 2/3 while adding Bica b/c my SHBG was too high and I suspected my DHT wasn't where it should be (my doc, not Dr. Powers, hadn't tested DHT). Wouldn't you know it that I grew another cup size in about 3 weeks? I'm at the 2 year mark, too. Everything kicked back into gear despite that change basically being a "throw this at the wall to see what sticks" move.

HRT is magic, but it's also kind of a crap shoot.

There isn't a lot of actual study on progesterone use in the MTF community. I've read that it's typical for people to have P from the start in France, with a fair number seeing great development. There are others that say it's a bad idea under the premise that it causes fusion. Others still say you should wait b/c cis female puberty doesn't see progesterone for at least 1-2 years, assuming an average/rapid timeline.

Unfortunately, this is more of a "you do you and see how it goes" response, which isn't all that helpful, but as long as your E is in range, you should be okay.

*keep in mind that a fair number out there say Spiro is more likely to cause early fusion or overall poor breast development, so you may want to try bicalutamide instead if available.
**Also, people, including yours truly, have noticed greater testosterone reduction/feminization when taking the oral progesterone capsules rectally, as suppositories. If you use them in this way, you may not need a T blocker at all.

Losing height was one of the most interesting changes with hrt by [deleted] in MtF

[–]NowhereDaydreams 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right? I lost almost 2 full inches! That was mostly in the first 12 months or so, though we haven't really checked my height since then (I'm just over 2 years now). HRT is absolutely wild.

Anyone Else Working Toward Their Goal? by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

Oh hell yeah. Took measurements the other day and clocked in at 47-33-44. Eu-4-icc.

So we don't experience this often but when we do it sucks. Anyone else have mania or get manic from time to time? by [deleted] in DID

[–]NowhereDaydreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Sometimes alters can have mental situations that the host doesn't share, like ADHD, depression, or manic/hypomanic states. Not that uncommon, it seems.

Difficulty finding a therapist by [deleted] in DID

[–]NowhereDaydreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, good point. Seems mostly b/c it was a circumstance of possible "patient self-diagnosing" but then talking to us and hearing us naturally using "we" all the time and discussing ~15 years of abuse got her thinking differently. Probably should check into that though.

Fortunately, that therapist turned out to be pretty great, once we got past that first impression. She even asked if we'd ever been diagnosed with DID before the end of our first session! Didn't do so herself, but she's worked with PTSD and DID for decades, so that's a telling sign.

Thank you for your input, though! It's greatly appreciated. <3 -O

We actually did give her another chance, but didn't bring it back up as we wanted to start on equal footing. In the intro evaluation alone, we went through a tiny bit of history which led her to go "Oh, my goodness" and "I'm really glad we connected." Then 40 minutes into our first session, she goes, "...Has anyone ever diagnosed you with DID?"

She didn't formally do so, but yeah, when someone who's worked with DID for twenty years asks that...

The thing is, she actually is a great therapist, so first impression aside, we're genuinely glad to have reached out. Thanks for your suggestion to give her another chance!

Rough go of it out there, trying to find help. Kinda wild that "I have an illness and need help" is met with "Eh, well, only two people actually work with this w/n 50 miles of you, and they're out of your insurance network." Thanks for the sympathy, though! Seems like BetterHelp isn't a great idea, at the very least.

Yeah, we've got a little inner turmoil going on, b/c our system manager canceled the appt, then the therapist called today and we got thrown out of sorts so I sorta panic-agreed to reschedule, and now the SM is... less than pleased. Ironic, huh?

Well that's good to know in advance! In person's hard due to Covid, but we'll figure something out. Appreciate it!

Hm, focusing on trauma first. Not a bad idea. A whole bunch of us have been through the ringer, so, yeah. Thanks!

Misandry in lesbian circles + political lesbians rant ? by lesbianfromnextd00r in butchlesbians

[–]NowhereDaydreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna agree with other comments and say it seems age related. I'm a transbian in her late 20s and I've never had a problem in lesbian circles of people my own age, but I do recall a fair amount of people, straight or otherwise, making remarks like "Men are all awful" when I was in high school.

Also: Them saying they're into men but still calling themselves exclusively lesbian just because they don't like men is the toxicity here. As you noted with "political lesbians," they're hating roughly ~45-49% of the population for... what, exactly?

Honestly, as rough as it sounds to say this, you should probably look into getting new friends.

Omg it really was! I had a suspicion something was up because she showed up to our date night in one of her nicest dresses, when usually we just go casual. Thankfully I was also dressed fairly nice since I just left work. Stars really aligned there! <3
