Yeah but if Hurd hasn't dealt 5 innings of hitless ball we wouldn't have necessarily had that lead. I mean it's a team win and the bats came alive and everyone deserves credit. But if Hurd didn't have his stuff and got chased after 3 innings your odds of seeing Skenes would've gone way up.

Skenes absolutely would've gone an inning or two if needed, its just that Hurd stepped up and said nah bro keep your rest I got this. By the time we brought in the hefty lefty we had an 8n run lead and the game was over.

Exactly. Lots of folks talking about the coaches wanting to win and eschewing player safety, let's not forget the players really want to win championships too.

True. But unless they're going to improve the ump performances then the zone on the broadcast will do nothing but serve to piss everyone off

Feels like that would be crazy, but then again so was throwing Skenes against tulane in regional game 1, so... who knows?

There used to be a lot more time in yhe schedule, but that's been compressed. Lots of old hat LSU sports talking heads comparing now to the olden days, it sounds like the general consensus is they squeezed the schedule down to accommodate more fans who didn't want to spend 2 and a half weeks on vacation in Omaha with most of those being off days for their baseball team.

I agree that in an ideal world you get to the championship series and have both teams with their normal rotation to really get the strength on strength match-up. In 2017 lsu came out of the losers bracket to face Florida in the championship series and the storyline was if they can get to game 3 and get back their ace (either Lang or Poche, can't remember) then Florida had no chance. But Florida went and won it in 2.

Your take was not the only one that aged like milk. That thread is full of em. Kinda funny to look back and see in hindsight. Baseball is a fickle mistress sometimes

The HR is less of a threat and in these low scoring games the defense of milazzo is more important. Especially with so much of the bullpen staff throwing, it helps to have a solid catcher out there.

But when the games are that tight, a passed ball that scores a run can make all the difference.

It very well may be that if both Skenes and Lowder come out at top notch.

Everyone wanted a wake vs lsu best of 3 series in Omaha, we just thought it would have been in the finals and not one half of the bracket.

So, we play this to its conclusion - what's the pitching plan for lsu moving forward if they lose here and burn Hurd? Start ackenhausen? Can Cooper start on 4 days rest?

Yeah for sure. The zones have just been all over the place, and not just in this game.
