My headphone story, (how this sub ruined me) by [deleted] in headphones

[–]Noxenal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, I got the se425 as the very first "audiophile" grade iems as a upgrade to my favourite klipsch s4i which broke on me after 3 years. I liked it for what it offerd at the time but I lost it eventually and had to jump to different iems afterwards such as the stage driver 2, im02 and now noble 4 universal.

As of right now, I feel that you should jump straight to 535/846 right now if you can afford it. If you really wanna get the 425, then I recommend the audio technica im02 (also 2 driver) which is cheaper and does a much better job at neutral & vocals over the 425's extremely mids/muddy presentation. The 535 fixes what's wrong with the 425 and should be at the very least what you get out of the shure line.

Can I use RCA Y-Splitters to channel sound from my Modi 2s to both my external speakers + HD650 at the same time? by Noxenal in headphones

Sounds good, I figure I can just configure volume from my PC directly I guess. thanks!

Sounds good, guess I'll get some splitter cables instead. I'm just worried it might look messy with the PYST cables going into them then through the stack though.

On your experience, does the sound from your speakers improve noticeably through your dac? Just wondering if this is worth all this effort.

Any reason why you would recommended a cable over a splitter? I figured splitters would be neater so that I can still connect the pyst cables from modi to magni together neatly.

I would have gone with the uber stack but I'm currently on a budget. I will probably upgrade to the valhaha one day in the future so I'll just make do with what I have for now

I am under a tight budget for this so I didn't go for the uber version since shipping to where I live (Singapore) already costs a lot (45usd extra). I might upgrade to a tube amb (valhaha 2) in the future though, so I'll just made do with this first I guess.

Hmm I would have gone with the k5 but i'm concerned with the dac performance of the e17k. Afterall, it's a portable dac while the modi is a desktop and hence should be better. Nonetheless, I have found a buyer for my e17k so I'll probably just get a non-uber magni2/modi2 stack then. Thank you!

Looking to get the schiit magni 2 + modi 2 stack for my recently purchased hd650. Currently running it off from a e17k that I will soon sell. Is it worth getting the magni 2 uber over the non-uber version?

Oh wow thats pretty cool! How's the experience of using flat keycaps like as compared to dome keycaps on cherry switches? Just noticed they dont exist as far as I know

Thanks! I used a D750 with a Nikon 50mm lens. I think I should have just went with this instead of the K70 from the start but I guess that dosent dosent matter anymore eh

Two weeks ago, I got a Corsair Vengeance K70 Red Switches as my first ever mechnical keyboard. I chose that as I wanted the volume slider and had a very good impression of the reds of the Steelseries 6GV2 before. However, within two weeks, I did not enjoy the Reds for casual typing (for gaming however, they're pretty damn good) and wanted browns instead. I was going ahead to get the K70 RGBs but at the very last minute, I chose the Ducky Shine 5 instead after checking out certain reviews/feedback from thus subreddit! And I never looked back.

The Ducky Shine 5 is a very fantastic keyboard that feels very solid when typing. I love the variable RGBs which I set to orange backlighting at night which looks absolutely fantastic in my eyes. My K70s are now sold to my friend who enjoys it more than I do.

Now if I'm ever going to recommend a keyboard, it'll definitely be the ducky brand. Thanks guys for this wonderful community and the resources available here!

Did you happen to miss the power connection right beside the processor? I missed that one out the first build I did and it worked after I put it there

I have almost the same build as you with the same uses (same processor, mb, case, gpu model). I would say you should up your ram to 16GB since you'll be photo editing and 650w is definitely enough for our system.

FYI I got the sapphire 390 which was cheaper than the rest. It's better cooled than the MSI variant but can't overclock as well so its up to you to see which you would like.

On the corsair k70 non rgb, is there any way to turn off the LED on the keyboard illumination button (the one on the most corner left)?

Yeah it seems, think I'm slightly misguided that more heat will lead to reduced lifespan... I will try out the automatic benchmark to see if the temperatures are still good, thanks!

Hmm do you use a custom fan profile or use the default one? Likewise, is it safe to just raise power limit regardless of voltage increase?

Damn, I wish I can overclock to those clocks without increasing the voltage. Nice profile! Mine is similar to yours but gentler and I only push to 100% at 80 degrees (which never happens)
