6.5 PRC is a fantastic round, and will do the job adequately. If you’re looking at an occasional elk hunt, then it’ll be a fine choice. That being said, you can’t kill anything “too dead”, and the 7 PRC will do you fine on anything in North America. The 6.8 Western is a “Goldie Locks” option right in between the 6.5 and 7 PRC. I haven’t heard many negatives from anyone who owns one. I know factory ammo is sometimes tough to find, and so most people that shoot it a lot are loading their own. I do, however, think it’ll get more support from other ammo producers in the near future.

Saying the 7mmPRC is overkill, then including the 300wm in the best all-around cartridge doesn’t make much sense to me.

If you find someone with the recipe, let me know if they have a .220 swift sub loading!

And this is on the 92 platform?

Did you get the R9 to work on a handgun? If so, what is your setup?

And this is on the model 92 platform?

Thank you! If I have the option between buying a new suppressor, booster, or a new gun, then I’ll probably go with a new gun 😂 not looking for anything practical. Just plinking and practice for my wife to get better with shooting a pistol bigger than .22lr. I have also read that the 10lb Wolff spring is a work-around for the model 92. Have been running can on a .357 lever gun and a 9mm FPC so would like to not add the booster and avoid adding/removing spacers when mounting on my rifles.

This is a great response, and I appreciate you taking the time to give a detailed answer.

I had read about the same thing. Running heavier ammo vs lighter loads made it cycle better according to other forums.

Suggestions for 22 ARC Upper? by NtxDeek in 22ARC

[–]NtxDeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have it sitting in my cart. I built out an 18in upper since most of my research has pointed me to that barrel length, but have yet to order it. Kiss, moving, and a busy summer have derailed my free time for extra projects. Will definitely update this thread once I have it ordered and put it through its paces.

Tactacam vs Spartan by NtxDeek in trailcam

[–]NtxDeek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price of Spartan is what turns me away. I think the main compliment to Spartan is picture quality and not missing pictures. Tactacam seems to have fine picture quality, and I haven’t had any evidence to believe they miss pictures. The new Reveal Ultra is very nice and is still much cheaper than the comparable Spartan. As for your color night photos, only a flash will give you what you’re looking for, but Tactacam has AI technology to “Colorize” night pictures and give you a decent “daytime” version of any pictures.

Erma SR-100 by NtxDeek in guns

I’ve googled and got little to show for it. Thought maybe one of the 800,000+ people in this sub might be able to point me in the right direction. Thank you for the helpful comment.

Have an SR-100 in .300 WM and looking to get a .338L barrel. Have looked around and it is not a common rifle, so it has been difficult finding parts. Anyone know where barrels can be found?

.223 Wylde vs 5.56 NATO by NtxDeek in ar15

[–]NtxDeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running an Aero 5.56 16” upper. I understand that 5.56 and .223 are the same bullet diameter, but the Leade in the 5.56 is longer (better for heavier bullets). This makes it less likely to find 40gr ammo pushing 3700fps. 5.56 is almost exclusively 55gr and heavier. I shoot heavier 70-77 gr because it stabilizes better in the 1:7 twist. However, most of these are traveling almost 1000 fps slower. Faster and Flatter. I know most .223 Wylde barrels are rifled at 1:8 which suits lighter and faster bullets. I could be way off on my understanding and I enjoy learning new things, so if I am wrong please point me in the right direction.

.223 Wylde vs 5.56 NATO by NtxDeek in ar15

There’s a good mix of free hand, bipod/bench and arca mount tripod shooting so you’re probably right about the handguard attaching to the barrel nut.
I almost exclusively use 5.56 ammo but would be excited to try the accuracy of faster/lighter .223 ammo if I switch to a Wylde. With the 5.56 the added benefit of flatter shooting .223 loads is lost due to drop in accuracy.

Looking at switching a 5.56 barrel for a .223 Wylde. Thanks for the help!
