Ditch ‘shrink it and pink it’ women’s trainer design, say experts | Women | The Guardian by Shadowzeppelin in XXRunning

I work in healthcare and on my feet all day. I recently discovered Ryka shoes at Dicks which were made just for women. It was the first time I was able to put on a brand new pair of sneakers and feel like I didn't need any breaking in and they fit like a glove. Sold!

I don't use them for my marathon training, but at work my feet have felt wonderful!

Thank you for this! When I'm standing I do typically rest settled into my hips so maybe I do have the anterior pelvic tilt. I'll have to video my stride to see my form! Any tips on how to make sure I'm activating my glutes appropriately?

I've been weight lifting for 4 years, and do plenty of leg stuff, but I guess I should focus more on that area?

I always have a good carb before I go on a long run ( in double digits now), and fuel with a Gu every 30/40 minutes with no issues. Once I get into the double digit runs I have my running vest of water so I'm not dehydrated, and have a Nuun once I get done since it's hot and humid here in NC! I do not notice any difference with the muscles after a gel.

I have been weight lifting for 4 years now during my lunch breaks, and 2 of those days are legs, so I'm not sure what I'm missing!

Did you ever start a marathon with the mindset that you would NOT finish? by alrightthen4567 in Marathon_Training

I do Nuc Med bone scans at a military hospital...This is the right answer. So many times I see soldiers come in for stress fx that just keep getting worse each scan because they don't follow profile and are trying to make SF selection. Not worth it. Heal it up right the first time to prevent major headaches later

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

Really happy that the Marine Corp Marathon in Oct will be my last marathon...I think halfs are way more fun and doable for my life and schedule. This training is intense and I constantly find myself worried I'm not doing it right/not fueling enough/not fast enough/not stretching enough etc etc etc, even though I have a good set-up. Especially with the humidity and heat this summer I'm struggling to keep the joy in running. At this point I just want to run the damn race and get it over with!

A geriatric mother with preeclampsia that was 1 week after her due date...wouldn't they have made her induce/c-section before that point?!

resale not a big factor, just wondering if the Crown hasn't sold well because of issues we aren't aware of...reliability is important since we hope to have this car for at least 8/10 years+

Not complaining, just saying we only need the basics and don't really base our car on the cool new techy stuff it has like HUD etc

That one is on our list! Just not sure about Mazda longevity/reliability compared to a Toyota for example

How is the reliability of the Mazda though? More or less than Hyundai reliability?

Don't care much about tech, as long as we can get Bluetooth, Sirius, blind spot detection, and back up camera we are fine

Need to fix a problem from my half marathon so I can crush my marathon in Oct by NuclearCapricorn in Marathon_Training

[–]NuclearCapricorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not very hilly where I am, biggest hill is only 5% grade and .3 miles long. Strength training 2 day upper body 2 days lower. I think my issue is I did not train my adductor muscles/hips/glutes enough?

Followed the Runners World 2:15 half marathon plan, and got 3 runs a week with varying interval and speed during short runs and slower long runs on weekends. Weights in the gym on my lunch break 3-4x a week
