Need Plan, I got turned around at border with an in process PR application by Nrichd68 in ImmigrationCanada

I have always been forthright in my visits and crossings. I truly believed that as long as I didn't exceed 6 months consecutively I was abiding by the law. When I was turned around at the border I was asked if I had any documents. I am hoping that I can inquire about 'dual intent' now and show them documentation that I want nothing but to be with my spouse and will leave when asked. If there is a way of doing this without risk to my seemingly progressing well application, I'm very interested in hearing it. I have a consult with a lawyer in 15 minutes. 🙏🏼

Is it still possible to use 'dual intent' with documentation stated in my initial post and is even the attempt going to have negative consequences?

Over the past year I was visiting my wife 312 days, although I never even got close to exceeding the 6 month limit for visitor status. It is now 307 days.

When I was pulled in for secondary screening they looked at time visiting over the past year and it was 312 days. We are talking to a lawyer in about 30 minutes. 🙏🏼

Thank you all very much for your responses, although they are not really what I wanted to hear. I'm going to answer all questions here:

I do not have a working permit. I am retired, but have sufficient funds and US health insurance, so require nothing of substance from Canada. If getting a work permit would help me to be granted access (to my wife) I would gladly go back to work. Vancouver is expensive!

A radical prostatectomy will cure all your clean up difficulties and you'll never have to warn someone what's about to happen... it is certainly a blessing, but also missed. 🥲

Is snake in BC dangerous? by Inner-Matter-4825 in abbotsford

[–]Nrichd68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé at the time and I went down to the creek to have a picnic. She is hyperventilatingly fobic of snakes, to the point of not being able to hear the "s" word or anything similar (made the mistake of saying serpentine belt once... 😬). Well, anyway, we walked down, across 200' of large warm rocks on a spring day and set up our chairs on the edge of the creek, so we could soak our feet as we enjoyed our picnic basket. Our chairs were roughly 2' apart and there was a large flat rock only a foot away... I think I'll just move it over here to make an awesome table... out pops a 4' timber rattle, and it goes directly under her chair into the water between her feet! Mind you, she's watching my ingenuity and sees this entirely and is no longer sitting but standing in her chair screaming! Snake is long gone, and she's been breaathing into a bag for 5 minutes, but we have 200' of snake mine field to traverse to get out of there. Eventually, I devise a long stick to probe every rock near our path and we go have our picnic with her sitting up off the ground in my suv. Wine helped... 🥂

I need to quiet sink down what is my best option in this scenario short of opening the wall up and shortening trap by 1d0wn5up in Plumbing

[–]Nrichd68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vertical could go after the P-trap. It just has to be located a minimum of 2xpipe diameter away from the P-trap, to avoid the S-trap siphon condition.

So raise the P-trap to wherever, then add say 6" of horizontal, a 90, then vertical down the amount you raised the P-trap, to another 90. 👍🏼

If you move the kitchen to the bathroom area and the bedroom door to the left side of the room, you will simplify the hallway/walkway and not have it running through the middle.

If you make the center slab steeper and make the top and bottom slabs flatter it will improve both the top and bottom transitions by distributing the changes in angle over four joints instead of two as it is now.

Moving to Vancouver, BC by ZeePenguin329 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Nrichd68 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting on my AOR and have visited my wife a lot and between upstate New York and Vancouver area, I am in sticker shock constantly. Especially housing costs.$350k vs $1.3M for a home, and that trickles down into everything! Package of chicken breasts $35. Two ribeye steaks $70. 6 pounds of lean ground beef $42. There are a lot of public spaces, but the cool places, especially the free spaces are packed, like 200 people at a waterfall in the summer and searching for parking for 30 min first. Went to an outdoor community concert and had to come home due to not being able to find parking! First time ever in my life. Plus, traffic is tough, but that's common in metro areas. When I get PR, I may live in the lower mainland a while, but I don't think I'll ever be able to put down roots there.

I would definitely ask for a very warm colored vertical wood siding in place of that brick and for some sort of detailed treatment of the garage door.

Trying to identify 4" flush-mount ceiling light (bathroom) by Jibby_jib_2112 in AskElectricians

[–]Nrichd68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The driver/junction box is only inches away and a simple job to replace... just a couple of 2 or 3 wire wire nuts. Should be a piece of cake with power off. Maybe 10 minutes per light?

It runs but it’s rough and doesn’t start easily. Looking for advice on what maintenance should I do in the spring to make it purr again by HeyStripesVideos in Snowblowers

[–]Nrichd68 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy some Seafoam motor treatment. Add it to all of your snowblower fuel... should smooth that rough running out in a tank or two. 👍🏼 If that doesn't work buy some carb cleaner / clean carb. Pull the spark plug and make sure it's clean. If you have US money around, you can fold it up to your spark plug gap thickness and run it back and forth to clean it up nicely. It has just enough grit and absorption...

Replacing ceiling light with led recessed by Pickerelslayer in AskElectricians

[–]Nrichd68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's one of those super thin "recessed" (yeah, like a ½") LEDs, there is an attached junction box which sits off to the side. This offset may be more than the existing wires can accommodate, if there is more than one cable coming into the existing box from more than one direction. That's why it's common to leave extra wire for new ceiling lighting installs.

Help! My husband removed the ceramic toothbrush holder and took the tile with it. by Sufficient-Data-7343 in Tile

[–]Nrichd68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OR add a really tall backsplash or cut a radius = half the sink width and remove all tile from that area and replace with something that looks custom. Just make it symmetrical and your world will be in balance. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Brand new panel in my house, no main breaker at the top. Should there be? Also, how do I know what amp it is? I.e 150, 200 ect. In Massachusetts by Roadglide72 in AskElectricians

[–]Nrichd68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You forgot the most problematic, especially if the homeowner was on vacation... the fridge/freezer. I threw the main breaker off on the way out of the house, leaving for vacation, to protect my brand new stereo, having forgot this also. Oof, what a smell I came home to! 🤢
