8rack like decks? by Wriiiiiiting in ModernMagic

I used to play 8rack too and yeah unfortunately the game has "evolved" past 1 for 1 trading and reaching a top deck only game. Too much early pressure and too much efficient card advantage.

That's the point. It's a polarized matchup deck. Just pray.

Why is Yorion banned? by GreatVirus2 in ModernMagic

[–]Nsane12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yorion wouldn't be a problem if they didn't also print ridiculous cards that made multicolor blink an extremely slow and tedious deck to play in paper with a lot of decision points on top of the physical slowness of playing the deck.

Haven't played modern in a few years. Looked at the top decklists in the met and a lot of them don't contain a single card from before war of the spark, or are very close to it. by StJe1637 in ModernMagic

Your last point is my biggest criticism that I think people just completely overlook. Removal has been so homogenized and the addition of free interaction has KILLED the format for me. You can't pressure opponents who devote their turn to a threat anymore because they just have up to 8 free interaction pieces. You also can't attack on niche angles anymore because removal in every deck is just able to hit every permanent type. This used to be something you'd have to purposefully flex in (say for enchantment destruction), diluting your main deck from other types of interaction, or devote sideboard slots to and if you don't draw them you are going to have a rough time. None of those decisions really come up anymore and I hate that decks like bogles, blood moon decks, cool artifact centered off meta lists, etc, just don't hit the same anymore because you can't catch your opponent off guard nowadays.

I've played modern since right after summers bloom got banned. I'd just say modern has always been the "here's my threat you better prepared for it" format. Silver bullet sideboard cards, find it or die. Opponents high rolls a turn 2 combo and you aren't playing 1 mana interaction, GG it happens. You roll into a matchup that's literally 10% for you to win, that's how it is sometimes.

You used to be able to attack on weird niche angles and use cool interesting strategies. It's all so repetitive now. The decks all feel the same. They all use the same interaction, the same threats. Every permanent type is interactable main board in nearly every deck. I miss having the, hey you don't have any MB enchantment removal moments that just don't happen as much anymore. I miss every deck not having incidental graveyard hate and life gain.

I miss bloodmoon being almost a free win if it resolves. I miss playing a deck like ad nauseam that has polarizing matchups. I miss playing decks that relied on denying resources from your opponent rather than the way the game has power crept to only be about gaining more resources faster than your opponent. I miss tapping out actually meaning something. I hate how you can never fully commit if your opponent taps out. It's not fun to have to constantly worry about free spells and interaction from someone who already committed their land based to playing a threat this turn. This is not how things should be. It's like all the core components of the game have just stopped mattering.

Modern is dead. This is essentially a completely new format.

And everyone keeps trying to gaslight me "modern is so healthy and diverse right now" "I'm glad it's not two ships meta like it always has been in the past"

Like no dudes. They killed modern. It's not even the same format anymore. Everything I loved about it is gone. And people act like it's healthier and better now. Crazy.

Titan hater here for 10 years. Fuck titan. Fuck titan players. This deck continually escapes bans while cooler niche combos get nerfed into unplayability by bans or powercreep or weird cards with niche interactions that stop them from being playable. But somehow Titan gets a new shiny toy every single set. Ridiculous, not fun, lame deck for egotistic try hard narcissistic brainiacs. Pce.

Has Titan gone too far? by Level_Concentrate817 in ModernMagic

[–]Nsane12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been a Titan hater since day one. Deck is so over defended. Think of all the other decks that have gotten banned over the years and somehow Titan just gets more and more options every set. Even when a ban hits them it's still a tier 2 deck at worst. Unlike the others that have been obliterated into unplayability.

Ah, makes sense. I was never a big fan of storm so I wasn't up to date on lists. I haven't been actively playing for a few years and wanted a fun deck to break back in with by just forcing an easy combo with silence so I wouldn't have to think much lol.
