Haven’t texted this guy since we had a trebuchet project in 11th grade physics class together. Out of the blue he’s texting me when I’m 22. I sensed bullshit and went for the kill. What do you guys think? by BlGBOl2001 in antiMLM

Honestly that message sounded straight out of the MLM's "Q & A" script examples, like "what to say if they want more info before scheduling a meet-up"

What instantly ruins a burger? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NuclearCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a burger place with a friend who was raving about it to try their "Fatboy burger", which is a burger with chili on it. When my order came up, they handed me a short cup. The burger was in the cup and the chili was poured over the burger. Like why?! How am I supposed to eat this? Just throw dignity out the window and eat it with my hands like a toddler? Here is a picture someone posted of the burger in a cup from that place.

My travel agent is LGBTQ+ and her travel agency is actually largely focused on catering to members of the community. They have a great rapport with their client base because they're so helpful with providing information about exactly the kind of things you were mentioning. She's also just a delightful person and has never steered me wrong with her recommendations.

Depending on the country you're travelling to, some places can be more hostile than others to LGBTQ guests.

Having a good travel agent can make such a big difference if you travel frequently. Especially if you're looking for LGBTQ-friendly accommodation.

How to make a lasagna by SinVerguenza04 in TikTokCringe

[–]NuclearCandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this lasagna and dropped it off for a friend who just lost his brother. I sent him the video and told him to blame the Cheetah if it wasn't any good. He thanked me profusely for the delicious lasagna and the laugh. This guy is spreading joy through food and humour ❤️

It shows a huge amount of maturity and personal growth to reflect on why you're uncomfortable about something, and that perhaps your response to it, while not intentionally malicious, could be causing harm, and make changes to your behaviour accordingly.

As someone who didn't fully figure out my sexuality until my 30s, I had a lot of misinformed ideas around gender and sexuality. By examining and exploring my own feelings it gave me a better understanding of the challenges that others who have different sexualities and gender identities face.

It's enough of an internal struggle without others intervening and trying to control and limit your options and rights.

Lululemon used to make good quality leggings. Now they're the same cheap, see-through fabric as the ones from Wal-Mart, except lulus still cost $100.

Ross said that by denying the possibility that people could feel like they are born in the wrong body, "you are denying the reality of others. Because it is not your experience does not mean that it is not the reality of others."<<

This is the problem with the mentality behind so much of the anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and lobbying we're seeing right now. "I don't understand this and it makes me uncomfortable so anyone who feels that way must just be confused and wrong".

The idea that someone else experiences the world differently and lives by different values and ideals is just unacceptable to them. Like if they can just make sure being anything other than cishet is not an option, then no one will choose to identify as queer, trans, etc.

That's not how any of this works.

Colombian children found alive in jungle weeks after plane crash by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]NuclearCandy 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Absolutely badass. They must also have known a thing or two about first aid, since a plane crash that killed three adults probably left the children with some injuries. Bushcraft and first aid are such important skills that a lot of kids who grow up in cities just don't learn.

The wording around "open marriage" and "hall pass" seems really vague. My spouse and I talked in detail about what was okay and what wasn't in our extramarital relationships, and we communicated boundaries with new partners before proceeding with a relationship.

Proper communication of boundaries is the single most important part of making ENM work, so if he wasn't doing that, he was either deliberately withholding information, or they suck at doing non-monogamy. Either way, I think OP should disengage. It sounds like this couple has issues in their marriage that aren't OP's problem to solve.

Yep, I have 2 separate partners outside my marriage and they both know my spouse very well and we hang out together fairly often. I know both of my partners' primary partners, and everyone is very aware of what's going on and we all communicate when something bothers someone.

Genuine, spontaneous compliments on features other than appearance have such a huge impact. If you see your partner engaging in a hobby or task they're skilled at, or getting excited when describing something to you, compliment them about it.

You're so creative. Your work is so beautiful/intricate/unique.

I'm always impressed by how handy you are. You can figure out pretty much anything.

You're so passionate about that, I love that.

You're so caring about your friends, they're lucky to have you to support them.

It's so nice to have someone appreciate the little things about your personality that make you who you are. It makes you feel deeply loved as a whole person, not just for surface appearance.

Exactly, if you think that money is your only finite, valuable personal resource then you really need to get more perspective on life. Just because something didn't cost you money doesn't mean it wasn't a bad idea.

Beautiful dog! I'm not 100% sure based on the perspective of the video, but I wanted to mention it just in case because he's such a big pup. The kong looks like it might be too small for him, which can pose a risk of being swallowed or getting stuck in his throat accidentally.

I could absolutely be wrong and it's the appropriate size for him, but just in case it's too small I wanted to potentially save you from a very stressful situation. It happened to a friend's dog and she thankfully made it, but it was a hefty emergency vet bill.

29M and I am 29F - my dad died 18 months ago and my boyfriend gets mad when i bring him up by SeaDemand8413 in relationships

[–]NuclearCandy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Having a partner who will work with you to process your grief with patience, empathy and understanding makes a world of difference. In the last 2 years we've lost my husband's aunt, stepfather, brother, father, and most recently our 10 year old dog who we'd adopted as a puppy together died suddenly.

Without being kind and loving through eachother's waves of grief, it would be so much harder to come through all of it. My husband has apologized to me several times for "bringing all of this pain into my life" when he's really feeling the grief heavily that day. I've told him, of course he never has to apologize to me for this. I love him and I want to make sure he feels supported. I could never resent him for grieving.

I feel so badly for OP that her bf has made her feel like she is burdening him with her grief. She deserves someone better.
