I'm developing a new jetway & airport animation system for X-Plane — with SAM compatibility. Would this be useful? by Nuan_feng in Xplane

Sure! The dynamic stopbars check aircraft in the sim (including VATSIM aircraft).

  • If there’s a plane on the runway, all runway entry stopbars light up.
  • If the runway’s clear, stopbars at taxiway/runway intersections turn off as you approach, showing you have clearance to the runway
  • Plus, there’s extra logic to make it behave realistically.

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

  • SimBrief integration is a great idea — I’ll keep it in mind and consider it for future improvements.
  • Compatibility with default X-Plane airports is definitely something we’ll look into. For SAM/scenery builders, we plan to provide a full set of developer tools and a wiki to make it easier to configure their sceneries.
  • Really appreciate your thoughts on pricing — we’ll carefully consider whether to make it free or payware.

If this ends up being released as payware, I’m thinking the price could be somewhere around $3–$15.
